I have a lot of favorites!
Fast Food: Toss up between Wendy's and McDonalds. McDonalds is cheap but Wendy's is more satisfying. I wish Taco Bell was as good as it was when I was a kid because they were one of my favorites then. Seafood: Red Lobster Steak: It's hard to find a good steakhouse around here anymore. I stopped going to Longhorn because their food got to be too salty. Miller Ale House is about as good as it gets here. My favorite menu item there, though, is the Osso Bucco. I'm sure there are better steak places around but I either haven't found them yet or they're out of my price range. Pizza: Pizza Hut is my go-to for pizza delivery but the best pizzas I've found are at Uncle Maddio's and Red Elephant. BBQ: Sonny's BBQ is the king in Tallahassee. Mission BBQ is also pretty awesome. More expensive than Sonny's but they have vintage bottled soft drinks and to-die-for baby back ribs. Mexican: La Fiesta and El Jalisco are both excellent. Breakfast: IHOP and Waffle House Casual dining: Ruby Tuesday has been winning me over with new menu items and special deals. Sandwiches: Which Wich is a great place for sandwich enthusiasts because they have a lot to choose from.

I love Korean, Thai and Vietnamese food as far as eating out.

I'm all about Italian, Mexican, Japanese, and any kind of seafood. There are a couple of local restaurants that put the chains to shame, and we enjoy going to them much more. I occasionally get a gift card to Outback from my credit card points, but I always get the lobster tail or fish, I'm not a big fan of steak. Once in a while we go to Five Guy's for a burger...our local Wendy's has gone downhill and I've never been a fan of McDonald's cheeseburgers. If I want a sub it has to be Firehouse.

I'm fond of Thai, Japanese, any sort of Asian fusion and Ethiopian. There's also a place near me that does Korean style fried chicken wings that is absolutely delicious.

OMG -- Chinese. I could eat Chinese food everyday. I've tried making dishes myself, but they always turn out

My favorites are delis, crêpe places, tea houses, Thai and Mexican. I also like a good old fashioned mom and pop diner sometimes.
I used to love Italian restaurants but since I became allergic to garlic and onions those are pretty much out.

I love a good 'ole 1950's-ish mom & pop diner where you can sit on those old fashioned swivel bar stools at the counter.

Any place specializing in fried clams or steamers. Better have a good beer on tap.

I like the red vinyl booths

My favorite type of restaurants have locally sourced foods and are places where they know me. I am fortunate to have establishments like that nearby. I also like food carts - in Oregon we have some great places to get interesting food. We also have a chain called McMenamins that chooses old historic buildings to site their restaurants. Every one of them is different but they all have a very comfortable atmosphere for sitting and relaxing.

My favorite restaurants are little hole in the wall places that aren't so pretty on the outside but if you dare venture in are warm and welcoming and you'll go home with a happy belly full of good food.

I just plain like restaurants. My favorites change according to my moods. Anything from simple to chains to fancy is great by me.
The only thing I don't like & try to avoid whenever possible is buffets. First off, I always overeat at them, usually horribly. I just can't help it. Next, the food at buffets isn't usually all that healthy because they are making things that can be mass produced easily. Lastly, I wonder how long some of it has been sitting out & if people have been touching it or breathing on or near it with various illnesses or issues -the germ thing.

My favorite restaurants are 'hole in the wall' seafood restaurants where the local area people eat, because they know it's good food.

I like them all! Seafood is my favorite.
We are getting to the end of restaurant week here in Naples, where about 70 restaurants offer 3-5 course specials. We love to try the crazy expensive restaurants during this timeframe because they all offer a fixed 3-course menu around $36 pp. We went to a Latin/European one the other night called Lamoraga and it was to die for! link Tomorrow is the last night, hoping to fit one more in maybe!

I think IHOP changing to IHOB is a big mistake. There are a million burger joints but they have brand recognition for breakfasts.

It was just for a limited time, to promote their burger menu. Stupid, but not a permanent change.
I don't really have a favorite cuisine. I do prefer restaurants that use fresh, healthy ingredients and I'd ALWAYS rather go with a locally-owned place over a chain. I'm lucky to live in a city with probably hundreds of restaurant options that aren't chains.

I'm with Critical I would always rather eat local than at a chain. We only go out once a week, and we rotate between some favorites, with BWW thrown in for good measure But in the spirit of the thread topic, my favorite type of restaurant is a greasy diner that nobody knows about but the locals. I wish I had one of those around here!

We used to have this local dive that was more redneck during the day/college at night drinking hole that was run by a greek couple who served some insanely good food. Most people never ordered it though other than the appetizers to go with their beer. I mean it would take awhile to get your food--maybe an hour--but I have never had such good cooking anywhere else. Unfortunately they retired and the hole in the wall is now a tire store

No, they never had that. I have had it when the Greek Orthodox Church had their fundraiser dinners though. They used cloves in it though which is one of my least favorite spices second only to anything with a licorice tone so wasn't something would go back for.

Ravioli from a specific restaurant 10 miles from where I grew up. It no longer exists, but, oh, my their Italian style ravioli were delicious. My first experience with Ravioli was made for the general store by one of the local women was spinach and cow brains...wonderful.

No, they never had that. I have had it when the Greek Orthodox Church had their fundraiser dinners though. They used cloves in it though which is one of my least favorite spices second only to anything with a licorice tone so wasn't something would go back for. The baklava that we got from the Italian deli didn’t contain cloves. It was made out of filo dough, nuts and honey. I read that licorice also flavors jellybeans, and that red “licorice” isn’t actually flavored with licorice. I've had baklava without cloves but for some reason our local greek orthodox used it in theirs. I've never been much on jellybeans regardless of what flavor they are. Just not something I am a huge fan of. I guess my parents never bought them much when we were kids. IDK. Kind of like twizzlers--don't love or hate them. They are just not something I buy.

I don't like black licorice at all and the only time I liked red licorice was when my sister and I were little. We'd get a pack of red Twizzlers at the movies and use them as straws to drink our root beer. It's amazing neither one of us ever got cavities after all the sugar we ate and drank! My mom did get us into a dental program, though, where we got fluoride treatments.
