The geisha make-up was a huge mistake for Sergio, since his dress was supposed to represent female Chinese warriors like Disney's Mulan (but not cartoon-like ). The fact that you call it a geisha design shows how far off he was in the styling. I think most people would have thought geisha with that make-up. He should have put her hair up in a tight ponytail with perhaps some interesting details in the ponytail or maybe a top knot. It would have been cool if she'd worn very little make-up. Or if he felt a need for make-up, it should have been a dramatic dragon-like eye like we see in some of the ancient warrior paintings. If he'd done that, it would have been more obvious that she was a warrior and not a geisha, and the beauty of the simple but somewhat rough-looking fabrics he used would have made more sense. I thought the fabrics he chose were quite stunning for a warrior theme, but the dress itself wasn't super avant garde, so I'm glad he didn't win. And YES to everything you said about his arrogance.

I've kind of pulled back from this show. I'm so tired of Victoria and Sergio.

Thank you! I kept wondering what was wrong with that look. I couldn't put my finger on it. My BIL served with the Navy over in Japan. When he and my sister moved back to the States, they gave me a geisha doll, which I still keep on my bookcase. There is no way in the Lord's green earth that poor creature is going to kick anyone's rear end. She is swathed in a giant kimono that is so form fitting, IRL it would hobble her. And clearly, Sergio has never read Memoirs of a Geisha. These women were supposed to look and act like hyper-feminine dolls, to tickle men's vanity. Once again, another muddle mess of a message from Sergio.
On a a more positive note, though, I loved that fashion show at the Vessel. That was totally awesome! I want to visit that building now. And I'm wondering. Is Mood open to the public? I think it would be cool to go there, too.

Both The Vessal and Mood are open to the public. I saw the Vessel while walking the High Line the last time I went ti NY and intend to visit it the next time I'm in town.
