Flipping Virgins - while I luv host Egypt, some of the guests, the newbie flippers especially this week's daughter had me fuming. I am sorry, without Egypt and her building team this flip would have been a disaster. I felt the mom and daughter were totally helpless. You get sweat equity by using a blower to simply blow leaves off a path??? You build sweat equity by showing up on site everyday and cleaning up the site instead of paying the work crew to do it. You learn by hauling and carrying supplies, you learn by being on site every day and being aware of day to day problems and not waiting until you deign to visit and Egypt has to tell you and you get upset because it will cost you money. Who loans a 20 something girl $500,000?? Mommy probably co-signed that loan. I was not impressed with the daughter at all.

I got the feeling early on that the daughter was a special snowflake when Egypt said they would be touring some of the more expensive Atlanta suburbs with a $500,000 budget. After the first house tour, the daughter turned up her nose at a $60,000 profit. She turned me off. I fell asleep but not before they ran into some issues that ate into their 10K reserve fund and had to keep that hideous bathroom.

I fell asleep but not before they ran into some issues that ate into their 10K reserve fund and had to keep that hideous bathroom. I appreciate that Egypt knew how to tone down the wall color put in some really nice floor tile that actually gave that bathroom a retro vintage feel. They did something similar in the Restore episode from last Saturday where they redid the floor tile, changed the wall color from pink to white but kept the pink and black original tile and it looked good. I hated how they cheaped out on the basement kitchenette. I have rarely seen a good painted cabinet. Nice to know that there is special cabinet paint.

Flip or Flop - Four bedrooms in a 1200 sq ft home ... yikes that is tight. The staging was great. The backyard a good size. I did absolutely luv what they did in the kitchen. Over all the kitchen, dining and living room did look good.
I am a tad suspicious that in Flip or Flop and Flip or Flop Vegas both ladies are using this new wood tile that is basically stick and tile. It comes across so product placement and free advertising. I did think the wall at $1,200 was a bit expensive especially since there was this huge slider in the middle of it.
OMG even on Music City Fix they used that peel and stick shiplap. Come on HGTV too much blatant product placement.

I agree. I can't watch Love it or List it because of that. Same with House Hunters. New home buyers want it ALL but are insulted when shown a home within their price range. Spoiled and/or naïve people.

Music City Fix - 2 episodes this week. This is the first one about a small house across from some railroad tracks, a power station and only a couple minutes walk from East Nashville. Luv how deep these city lots are. I wish mind was that deep. While the house did need a bump out and up to get that spacious 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath look, sometimes the open space concept looks as if there is a lot of wasted space between furniture groupings. They did a black ceiling. You only can do that with incredibly high ceilings and it did look good as it was a matte black and not glossy. While I liked what they did, the front of the home looked great as did the landscaping. I don't know about the garage door. I hope it is an incredibly tight seal between the house walls and the garage door else you are spending a lot of money air conditioning and heating the outside. For that kind of money I would want a paved driveway and a garage and not gravel.

Music City Fix - second of two episodes - a split level
I don't know if a bump out was truly necessary but it is like adding a really nice sunroom to the area but is it really necessary. I liked how big the basement was and it was a great place for kids to play and add a media room, and a workout room, or an office and I didn't particularly care the they added a master bedroom, so the house would have 4 bedrooms, and reduced the play area to basically a little sitting room. It would have been different if they had made the addition two levels and put the new master bedroom under the sunroom. If you have kids, or need extra storage you just eliminated it. While the finishes are always beautiful as is the staging there just seemed so much open space that it was not necessary. You can only have so many sitting areas and there are times you want to put all the kids in the basement.

For people who didn't get a chance to watch Boise Boys, HGTV is now airing the shows on Wednesday at 7:00pm. Apparently a lot of people complained to HGTV that the original 10pm time was too late for them to watch, so the network decided to put them in a prime time slot. I think I'll watch again; I enjoyed the episodes and every little bit helps (especially since there's been no word of a renewal and both Destroyed by the Fords and Good Bones have already gotten renewals).

Flipping Virgins - I really enjoyed season 1 where many of the virgins did much of the work themselves, and invested themselves, their families, their sweat, and money. This season many of the virgins don't seem to have a clue. If it was my money and my house, I would be on site every day or try to be as that is my very personal investment. This week's ladies, didn't seem to have a clue as to how bad a house can be, and seemed to be OK with Egypt doing all the work. The way the ladies made faces every time a problem was discovered and more so that they had to spend money to fix it made me want to hope a little that they would be upside down in their investment.

Flip or Flop - now Tarek is doing the eye roll. I wish both would stop. I do think some of Christina's spending habits are because she has never done the financials and it is good that she is trying not to spend money. I know with many couples they dump the burden of paying bills on one person and the other person becomes the spender. I did like they were smart with the tile jobs in the bathrooms.

Just catching up on Flip or Flop. Tarek was annoying this episode, though I understand the bill-paying stress. Don't spend so much on your own house, then! I loved the bathroom tile, and I really loved that deep blue backsplash tile she used. I wish I could find that here. And what fool puts FOUR layers of shingles on a house? I can't imagine all the weight that poor house was holding up. Crazy. I've been enjoying Caribbean Life on Sunday nights too. Though if I see one more couple who squawks about needing granite/stainless appliances I'm going to scream.

Desert Flippers - Season 3 starts this week.
Glad to see this couple back and flipping Palm Springs. I like how well they work together and it's nice to see what they can do with mid century modern. I think this is one of the smallest houses they have done just over 1100+ sq ft. Amazed to see the huge trees on the lot. Gag, someone painted the shower and bathtub tile surrounds with black paint. Not a good look. Who ever is doing the production work, the editing of the show is doing a great job. The couple are both good in front of the camera and I love seeing the wife dress up for the open houses in a kinda retro 50's very feminine style without going to over the top. Luv the colors, the pools, the vibe. The show just has a good feel to it.

And the staging is always perfect - not cluttery or overdone (looking at you, Vegas!). Just fresh, clean, and modern.

Flipping Virgins - parents want to flip houses and put the profits into a college fund for their 3 girls. But the problem is the don't want to spend a lot of money and do a lot of renovation but they want a lot of money for the house. This virgins have to be fake as no one is this stupid when it comes to flipping not with all these shows on the air. Another pet peeve is that the closing costs are not deducted from the profit so it seems larger than it should be.

Flip or Flop - a trilevel in Orange Ca. It is so obvious that this is a fake set up. Come on Miss High Maintenance can not be that ignorant about the price of materials. The kitchen Tarek designed looked good. Liked the flooring and yes if you are paying close to a million dollars it should be real wood.
While Christina is always rolling her eyes at Tarek she has a trigger temper herself.

Christina needs to grow up. I am sure a lot of this is scripted and they are told to do it but I am tired of hearing the stuff.

Texas Turnaround
per HGTV:
Based in Austin, Texas. The couple work well together. Last night was their pilot episode. They did a townhouse from the seventies. Farmhouse, rustic, industrial is big in the area and I love what they did with getting rid of a second floor pony wall and replacing it with a metal railing, making the laminated wood and steel header and leaving it exposed as part of the design, the wood ceiling, the wood feature wall, the polished concrete floors, the zen garden, changing the orientation of the kitchen. It was a total WOW job.

I think it was around 1700sq ft I would have to watch again. They bought it at $165,000, put in around $70,000, listed it at $349,000 and accepted an offer at $325,000. The inside was amazing.

BUT while this is a lovely home in a lovely neighborhood it abuts a very busy road in Orange. You may have noticed the road (behind the house) while watching the episode. I would never pay one million on that road. Sitting by the pool would be way too noisy. The windows on the second floor would look down on that busy noisy road. Just not one million worthy. Now as far as C&T ....... OMG ......... this show is now a total FLOP in my opinion. Flip and Flop's ship has sailed. Why do the viewers need to be thrown into the middle of their divorce? And why does the show feel viewers are interested whether Christina has a bf? Or that she has not told Tarek or that he will be mad? OMG.

I'm so glad I don't watch this show. I had it on for 5 minutes but I find her voice absolutely grating so I turned it off.

Desert Flippers
Season 3 Episode 2 - July 31, 2018
Wow, at first I was not sure about the walled front courtyard, as I really don't use my front yard, but in this case it makes sense to use the front courtyard like a standard backyard. The stucco walls and wooden gate make a big difference in regards to privacy, and safety as far as pets and young kids not having direct access to the street. Luv'ed the pool in the backyard. While I am not a fan of overly elaborate traditional raised panels, the kitchen turned out well. What I liked the best was the tile work in the bathrooms. I have seen tiles behind the vanities on Flip and Flop Vegas and think it is very much overdone and was not looking forward to seeing it here. I was so surprised how good Lindsey made the tile vanity backsplash work as well as the tile accent in the bathroom and shower stalls. Accenting the tile with a bullnose strip was brilliant. I also liked the antique look of the tile.

Flip or Flop
I liked this mid century modern. Liked the fake grass around the pool. The firepit was fabulous. How did they make the cage turn by itself? Liked the kitchen and the wood look slab panels. Nice to see the entire team working well together.

Flip or Flop - I loved that firepit cage thing, and I wish fake grass was a thing here (it's not, unfortunately). It looked great, as did that pool. I'm not usually a fan of the slab door cabinets, but those were very nice. And I'm totally going to steal that tile pattern they did in the shower and bath surround! I'm trying to remember the house on this week's Desert Flippers...I know I liked it, I don't think they've done a single house that I haven't liked. Just can't remember the details right now.

I had sworn off Flip or Flop once they divorced and came back as I wasn't even really a fan of theirs while they were still married, but nothing else was on so I gave it a go. There were 2 episodes back to back and I don't remember if it was this one, but they only made 10K. Oh, my heart bleeds for them. Not.
