I've been a sandwich aficionado for a long time so I wanted to have a place to discuss our favorite sandwiches--either home-crafted masterpieces or sandwiches from a store or restaurant.
Some of my favorites:
1.) Peanut butter I sometimes have jelly on my peanut butter sandwich but not always. I mostly love the peanut butter! I usually have it on untoasted bread. Sometimes I'll add a banana to it. As a kid, I preferred crunchy peanut butter but my mom bought creamy peanut butter because that was my dad's preference so I used to put the chips she packed with my lunch on my sandwich to give it that crunch, or have a berry preserve with seeds (like blackberry) on it.
2.) Spam and sharp cheddar This was one of my favorite after-school snacks! I'd cut the Spam and cheese into similar-sized slices and put them on bread with a little mayonnaise. Pair that with a drink of cherry juice or grape juice and it's a taste sensation!
3.) Velveeta You really have to use the old-fashioned block Velveeta for this instead of the skinny slices to get the full wonder of this sandwich. All it needs is a skim-coat of mayonnaise and you're good to go.
4.) Hard-boiled egg and tomato I ate a lot of these while dieting in my teens. I'd microwave the eggs, remove the yolk, and slice the egg whites and tomatoes. It made for a tasty lunch with very few calories.
5.) Tuna salad/chicken salad/egg salad You can't go wrong with a simple salad sandwich. I don't like my salads adulterated with onion, pickle, or seasonings. Just plain mayonnaise is fine, and maybe a little mustard.

You sure are creative, pikachu. One of my favorite fast food sandwiches is the Mr. Hero hot buttered cheese steak. I also like Subway's tuna sub. If I'm making the sandwich myself, my favorite combination is this: Get a good quality bun (one that's can hold up to the stuff I'm going to put on it). Add a thick slice of Velveeta cheese (not those single slices. Only the stuff in the block will do). Add ham on top of that. Nuke in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Add sliced pickles, a pile of potato chips, mayo on the top bun and enjoy. I'm not normally a Velveeta fan, but that's the only cheese I'll use for this sandwich. I've tried other cheeses...swiss, munster, gouda, havarti..etc., and it just doesn't hit the spot the way Velveeta does. I don't use Velveeta for anything else but this sandwich. Isn't that weird?

Velveeta is awesome stuff, especially on the block! There's no better cheese for macaroni, imo.
My nephew got me hooked on Quizno's prime rib sandwich but then our Quizno's went of business.
Another great sandwich was at Schnickel Fritz, a German deli in the Clearwater Mall. The White Lightning was roast beef with horseradish cream on dark bread (I don't remember if it was pumpernickel or some kind of wheat, it's been a long time since I had one!). I'd get it with apple cider in a chilled mug and it was awesome!

My latest sandwich craving includes variations of a toasted croissant (or toasted sour dough bread) piled high with bacon, avocado, and tomato slices --- and sometimes this all tops a hamburger patty. Delish!!!

Tomato and provolone is really good.
I also make a good club sandwich with shaved turkey and ham, bacon, provolone, tomato, lettuce and mayo. I like a good bread for my sandwiches. I usually use Pepperidge Farm country white for club sandwiches.

I made BLT's for a party once where I used Cobblestone Mills hoagie rolls. I cut a rectangle in the top of the hoagie rolls and scooped them out so they were like little bread boxes. Then I put a tablespoon of cream cheese in the bread (it's a little more stable than mayonnaise so it won't sink into the bread if the sandwiches sit for some time) to help hold the other ingredients in place, added shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and last I stuffed bacon strips cut in half into the bread. Everybody loved them! One of the party participants was a pastor and he labeled them "boatloads of sin".

I forgot to mention one of my favorite sandwich ideas from when I was going to college. I'd take a Velveeta or turkey and cheese sandwich with me, wrap it in Saran Wrap, and leave it on the dashboard of my car while I went to class. When I came back to my car, I'd have a yummy melty grilled cheese sandwich waiting for me!

Egg McBrooks - Toasted English muffin or bread, mayo, lightly fried egg, slice of ham or bacon, and most importantly, a thick warmed slice of homegrown tomato from my backyard. Not recently because I have only been growing cherry tomatoes.
Last winter every weekend I had lightly toasted organic bread, overripe avocado as the spread, and pasture-raised liverwurst.

Their commercials stopped airing too. They didn't announce anything either, they just ceased to exist.

Not recently because I have only been growing cherry tomatoes. Yum, that sounds awesome! I love a nice, fleshy homegrown tomato as opposed to the pale, weak, water balloons they sell as tomatoes at the grocery store. My grandparents in Iowa grew the best tomatoes in their garden and spoiled me forever on homegrown!
When I someday get to move out of my crappy condo and get a home of my own, I'd love to have a garden. My thumb is pretty black right now but if I work at it, I can probably learn to keep some plants alive. LOL!

Weird sandwich that I loved as a kid: cream cheese & olive. Just cream cheese with sliced green olives between 2 slices of bread. Yum!
I love me some fresh farm tomatoes too! I just eat them sliced with a sprinkle of salt.

When I was a teenager and my parents went out of town, I liked to make a meatloaf and then snack on meatloaf sandwiches while they were away. I haven't had one of those in such a long time!

Sometimes when I make spaghetti, my husband will make a sandwich out of it. I always thought it was weird, but I had a coworker who did the same thing... I like to saute a chopped up green bell pepper then fry an egg over them and make a sandwich out of it.

My dad did the same thing, waywyrd! When my mom made spaghetti, my dad would have a plate of spaghetti plus put some between two slices of bread to eat as a sandwich. I preferred to eat my bread on the side.

The Quiznos sign still hangs outside the strip mall where it used to be, even though another store has moved into its space. That must be so confusing to visitors or people who don't get to this side of town often to see the sign and think there's a Quiznos there but then not be able to find it!

I love Ruebens, Philly cheesesteaks, and Bahn Mi sandwiches....and I can't really have them any more.

A weird sandwich I learned about from my dad is a radish sandwich. You slice the radishes as thin or as thick as you like and sandwich them with buttered bread. The peppery taste of the radishes paired with the cool, creamy butter is so good! I still have radish sandwiches once in a while. They're a great summertime supper!

Which Wich is a great restaurant for sandwich lovers. They have many sandwiches you can choose, you can have them hot or cold, you can build your own sandwich if you don't like any of their creations, or you can make any sandwich a wrap or salad if you're watching your carbs.
I've signed up for the rewards program so sometimes I get buy one/get one free offers or a free sandwich.

I always have peeled, almost hard boiled pastured eggs on hand for a snack. My quickie on weekends is slightly toasted organic multigrain bread (WholeFoods has one I really like), slathered with avocado mayonnaise or very ripe avocado, and two eggs cut lengthwise and placed on the bread. It's a little lumpy but I'm not going to take the time to make egg salad.

I've been having more hard-boiled egg sandwiches like that over the last several months, Brooks. It not only takes less time to prepare than egg salad but it uses less mayonnaise.

A couple of weeks ago on vacation in Anchorage, I had what I'd describe as the best sandwich I've ever eaten. It was grilled cheese with crab meat. What made it so great wasn't even the crab - it was that the blend of cheese included cream cheese. I don't think I'd ever had a grilled cheese with cream cheese before, but I will be using that when I make my own in the future!

I saw a restaurant featured on the food network once (I don't remember which show) where they had a grilled cheese sandwich made with a combination of cheeses, including cream cheese. I had never thought before then about having cream cream on a grilled cheese sandwich but it is good! Most of the time I use just Velveeta cheese for grilled cheese but if I have other cheese in the refrigerator, like cheddar or blue cheese, I'll mix those in, too.
The other thing the restaurant on the show did that I thought was novel was cooking the two slices of the bread separately, with the cheese on top, and then putting them together. That is easier than making one sandwich and trying to flip it without the contents falling out.

I mix american, pepper jack and mozerella on my grill cheese a lot of the time. I like mixing the cheeses.

Mixing cheeses is the key. My mom always does that. I had thought she made the best grilled cheese on the planet ... but now she's been toppled by the 49th State Brewery!

I just remembered an awesome sandwich I used to get at the Hobbit American Grill. It was called a Texan Philly Melt and was basically a Philly cheesesteak with BBQ sauce and blue cheese on it. I didn't think blue cheese would get along with BBQ sauce but they were actually really good together! I don't know why they got rid of the sandwich. It was one of my favorites.

When we went to San Juan earlier this year, we stopped at Chocobar Cortés and I had a grilled cheese with chocolate in it. It sounded so odd that I had to try it...but it was really good. Just brioche, sharp cheddar, and some kind of dark chocolate butter. My husband was scrunching up his nose at it til he took a bite.
