Django never seems to get good critiques, and his work isn't really awe-inspiring. Even though they're not supposed to be literal with their animals, the green for the lion just doesn't make sense. So far, it looks so soft and flowy pastels, while the lion is regal and strong, top of the chain like he said.
Michelle and Irina's drama involving Dmitri is dumb.

I loved Anthony Ryan's outfit (though I'm not sure it's for a "wild night out" or not), and seeing Django's final product on the runway makes me hate it even more than I did when it was just in development! Yuck!
Dmitri's is a pretty dress, but I didn't see the influence of the animal he had, nor is it a going out on the town dress. I liked Anya's because it really reflects her style. I liked the jaguar dress too.
We'll see what the judges say!

They really liked Michelle's dress that reflected Dmitri's style. I liked the 20s feel to it, but I don't think it's necessarily pretty. It does look like it took a lot of work to make though. One of the judges say Dmitri's dress would be fun to dance in, so made a case for it being a "night out" dress. I still don't think they'll let him take the win with it though. Anthony Ryan's seemed to be okay with all of them, though someone pointed out the neckline wasn't great and Isaac didn't like the tassel necklace.
Sean's giraffe outfit wasn't a hit - the fabric and the weird tie in front weren't good. Julie's furry thighs weren't popular, and they don't like the stupid green lion outfit. Thank goodness.
Winner: Michelle Out: not Django for some reason! Juli is the one to go. It wasn't the best dress, but that green thing was horrible! At least Juli sewed something, worked a LOT on that, and what did Django do? I don't agree with this at all.

Did anyone else notice they let Juli spoil they episode early when she was talking about making her "last outfit"? After I saw Django's outfit I was hoping that was wrong, but they didn't even put him in the bottom two. If it were me judging, he would have gone home. At least her outfit referenced her animal.

I did not catch that. Django's outfit definitely did not reference his animal at all. That was terrible!!

I agree about the toothless lion. I think he is just a stubborn ass with the green. Let's see if he uses the color again next week. Sean HAD to add a tassel, which I think took away from his design. Loved Anya's Budgie flying design - it was so her.
Truly - what is the deal with Michelle and Dmitri? At first I thought he had stolen a technique from her then I read here that she "reflected" his design style. They were both in the top, but those looks he gave her when the judges complimented her design. sigh

Juli thought it was a great idea to put two tan car wash mitts on either thigh of a black mini skirt. Ya that's totally attractive! Django thought that draping a sheet around and between the model's legs was fierce. Sure Django. Both bottom looks made me cringe!
Thankfully, there were a lot of top looks too. There was a leather outfit that was safe, but was so beautiful, I wish it had been in the top. I liked Michelle's dress and didn't think it was a copy of Dimitry's winning look. It was sophisticated and visually interesting. Anthony Ryan's outfit was spectacular too. I really loved the way it looked. Even though it was subtle, it was dramatic.

I thought several of them did a great job in referencing their animals without it being blatantly obvious; but when you knew the animal you could see the connection.

Lots of really good looks this week. I thought Biddell, Hayashi, and Christina all did a good job at referencing their animal without being obvious. Anya's look would have been a lot better if it wasn't one of the three patterns she knows, but she is the Queen of Prints so it looked marvelous. I was surprised at how much I liked Anthony Ryan's look; it could take you from a late brunch through a summer evening; quiet, but with a lot of impact. I also liked Michelle's and thought that Irina was a mess for bringing the "copying" issue to Dimitry, and Michelle was a mess for trying to confront him. Considering all the times she's trash talked designers it's karma that [redacted] would eventually make it to her door. Besides that, her dress owed more to flappers than Dimitri's dress. I liked the material and flowiness of Dimitri's dress. I also liked the idea of that type of plaid for Sean's jumpsuit but not the material; it cheapened the look. I loved Irina's cape and was relieved she didn't do a short skirt this time. Juli and Django were both messes; unless he was referencing the grass I didn't understand the green, and nothing about the look had the regalness of a lion or a night out. Juli's outfit was basic and the brown...things on the side looked terrible.

I still dont get the judges. Dimitri's dress was not exactly a wild night out dress and it did look like a Scarlborough Fair outfit. Anthony Ryan's (although I really liked his look) wasn't a wild night out look either.
I dont get Django's esthetic. I did like Michelles dress and thought she deserved the win,

Sunny got dinged for not meeting the challenge criteria - so although the losing dress was pretty bad at least her dress made sense in terms of the animal. I fail to see how Django's dress for example was animal or party....

I fail to see how Django's dress for example was animal or party.... That's why I thought Django should go home, because at least Juli's dress showed a clear reference to her animal, even if it was bad! His dress was bad plus it didn't reference his animal in any discernable way.

And his dress last week was horrid---way too similar to this one. Shocked that he was safe.
