Sean's dances have almost all been walks more than dances. Jenna can teach him holds and steps, and that's it. If it were anyone else or any other year, he'd have been gone weeks ago. Trump tweeted to vote for Sean tonight. Sean isn't going anywhere. Oh yes he is..

So am I the only one who thinks that the show must have exercised some small-print loophole in the rules to get rid of Sean? Or maybe that's why they brought in an extra judge to up the number of points possible so that the judging scores were more heavily weighted. Cuz there's no way that Sean didn't get a lot of votes. Not that I'm unhappy to see him go.

I liked most of that Paso, but I think the scoring was fair. I really enjoy watching Kel and have noticed a lot of improvement! What does STEP mean? Those "martial arts" type movements Kel was doing, are STEP? Not familiar. I didn't see the critique, since I can't watch live, but I'm assuming that they were talking about this formation dance team competition style that's popular in the African American community. The moves that he made with the other men come from that style. (I'm just an old white lady with peripheral knowledge of this, so if someone actually knows about this firsthand, please chime in.) Here's a video of a performance. The stuff that most resembles what Kel was doing starts around 3:10 into the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNGtbLFwKjU

Not that I'm unhappy to see him go. Each time there is an extreme vote getter (with the exception of Bobby Bones) this normally happens. Once the pool of others to vote for gets smaller, the votes concentrated to others can be big enough to make a difference in the "no matter what" votes of a weaker dancer.

I agree that no politicians should ever be on this show. The judges spewed such hate toward Mr. Spicer and they were so ungracious, that they ruined the show for me this year. Will not continue to watch. He was maligned even before the show started. If they did not like him, they should have never asked him to participate. Was he a good dancer, no. Is he a human being, yes. He graciously took it but it was brutal and I felt sorry for him and his family.

It's possible to give an honest critique without being mean-spirited. I'm not a fan of Spicer or his politics or the way he did his job at the White House, but it didn't make me happy to see him treated that way. No one should be treated like that. I don't like to see mean critiques directed toward anyone.

I thought that overall, the judges were fair and kind with him. Yes towards the end when they were having to choose between dancers they thought were better than him to go home as he was safe, they expressed some frustration. At that point, I think they were reflecting the sentiment of a large block of viewers. But outside of that, they gave him a lot of credit for trying hard, and gave him constructive guidance. At different times both Carrie Ann and Bruno gave him advice on how to truly dance rather than repeating movements he was told to make - Bruno talked one week about leading in the dance, and this past week Carrie Ann talked about understanding the motivation of a dance to make it more artistic. I absolutely think that he was given an unfair shake when he was first announced on the show - and there's no question that Tom lost some of my admiration for being a great host with the way he handled it. But all in all I thought the judges were fair with him - complimentary of hard work but honest in saying he wasn't great ... he wasn't.

I thought the judges went out of their way to be nice to him and basically his scores the last 5 shows were 6s and 7s. The judges were worse in their comments to Grocery Store Joe. I can't remember what their remarks were to Bobbie Bones. This time around, they've been harsh on Hannah, and somewhat to Lauren, but it's nothing new. Throughout the series they have been very unkind to those who can't dance good and I think that's uncalled for. Most of these people aren't big celebrities and a lot haven't danced. They should be giving constructive remarks not tearing them down. There is no sense in that and it's unprofessional. Additionally, Spicer made a tweet that wasn't very nice after the first show and then deleted it. So while I don't condone the judges being mean spirited to anyone, you get what you reap.

In some cases, I think that harsh criticism comes as a response to attitude - some that we see on the show, and some that we may not. When a star comes on believing they are a great dancer, being disrespectful to their pro, or not taking it seriously, I think the judges will try to level things and put them in their place. I don't think Hannah's had a bad attitude, but i do think that she's gone through the competition believing she's a better dancer than she actually is. As a result, I think the judges have been hypercritical at times to help her realize she's not the best. If someone is not great but shows that they know that, and work hard to improve, I think they reward it being kinder in their remarks.

Kel has certainly earned his title, most improved. He listened to the judges, specifically, CA.

Is he a human being, yes. He graciously took it but it was brutal and I felt sorry for him and his family. I agree. As to his political views, I just don't give a darn. This isn't a political show & he didn't spout off his views during the show. He was there to learn to dance, and he put his focus on that. Everything he said was gracious & pleasant. And he did learn to dance. Granted, not nearly as well as all the others left, and more, but he did learn & improve. I'm sure Mrs Spicer will enjoy going out dancing with her husband now. He may even be able to teach her some. It wasn't just the judges that spewed hate toward him, it was the media & many others. He didn't deserve that. As you said, he's a human being, and deserved better. I felt he handled all the hate & criticism very well & positively. He never got bitter about it, or whined, or played the "poor me" card. However, it was definitely time for him to exit. Now the judges & viewers can enjoy the rest of the show. It always bothers me when someone stays too long because of groups deliberately loading the votes.
