It's back! Season 7 begins Tuesday November 5th! For those of you who sleepwalked through the first six seasons, don't worry. To build more hype for next season, there are not one, but *four* prequel episodes Three of them recap stuff from the prior seasons. They will air each Tuesday the next four weeks until the season 7 kick off: Oct 8: The Top 25 Finds Oct 15: The Top 25 Moments The other one is Top 25 Theories. The only one worth watching though is probably gonna be the fourth one "Top 25 Moments You Never Saw" Anyway, in Season 6 they barely touched the Swamp, but that'll change in Season 7, as seismic testing of the swamp revealed a 100-foot anomaly that they'll investigate. Presumably they'll continue digging in Smith's Cove in an attempt to find the source of the booby trap in the Money Pit. As far as the Money Pit goes, I think it's a lost cause, at least until they shut off the water. The ground is too unstable and they already swiss-cheesed it to death with no success...

Season 8 begins Tuesday November 10th! Right now I'm binge watching Season 7 as I haven't watched last season Recap of the first three episodes of Episode 7 (I'm posting this as I'm watching, so I haven't seen the later episodes yet): They decided on digging up three areas of the Swamp: 1) a 200 x 25 feet seismic anomaly that might be a tunnel 2) a possible flat stone paved road (70 x 12 feet wide) in front of the anomaly 3) the Eye Of The Swamp, an area with no vegetation in the swamp They decided to build a 120 x 50 feet bumpout expansion of the cofferdam in Smith's Cove so the end of the slipway under the wall can be further investigated. Further investigation of the flood tunnels in Smith's Cove has begun. A core sample has revealed evidence of the dynamite used in 1897 to block the flow of water leading to the Money Pit.

Recap of Episodes 4 through 6 of Season 7: A possible tunnel was detected in a caved-in pit area between the Money Pit and Smith's Cove. Seismic scanning was done on the eastern side of the island (the caved-in pit area and Smith's Cove) using 18,000 charges. Shaft 9 was found, built in 1863 some 100 feet from the Money Pit, after first finding the wooden sluiceway used to drain water away from Shaft 9.

Recap of Episodes 7 through 9 of Season 7: Shaft 2 was found. Built in 1805, it runs some 14 feet away from the original Money Pit hole. Ground penetrating radar was used in the swamp to get a better look underneath the swamp. The bump out in Smith's Cove was completed, uncovering a previously unexplored structure, perhaps the end of one of the box drains. Further exploration of the slipway end at the bump out has now begun.

Recap of Episodes 10 through 12 of Season 7: Now that Shaft 2 in the Money Pit was found, progress has been made finding the horizontal tunnel 110 feet down leading toward the original Money Pit hole. Beyond the end of the slipway in Smith's Cove, a wooden wharf-like structure was uncovered. Testing indicates it was built around 1741. The Swamp was drained after three days of pumping. The first work area was the stone paved roadway. It was partially uncovered when hurricane Dorian hit Oak Island with 100 mph winds in September 2019, damaging the causeway leading to the island and refilling the Swamp, causing a delay as it had to be drained again.

Recap of Episodes 13 through 15 of Season 7: A portion of the paved roadway area in the Swamp was uncovered, speculation is that it may lead to the Eye Of The Swamp. Digging has began in the Seismic Anomaly in the Swamp. The exploratory holes around Shaft 2 has been completed, and an eight-foot wide hole is planned for where the Money Pit is suspected to be located. Digging is underway in The Uplands, an area between the Money Pit and Smith's Cove. The flood tunnel leading to the Money Pit is suspected to go through this area. Evidence of a flood tunnel with coconut fibers was found some 50 feet underground with water flowing out of a deep hole.

Recap of Episodes 16 through 18 of Season 7:
The flood tunnel in the Uplands area was found. Unfortunately, the area surrounding the hole quickly began to collapse inward, forcing further exploration to be abandoned.
The one-year permit for the cofferdam expired, so it had to be removed. A shame it couldn't stay around for another year, as significant discoveries were found in Smith's Cove.
The first dig of the season in the Money Pit (called OC-1) has begin.

Recap of Episodes 19 through 21 of Season 7: Turns out OC-1 in the Money Pit area was a dead end, so the second target hole follows Shaft 6 (16 feet from the Money Pit). 8-A is 20 feet southwest of OC-1. Bits of debris found in 8-A was similar to H-8, dug ten feet away two years ago. A 13-foot wide seismic anomaly was spotted some 160 feet down in the area of H-8, so digging was begun on the third hole of the season, called RF-1, near H-8.

Recap of Episodes 22 through 23 of Season 7: A seismic anomaly was spotted at a building foundation in Lot 25. Partial excavation revealed a narrow tunnel, unknown where it leads to. The RF-1 hole in the Money Pit hit a void at 202 feet. But digging had to be stopped because gravel was spilling in from an adjacent hole, making the ground too unstable to continue. A coin that had been dropped into a test hole from a previous season was found. It had moved ten feet, meaning the Money Pit treasure likely has moved several feet. On the season finale, a memorial for Dan Blankenship was erected. Well, it was a good season 7. A new discovery was found in Smith's Cove. Significant finds in the Swamp. The location of the flood tunnel to the Money Pit appears to have been found in the Uplands area. And the RF-1 hole appears to be closest so far to where the original Money Pit was.

Season 8 has began! Recap of Episode 1: Normally digging on Oak Island starts around April, but work on the island was postponed two months to June because of the pandemic. The Laginas, Craig Tester and Jack Begley were stuck in Michigan until they were allowed to enter Canada in mid-June, but they had to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. They decided to revisit hole C1 in the Money Pit where objects were first spotted back in 2016. A deep water camera was used and several sightings were found some 173 feet down. A diver appeared to have uncovered a coin or something but dropped it. Nothing was found so far but they will try again later. Exploration of a stone structure in Lot 15 has began. It might have been used as a pine tar kiln. They will look for possibly a 500-foot long tunnel there leading back to C1 in the Money Pit. Work has began on exploring the southeast corner of the Swamp, with possibly a shaft located there.

Recap of Episode 2: The US folks survived the 14-day quarantine and have now rejoined the rest of the team on the island The Barringer survey map will be explored this season. A network of possible flood tunnels was noted, along with four anomalies some 100 feet down that could be treasure sites. Survey stakes were placed on a couple of the anomaly sites, one of which is very close to a hole dug last year that revealed a possible flood tunnel but had to be abandoned because of unstable ground.

Recap of Episode 3: To fully investigate the anomaly in the southeast corner of the Swamp, it was decided that a cofferdam be built for that area, similar to the one built in Smith's Cove. It won't be ready for at least a month, so further exploration of Lot 15 and other areas will be done first.

We kind of felt like this was a modern-day inventing of yet another clue. HOW - in the centuries BEFORE we knew the world was round - could anyone have drawn a straight line from the Temple Mount through the appropriate part of Versailles to create the center line of a menorah on a small island in the North Atlantic?
Oak Island is beginning to sound like a historical Grand Central Station. EVERYBODY was there at some point.

Oak Island is beginning to sound like a historical Grand Central Station. EVERYBODY was there at some point. And did you notice the line goes right through the red area in the middle of the swamp where a large anomaly was detected there? Yup, just hope we can find the Lost and Found Department where all the goodies hidden on the island are located

Recap of Episode 5: Another week, another set of data points to find The West Anchor is on the east side of the Swamp. A potential rock marker was found, visible from the ocean. Another rock was spotted for the North (east) marker, but it was indistinguishable from the other rocks on the beach. The first hole of the season was dug in the Money Pit using a sonic drill, but nothing was found in the F6 hole.

I finally got around back to watching after a six-month break Recap of Episode 9: Having drained the swamp, digging has began on the rock feature, looking for a possible connection to the pine tar kiln. The rock feature may be a slipway, some 20 by 70 feet long. When the Money Pit collapsed, speculation is that the debris field has spread out over a large area, so test holes are being drilled to find more of the debris field. G5.5 was dug in the Money Pit, but no evidence of debris was found.

Recap of Episodes 10 and 11: Several core samples were made in the Money Pit in the hope of finding more of the collapsed Money Pit shaft debris near OC-1. In the DE-9.25 hole (10.5 feet away from OC-1), wood was found at 156 feet. Small pieces of wood also was found at 180 feet, deeper than any known searcher shaft, which could be more of the shaft debris. A serpent shaped mound of rocks near the pine tar kiln was investigated, but it appears to be just a spoils pile, perhaps from digging the Money Pit.

Recap of Episodes 12 and 13: In the C-9 hole at the Money Pit, wood was found in a shaft 95 feet down. It appears to have been from the Tupper shaft, which was dug 10 feet away from the original Money Pit shaft. A second pathway was uncovered in the Swamp.

Recap of Episodes 16 through 20: Six test holes were dug near C-1 in the Money Pit which showed indications of a tunnel there. But with only a few weeks left before winter, it was decided to focus on the Barringer survey, which showed four anomalies. The stone pathway in the Swamp continued inland and appears to have split into two paths. A stone structure foundation was uncovered.

Recap of Episodes 24 and 25: Water samples from around Oak Island were tested for traces of metals. Of the 12 samples, three samples had a substantially higher concentration of copper and zinc in it, along with traces of silver. Copper and zinc was used as an silver alloy, and is released as the silver degrades in water. Two of the 3 samples were in the Money Pit. A sediment sample test were conducted in C1 in the Money Pit. No metals were found in the sample, which indicates the silver traces had to come from an object placed there rather than naturally occuring in the soil.

So that concludes the Season 8 Covid-shortened 2020 season The 20 by 80 foot stone road in the Swamp was the biggest discovery, along with the 600-foot paved portion that continued inland along the Swamp. I figure the Swamp would be the main exploration point in 2021, with further exploration of the road leading from the Swamp. And they just started looking at the Samuel Ball foundation, so likely further excavation there next season as well... Oh BTW, if you missed Season 8, it is currently being replayed on Thursdays on the DEFY over-the-air TV channel
