Although I thought that Mid-century modern kitchen was fun, I don't know how I feel about that couple being chosen for the show. I enjoy it more when the people REALLY need N & J's help, vs. just wanting them to decorate a room in their home. It felt like a strange choice, since the rest of the people chosen on this show tend to be people who are in desperate need of help. I mean, that kitchen wasn't great, but there was a floor and a sink!
Jeremiah suggesting Fernando's middle name as a name for their new baby son = ALL the feels :'(

I agree, Critical. Not that I need sob stories every week, but at least make me feel something like appreciation and need! I also felt like they/more so Jeremiah kind of phoned it in this week. I caught his face a few times on the floor discussions and he did not seem happy. Although, impending labor probably does that too!

I don't need a sob story either, but I prefer seeing N&J help people who really NEED their help. That couple struck me as the type of people who had plenty of money and could have hired ANYONE to do that job. Plus, they seemed to know exactly what they wanted. In most of the other episodes, the homeowners were either dealing with a super low budget or living in a house that was half dismantled OR they didn't know what they really wanted.
I felt like Jeremiah was a little checked out during parts of that episode too Maybe it was worry about the baby, but I wondered if he was just over it with the homeowners.

I think he checked out over the Carerra floor issue. At that point, and with the baby coming, his eyes were twitching.

Me too! Isn't she just the cutest little girl EVER!!! I wish the powers-that-be on the show would allow viewers to see more than just a minute or two of N + J home scenes with Poppy! But, sadly, they don't.

Last show of the season. Baby Oskar is home and we got in lots of ouuus and ahhhhs. Poppy kisses were in abundance. The redesign of the house made sense and I love the white/beachy color scheme. That the couple agreed to the compromises on windows and stove hood, as well as participating in demolition, kept them exactly to budget.
They were a savvy couple who just needed help to get out of the sixties.

They were a savvy couple who just needed help to get out of the sixties. I fell asleep, again! I guess I have not seen enough of this show to understand the premise. Wasn't the show initially about couples/families who were in need? Some type of financial distress or personal tragedy/illness, etc? Last night's couple had a hefty $100,000 budget. I loved their pool and backyard. I guess I am the cheese that stands alone b/c I truly do not care for open concept type design. I like to have designated rooms. I never understood how just removing a wall can suddenly make a home bigger. Yes, maybe there is the 'illusion' of more space and it may seem airier but you have removed a wall for goodness sake. Now there is nowhere to place furniture. Yes, you can remove a wall between a kitchen and dining room and float a large island, but now you have counter height stools up against the kitchen island and it's thisclose to the new dining 'area'. It's no longer a dining room b/c you have removed a wall. Our home was built in 1949 as a traditional Cape Cod style. 2 bedrooms down, 2 bedrooms up with the upstairs having slanted walls. Previous owners enlarged it by adding full dormers to add an additional 2 bedrooms upstairs and a full bath. When we moved into our home we had a living room, kitchen, bath, and a small bedroom and a medium sized one on the first floor. With no need for 6 bedrooms, we opened up the wall that separated the living room from the larger bedroom. It's not completely open but it is a very large opening. We did the same thing between the smaller and larger bedrooms. So everything flows very nicely and you don't feel hemmed in. /end rant Just had to get that off my chest.

I really liked what N&J did with that crazy couple's house. I'm glad this show is back, it usually makes me happier than Trading Spaces or WYWO. Trading Spaces gives me more stress since they keep trying new designers and they use Doug and Hildi too much "for good TV".
16 years without floors or a kitchen sink?? I think this couple's issues run deeper than mere indecision. The wife seemed like deciding what to have for dinner sent her into a panic.

I’m looking forward to the new episodes. For some reason, my DVR recorded last Saturday’s episode even though it should only be recording new episodes. It took me a few minutes to realize they probably wouldn’t feature TWO couples who lived for 16 years without a functioning kitchen Sorry, but that goes far beyond indecisiveness and into mental illness. A year or two? Maybe. Over a decade and a half? Yeah, there’s something else going on there. I liked what N & J did with their house, but something about that couple rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe I just prefer seeing people who are more financially in need and who don’t have $80k for a kitchen remodel

Yes, I think her nerves sabotaged whatever decisions needed to be made of the last years and then she finally gave up. If not for their daughter, they would still be washing dishes in the bathroom sink. What I didn't like was how she seemed to need to sabotage this reno by giving he contractor the okay to demo the bathroom. This was a repeat as new baby boy wasn't on the scene. He will be there when the new shows start. I can't wait.

That was a repeat? I must have missed it the first time.
What's weird is I didn't see the new Trading Spaces, but I watched the Trading Spaces later on that night after N&J, and it was a repeat. So I guess I still have a new TS to watch on demand...

WAIT .... Saturday night's EPI was a repeat??? How did I miss it before???? BUT then again the new season actually does not start until 4/13/19 so I should have figured there would be a repeat. I did realize it was ODD that they announced Baby Oskar while IRL Oskar is almost 1 yo. Anyway, those people were really ODD. To live like that for 16 MINUTES would have driven me crazy.........16 YEARS !!!!!!
And wash their kitchen pots pans and dishes in a bathroom sink for 16 YEARS !!!!!!
BIZARRE to say the least!!!! As far as N&J .... I love those two and I love what they did with the house!!!! I think the BIZARRE couple got kinda ballsy when they told the construction crew to do the bathroom over w/o discussing it with N&J.

Ah, they just finished their design two years ago...moving so soon? Hi Arielflies!!! From the article it looks like N&J do this allot!!! "Their decision to sell is not all that surprising. Berkus told Mansion Global that he has moved eight times in 10 years, adding that he’s drawn to homes like the one he just sold."

There was also a blippy type ad for the upcoming season which shows the family of four hiking a trail in the hills and looking back at LA. Nate asks if this is where they are happy and Jeremiah says no. Nate then says maybe you will be New York kids.
So...maybe a move to New York, then.

I've been enjoying this season -- I look forward to this show more than Trading Spaces on Saturdays. The lady with the voodoo dolls was a little scary, but at least they made her happy so she won't get any ideas. The new ep with Brandy & Steve was a little strange -- the house looked a lot better, but what they really need is a bigger house for all those kids. Maybe they can go on Love It Or List It next.

I am missing this show. I can't wait for Project Runway to be over so I can swap out Bravo for TLC. Of course as soon as I do their season will be over and then I'm stuck.

Tonight was such a good episode. Both Nate and Jeremiah were so moved by Noble and his story and he obviously reminded them of each of their own fathers and their health issues. Jeremiah was trying not to cry pretty much the whole episode and I will admit it had me teary eyed as well.
