Okay, rewatched it and now I understand why she went home. Her tomb had nice details but as Zac said "The seams were showing." It looked very sloppily put together, was falling apart, and the element that was on the card (the scientist part) didn't look like a test tube. On top of all of that, her maple cake was sickening sweet without any acids to break up the sweetness.

Karl won the Halloween Baking Championship like we thought he would. I was wondering if Pete might take it at the end - both of their zombie cakes were great - but Karl beat him. Congrats! It looks like the Holiday/Christmas Baking show starts next week?

Yes for Holiday Baking.
I watched a recording which cut off just as the winner was to be announced. This also happened with Gingerbread Showdown last night. sigh I went to the internet for help and it was a struggle for the gingerbread show, but I found out Karl had won right away.
I also thought John would win as he seemed confident w/o being arrogant. However, they edited in Jon asking Karl how much winning would mean to him, but not the other two.
I love the FALL season!

Hurray for Karl! I absolutely LOVED his cake, and the other two cakes from the other contestants were great as well; I'm so glad they did something different this year other than the "make a spooky house/scene" they have done in other years.
I really hope Lorraine is back next year. I was reading posts on Reddit, the FB Food Network page, and other places where everyone was saying how much they missed Lorraine and didn't particularly care for Katie Lee (and I'm being nice here).
I love Mid-September thru January on Food Network because of all the holiday programming from Halloween thru Christmas. They are such fun shows! Next week, the Thanksgiving Dinner Competition and Holiday Baking show starts, and we will probably be getting the Christmas Cookie Challenge and Holiday Gingerbread Showdown starting in mid-November.

Count me in to bring back Lorraine.

Holiday Baking Championship - those Kransekakes looked like a pain in the butt. I thought the girl whose cake collapsed would be sent home for sure, but she survived this round. A few of the cakes came out beautifully, though. I think there was a cookie show at 11, but I couldn't stay awake to watch.

I was familiar with the cake from Great British Baking, none of the cakes last night came out as nice as Paul's did.
I already found the annoying baker, Sarah. I kept rolling my eyes when she was talking. I think she will be around for awhile as she is a good baker.

So many baking shows on last night!
Holiday Baking Championship: I thought for sure the girl with the collapsed Kransekake was going home as she didn't really meet the challenge. However, the other guy's cake tasted like corn and also had a weird shape, and her cake tasted really good. Some of the cakes looked really good. And I can already tell that annoying blonde lady is going to be a pain in the [censored]. She's a good baker though.
Holiday Baking Championship: Rematch: 3 bakers that made it to the finale in past Holiday Baking shows came back for the opportunity to compete and redeem themselves. It was a real joy to see Lerome from last year and the older lady with the glasses from season 2 again. Unfortunately I dozed off so I have no idea who won so I have to watch it again.
Christmas Cookie Challenge: I thought this would be on later in the season; It's such a fun show! I missed almost all of it as I woke up just in time to see a contestant present the last bake and the winner, so I'm going to rewatch this as well.

Once again, the recording cut before the winner was announced. LEROME won...I picked it up at the beginning of the recording for Cookie Challenge. I swear, I'll have to remember to tape the next hour if I'm not going to watch right away, otherwise I'm searching online. What is going on with the FNS broadcasts?

It might have something to do with your provider. Arielflies. I have Sling and a lot of the time they place the end of shows at the beginning of the next show and the way they patch them together can be off at times.
I rewatched and I was so happy for Lerome! He had some really beautiful bakes.

Last night's Ultimate Thanksgiving show was a lot of fun. For the main heat they had to make a "Untraditional Thanksgiving" as in how Thanksgiving food would taste around the world. India, Italy, China, Mexico, and Soul Food was represented. It was really interesting to see the contestants make Thanksgiving infused with the foods, herbs, and spices of their assigned country. While the whole cast is likable, I like the blue haired guy and the Asian dude the best.

Holiday Baking Show: The bakes last night were fun! I was really scared for Kobe last night. He added one ingredient too many to his pies (the basil to the goat cheese and the other ingredient) and ended up in the bottom 2. I also felt really badly for Maria (the baker from Hawaii) as her pies initially sounded delicious with the ginger and pineapple but something went horribly wrong, they didn't cook the way they were supposed to, and the decorations ended up as sad blobs. Sarah continues to be too much. And I was very happy that Melissa won both heats.

Sarah...... continues to annoy but I noticed they didn't seem to showcase her as much. Maybe TPTB realized she is too much?

Christmas Cookie Challenge was good last night too. During the preheat they had to make examples of Santa/the elves getting fit for the Holiday season. The main heat they had to build a vacation home for Santa and Mrs. Claus and for the first time ever I had no idea who to pick for the winner as all three designs were great! One contestant built a traditional Korean house, the second built a traditional Swiss A-Line house, and the third built a Southwestern home.
edit: Oops, that's next week's episode. Sling gets certain episodes one week early.

OMG, those cookies were A MESS! The guy who made dog biscuits as his day job did the best, I think. The snowman in the snowglobe was adorable. I also liked the bears but the judges were right; she depended too much on piping for the overall look rather than the slice design. And the guy who did the circles didn't even try.

And soon as I saw his circles, I knew he was done. He could at least have tried to make a teddy bear head by adding ears. Interestingly, on the Great British Bake off holiday special, they made cakes with a hidden design. There were penquins, ornaments, Christmas trees...... and they all came out real well.

I wish some of these competition shows would give the bakers a bit more time.

So many holiday baking shows on. Love it.
Some of the bakers this time are really bring it and are beautiful. I can bake but can’t decorate very well.
Time gets the better of them.

A weird competition show about Thanksgiving pies was on tonight. Sometimes I think the Food Network is doing too much. Anyway, it was really nice to see the guy from Season 3 of the Halloween Baking Championship who got sent home for making a busted Dia De los Muertos mask cake on it.

Holiday Baking Championship - Poor Kobe wasn't having a good night. First he sampled too many of his doughnuts and had to bake more, then his roll cake sorta smooshed flat on him (mine always crack, ugh). I was hoping he'd be around longer... Christmas Cookie Challenge - I can't remember her name, but the girl who did that super cute Korean Santa house killed it. And she was really crushing on Eddie, too.

As soon as I saw Kobe's roll, I knew he was out of there. It not only was flat, the decor was barely visible. If only one of those would have worked, he might have stuck around.

I felt really bad for Kobe last night. There were a lot of terrible rolls but his was by far the worst. I was rooting for him too.
Loved Christmas Cookie Challenge last night; all the final houses were beautiful but I loved the Korean House.

Was the pie episode just a one time deal? I fell asleep before it ended and don't know if it was or was a winner chosen?

I think so. They aired it again last night (along with the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade cake competition, lol) and it was the same episode with Tyler from the Halloween Baking Championship on it.

The black guy's pie looked horrible. I didn't make it to see who won. BTW I didn't remember his name.
