Of course she would be shocked....she was finally the champion after working for quite a few consecutive seasons.

Wow -- this surprised me:
So ABC has the right to veto any other job that the pros book while they are under contract for 5-6 years?? How crappy is that?

I can't remember where I saw it, but the show has hired two new dancers, a male and female who are married !or at least a couple). So they clearly weren't downsizing the number of pros, which has to make it feel even worse for Artem and Sharna. Val and Jenna are married, I saw an article on those two.

I hope Val and Jenna are the married couple being referred to. It would suck if they brought in two new pros in lieu of Artem and Sharna. Plus, that would mean they passed over Hayley, who’s earned a spot IMO.

I don't see any other married couples. I was hoping Emma/Sasha were going to be on, my very favourite couple.. At least they are working together on SYTYCD.

Nope. It was an entirely new couple that I'd never seen before who were ballroom dance champions and maybe from another country.
But I can't find the article now, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. (I should have copied and pasted the link when I first saw it. Sorry.)
Fingers crossed that it's a false alarm.

Okay, this clears up a lot: www.goldderby.com/article/2019/dancing-with-the-stars-spoilers-season-28-dwts-cast-pros/From the article: It also has a list of the pairings, which I don't think we've seen before.....or maybe I missed it. Still rooting for the Browns - Hannah and Karamo and I love the pros they are (maybe?) paired with!
I do like the idea of a judges save in some form. They should have done that MANY seasons ago! Sometimes, the viewers just get it wrong. I wish there was a judges substitution, where the judges could not only save someone, but sub in another celeb who deserves to go home!

^ Interesting. This seems like the first time that pairings were shared with the public. But then someone in the comments says half of them are wrong and starts correcting them. So I guess it's not official till it's official.
What gets me about the show (and most shows actually) is that they do nothing to update their webpages until just before the season starts. The DWTS page has a news item about the new cast but that's all the effort they could expend for now. Lazy.

The DWTS page has a news item about the new cast but that's all the effort they could expend for now. Lazy. Based on spoilers I saw on Reddit, a few of the spoilered pairings on Gold Derby are off. They've managed to confirm some of the pairs based on watching social media, actually observing outside the rehearsal space and seeing which celebs are with which pros (I saw pics of Hannah with her pro) and, in one case, the celeb actually told an interviewer who his pro is.
ABC thinks they're creating all kinds of excitement by not announcing the pairs until the premiere. I don't know what kind of naive, unsavvy people they have running the show over there, but the idea that they can keep all that a secret is sort of hilarious. Have they not heard of the internet? Even if the cast was sequestered like a jury, someone would still talk and the info would leak.
ITA about the ABC website. It's pretty much the case with all of the networks that the individual show websites are painfully bad and hardly ever updated. It's embarrassing. It's 2019 not 1999. Get with it, people! Don't they not hire people to do that sort of thing? If wiki pages can be updated within practically seconds of an episode finishing, why are the networks so slow?

Nope. You're the first to post it. It's not too surprising. I guess they don't have enough interest anymore to support twice a year.

No surprise for a couple of reasons. They didn't have a spring season this year, and they have American Idol now for the spring season spot. I don't mind that it's just once a year now.

Yup - as long as they have Idol, and the Bachelor spinoffs keep doing well, DWTS won't be done twice a year ever again -- unless another night other than Monday in ABC's schedule completely collapses. But even then, they now have all the primetime game shows to fall back on. They cost less to do.
