I didn't see that episode, but if someone gives you a gift, you pretend it's the best thing in the world. They do take turns overreacting!!!! I can't believe she let her husband close enough to impregnate her.

Of course if someone gives you a gift, it's only polite to say how lovely it is, and to thank them-- although this show is supposed to go beyond politeness into how the women really feel-- and such violations of etiuette are not exactly ununusall on the 'housewives." Under the circumstances, Jessel behaved badly. I Probably would have gone to my room and been terribly depresssed by how awful I looked in the negligee. She got too caught up in her own narcissistic concerns for sure.
However, as for "cackling hags"-- my thesaurus has "cackle" under three categories 1. stridor, which is similar to what you've suggested, 2. chattiness, where it is in a series of words like "chatter, jabber, babble, prattle, palaver, natter, chatter, cackle and 3. Enjoyment as a noun, with laughter, hilarity, giggle, titter, chuckle, chortle, cackle.
So I think is a word it encompasses ideas of laughter, amusement, perhaps excessive or unnecessary, as in babble, chatter, or abrasive as in sttidor as a general category.
I can't speak for Britishism as I"m not British, but I've certainly heard the phrase "cackling hags" not cackling hens although that sounds like a plausible phrase,
Mostly, though as a matter of association, it seems fiairly harmless, perhaps a bit mocking, but not any more than things others have said.

OMG Erin's party looked like a corporate party. She had sponsors? That is so tacky. It looked like she only served pigs in a blanket. It looked tortuous. And she was mad that Sai left? Sai has children and lives in BK; that's nothing to be upset about. Lame. I'm really not liking her. And her sister can just go in the trash. I'm sorry, this isn't a solemn event; this is a sponsored event with booze in a cavernous space.
What I am here for is how Jessel treats Pavit. That could be a whole show for me to watch.

That party looked to me, like productions idea, nobody seem to know what was supposed to happen, including Erin and her husband. . Very disjointed editing. They got several storylines just from that. The food was to be served later apparently. Brynn flirting with every man is alreay boring. Jessel speaks to Pavit, like he's her servant. 62k for preschool, delusional. I liked Jenna, but she's awkward, and speaks quickly and often mutters, I don't care if she's on or not. I miss the old crowd..

Agreed about Brynn, it's very one note. But I still like her the best. I think the reason it seems disjointed is because they had to edit out the housewife who left.
I saved a ton of money not having children! I wonder what preschool they were talking about. I loved that they were going to write that their child was, 'socially inept'.

That makes a lot of sense, for many scenes.

I wish she kept that in! And she's an English major?
I'm sure there were a lot of reasons, but one she stated was that she was a pescatarian and was hungry. Plus she said that she came from a recital of her children's - I am sure she was just tired and hungry and just wanted to be home. I would have totally left that party well before she did.
Also, I've never liked when women choose outfits that make women 'fidget' with them. Erin kept pulling on her dress each scene. Also, I wonder if that ring her husband pulled out was a rental too...they put it in a red box to make it look like Cartier, but it wasn't. The jewelry she had from Jacob and Co was a lot nicer than I've seen. They do things that are very trendy and not really my taste.

It seems that Erin went on Insta and was all 'I had food at the party, we even had leftovers!' And showed a lot of uneaten passed canapes. But I think for a fun cocktail party, passed canapes are fine, but if you insist people stand and listen to speeches, especially five of them, you should provide more food. One food station would have been nice, but I don't think they were thinking about their guest's comfort at all. It was all about them.

I thought that a lot of people with a certain socioeconomic expectations and status. Pay that kind of money for kindergarten or starting in first grade . Certainly starting soon after kindergarten . But what bothers me about Jessel is that she thinks the charcuterie board quality is a valid way of thinking about a school. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
Also she doesn’t know what the word “inept” means?? What? I don’t even know how to interpret that.
I was thinking about her tagline may really be apt. It’s so vacuously self assured and talking down —. The way she talks to her husband. She’s so absolutely sure that she knows it all that she never even considers his point of view at all. She just flicks it aside with barely a snap of her fingers. Although he lets it happen— either he’s given up reasoning with her or he’s given up on life that he just submits to anything after a half hearted attempt to voice a point of view.

One food station would have been nice, but I don't think they were thinking about their guest's comfort at all. It was all about them. I always thought folks in NY ate late. I'm of the mind the speeches weren't as long as production played it, it is reality tv. I think that's Erin's storyline, she never feeds anyone..it's a reach imho, and seeing online polls, most people like her.

I think if it's right after work, on a workday, it would be thoughtful to have more food if the event is more than a cocktail party. I also think the pandemic changed our eating habits; we are now used to eating earlier since nothing was open for so long, and a lot of us became early birds. I also think if she had time to change into another dress, there had to be more food. I've been at smaller, shorter events where they did passed canapes but also had a table of food. Never anything wrong with feeding guests.

My experience is that New Yorkers are definitely eating earlier — places, even diners which used to be open until 12-1 am— or even 24 hrs— are closing at 9:30 or 10 pm. Maybe it’s partly staffing but it seems that people have adapted to working from home — or the pandemic in general— but eating much earlier. ( Everyone ecxept me I guess.).
But even before, my expectation was that if you’re not serving food , your event should end by 8. Anything after that it’s pretty much inhospitable not to serve more substantial food, even if it’s just buffet style. . A few plattes of canapés just doesn’t. Do the trick. And given the elaborate evening attire at Erin’s “advertisenments for myself”— I mean anniversary party— , I cant believe it was cocktails only.
I also noticed Erin’s “vows” were all about herself while her husbands were all about her. What a lopsided relationship. I wonder if it gave him any pause.

Lol, "advertisements for myself" totally correct! Those speeches were as if grade schoolers wrote them and said just as stiffly.
Also, at cocktail parties, I hardly eat the passed canapes because I'm shaking people's hands, and then I don't want to touch food without sanitizing and/or washing my hand first.

Erin continues to be infuriating. Getting mad at Sai for leaving, 'you missed my cousin's speech'. Yeah, ummmm I'd be very happy I missed that. And of course, Bryn is going to flirt with your tired husband, it's called charity.

Erin totally overreacted, I'm wondering if her sister didn't wind her up, or tptb told her not to be so likable, she was great for 2 episodes. Sai has an obsession with food( is there any oatmeal)? she's just an odd one. If they had oatmeal, she'd of complained. It wasn't her place to talk about Jenna's real name, either. Manners! Brynn at the car showroom, not awkward at all, and I saw no reason for it. Gideon has also done reality tv. I'm over her flirting, the work on her face isn't good, so no Brynn, you look older than 25. Jessel, please , no more children, you constantly whine about the two you have, and you have help! Lots of princesses in this group.

And her husband, why would he tell her that? Unless they made him bring it up. And her leaving the wreath party, 'I'm amazing at design! You all suck' which is exactly how people judge you on your design acumen. Wreath decorating. I also like how she was all 'my children were there!' as she proceeds to hold her child and tells the story of what Bryn said.
It wasn't her place at all to retell that story. I feel that she and Jessel are competing as to who can be closer to Jenna.
Can I have Gideon if Bryn doesn't want him?
I don't know why Jessel wants another child. It looks to me like she hates her family.
Loved that the wreath decorating was catered by Bubby's and showed how over-rated their food is. When can we see more of NYC???

Much as I am not entranced with the current version of the show, I wouldn't wish to have the drunken and self-demeaning antics of the last cast back. If they could control their drinking and and their desperate man-hunting and flaunting which was probably fueled by the drinking--minus Ramona, and including a couple of new "housewives" none of whom are "influencers" or "content creators"-- and nowhere as obnoxious and destructive as Leah-- it might be worth watching again. But please spare me Leahs and the "influencing" crowd.
I read an article which stated the obvious-- which is that all these women are on the show in order to sell something-- especially themselves and their "brand." If that's all the show is going to be, I for one, will find it tiresome and alienating. I may watch, but I'll feel used, which is the feeling I'm getting now.
I wish they could find some -- for want of a better phrases--"real people." They could be society, or creative or rich, or ambitious, or a little strange-- but not the glossy, skin-deep, narcissistic self-promoters that make up the current cast. There are so many interesting people in NY-- -- who have unique or off=beat or even just exclusive lives that would be so much more interesting to know about.

OMG. These women get mad at the dumbest things. Jenna wants to go down early, no, she doesn't want to fly coach...what's the big deal? And what a wolf Erin is to pretend she's Jenna's friend just to blah blah to the other women about what she said. The woman just had dental surgery. I hate having my teeth cleaned, so if she wants to fly in comfort, let her. I don't like the ganging up, and it just seems to me that they are jealous of Jenna.
Also, what kind of low-rent housewives fly coach????? Are you telling me that not only are these women not interesting, but they are also not filthy rich? You can't deprive me of both.
Fun fact: the Four Seasons in Anguilla has had many previous lives, the first being a weight loss destination.

I felt for Jenna, trying to explain this horrible disease she has. She can fly any damn class she wants, the mean girls were jealous. They don't like her gifts, ungrateful lot. Just say thankyou and give them away. Cringeworthy moments this episode, they all looked bad, except Jenna. If it doesn't get better, I'm out.

Yeah, this last episode turned me way off. And I've had enough of Erin and her outrage at everything. Even Ubah was mean which was...yuck. It's sad because NYC is so interesting, with interesting people and places. These women could be from anywhere (except maybe Jenna). I wish they didn't hire influencers and women who just want followers on social.

What does Brynn do? Another influencer. I'm sure Jenna will be fine without her and her nasty tongue, telling Jenna her tan etc. was a cop out. Erin has been told to be the sh** stitter, and she does it too well. Jessel and Sai are a lost cause, it's a shame this show had gone downhill so fast. Brynn, and what she said was trending last night on Twitter.

It took awhile but they’re improving; now I recognize their names most of the time, and they’re getting to know one another too so that’s nice.
Refreshing take on wealth - they question the value of flying business or first class? when they’re trying to show us how upscale they are?
And what’s with trying to out-poor one another growing up? How different from the posturing of othe old HWs.
