All had issues during the signature bake but Destane's pot de creme was not cooked. Jiwan's flavors should have worked together but didn't.
The technical was a bit of a mess for everyone.
The showstopper was interesting in regards to seeing folks strategy. Tina's birdhouse was small and simple but beautifully finished. All the additional decorative bits were finished and done well. It looked picture perfect.
Jiwan's castle was not finished. He was trying to do too many pieces. He didn't complete a stained glass window in the castles chapel. It looked unfinished.
Destane did not complete the brief she gave the judges, her grandma's house had two bell towers and she only build one.
Both Andrea and Amanda completed their houses and they had decorative bits and the design looked good.
Andrea saved herself with the showstopper and Destane and Jiwan did not. It was a double elimination and poor Destane and Jiwan were eliminated.
Signature Challenge - everyone seemed to do well with one or two bits off. Andrea's cannoli were to thin, Tina overlapped hers too much and there was an uncooked bit. Seemed as if Amanda was in the lead.
Technical Challenge - Andrea can't do math and was pouring 150 grams of batter in the beginning while the others were pouring 43 to 47 grams of batter for each layer. Andrea realized that she had don't her math wrong about a third of the way in. Also all three ladies whipped their egg whites differently and that affected the density of the batter.
Paul and Sherry state that it is neck and neck at this point and that whoever wins the showstopper will win the bakeoff.
Andrea - beautifully designed, tastes good, but Paul states it is very sweet, for kids. Crunchy element snickerdoodle cookies. Red Velvet with cheesecake buttercream - Sherry states is excellent.
Amanda - design is gorgeous. Top tier - vanilla sponge (?) with crunchy element of honey comb. The honey comb flavor is lost and does not stand out. Other tier - chocolate with cherry - both Paul and Sherry like. At this point I really thought Amanda had won as she seems to been so good at the semi finals and here.
Tina - Paul says the design is busy, but appreciates she is celebrating the Italian theme inside and out. One tier is red, green, white representing the Italian flag. The apricot buttercream needed more bite. The other tier is chocolate and espresso and done well.
It was apparent that the winner would be either Tina or Amanda. Andrea was either doing too much and not completing elements due to time, or was buckling a bit. Amanda who always seemed to have time issues was getting better and better and came across a bit grumpy. Tina was consistent from the beginning but could she have a strong finish.
