I am enjoying these Christmas themed baking shows so much! But they are all winding down now with 'Christmas so close. The gingerbread one is amazing to see with all the intricate details, the Big Bake is crazy and fun, the cookie one where we see the winner n each episode instead of at the end of a weeks long competition is so good! I love the baking one, the Blizzard and the Holiday Wars too! I have been watching all of them too. I do like that the cookie one has a winner each episode.

I thought for sure the lady with the hundreds of cookies would win the Gingerbread Showdown - they were just too cute to eat. She was an excellent decorator, but I guess they wanted more of the traditional gingerbread structures over cookies? The spaceship was adorable too, and she killed it with that piping. I suck at piping.

I need to watch the last Gingerbread show, lol.
Holiday Baking Championship: So happy for Melissa last night winning the heat as well as getting into the final 3! I have to admit I was very, very scared for Jennifer last night. Sara deliberately gave her that oatmeal crust hoping she would fail, and she almost did. The guy gave it a good go, and he was just happy he made it as far as he did but at this point the tiniest thing can send you home.
Copokie Challenge: Those cookies made last night where they got to choose a cutter and make a Christmas scenario that had nothing to do with the cutter shape were just darling. I loved the one of the woman with the Christmas tree hat and the ones with the mouse and was sad when they had to be cut.

I was so happy for Vivian and Sachiko last night! They are the true winners of Santa's Baking Blizzard. The design was top notch, they put a judge's dog in the design, and the tasting element was delicious.

Congrats to Vivian and Sachiko! They made the absolute cutest cakes and figures. I liked the hot rod guys too, and felt terrible when their sleigh started to fall apart. Vivian's site has some gorgeous pics of their creations: Vivian Pham

Watching Santa's Baking Blizzard again and everyone did a wonderful job. It must have been very hard for the judges to decide.

Why don't I remember her? I saw the show and enjoyed the bakes, but the Yeh woman hosting jumped over one of Duff's lines making him give her a look from him and shock face from me.
I'm happy with the winner, I mean, really, how would you cook brisket in 30 minutes?

The woman tried VERY hard to be a celebrity.

I've only watched the last season of FNS so I'm not familiar with her.
I laughed so hard when I saw that FN had a Hanukkah special as well. I started watching it but fell asleep halfway through.

I watched the finale of Holiday Wars last night. My guy, Jason Hisley won! It was very close. Both teams had awesome creations. The theme was Reindeer vs Elves. The winning cake showed elves and reindeer having a sledding race down a hill and more reindeer and elves having a snowball fight.
It did annoy me a bit when the previews showed Jason dropping a cake, but that never happened. Not that I wanted him to drop anything but...
I'm going to his shop tomorrow to buy some cupcakes to add to my Christmas dessert table.

Holiday Baking Championship: YAY! YAY! YAY! My favorite won! The Brunch Buffet with three baked items in two hours was grueling, but they all did well. Plaid cakes? Who knew they could be such fun. I was so proud of Jennifer for not falling apart while making her first ever plaid cake. Each of the three chose different techniques to place a plaid design on the out side and they all turned out very good. I had my fingers crossed but wasn't really surprised with the winner. {Spoiler} Congratulations, Melissa! Time for that wedding!

Just finished watching and yay at the winner! At first I thought the judges were going in a (annoying) direction, but I'm really pleased at who they picked.

I was sooo happy Melissa won. Sarah was a good baker, but she was definitely annoying. What was the comp that came on afterwards, Food Network Challenge? Some of those leg lamps looked like Nailed It! creations. That one guy was just not having a good day...

Those bells were also neat!
I fell asleep watching the leg lamps but from what I saw they looked bad. I'll have to rewatch it.

The Challenge show was so dumb. It really did look like a re-creation of one of the original competition shows in that it was clunky with direction and the space was so small. It did feel like an earlier baking show (whose name I can't remember) where they had to transport their creations to a judging table rather than the judges visiting their space like they do now in the Wars shows.
Like what happened to a few in the "barn" show, gravity will do its thing and heavy cake with heavy icing will slide and fall. Having to build on a narrow pole for the leg would be very challenging and I'm surprised the woman who won did so well with the shaping. Not much else to say as I found it a tad boring.

Duff's New Year Bakeoff is on right now and with that the Holiday shows are over for one more year. I really enjoyed the offerings this year but hope they get Lorraine back for next years Halloween Baking Championship.

So I've been watching Worst Cooks in America and I'm beginning to think that it's the Booby Prize of Food Network shows because other than the Anne Burrell no one wants to co-host for more than a season. This year Alton Brown pulled the short straw and is cohost and it's hysterical the lack of patience he has with these bakers; last week he told them that he saw so much mishandling of pork that he wasn't tasting ANY of their dishes and he was going to judge them by looks only. It's like someone is holding a gun to his head to be on the show and he hates absolutely everyone and it's funny as hell. Anyone else watching this trainwreck?

Is anyone going to tune in for the Girl Scout Cookie Championship? Nacho Aguirre and Katie Lee are going to judge along with a third rotating judge. I guess the premise is they have to transform the cookies into sweet sculptures?

He does seem like would rather be anywhere else but there.

Speaking of Alton, whenever someone sends a complaint tweet that he finds interesting, he retweets it and agrees with it! I really miss Cutthroat Kitchen.

This girl scout show so messy. I have no idea who the guest judge is, and the winner only gets a outdoor trip and a year's supply of Girl Scout Cookies...

Yeah it was kind of meh. I was excited because Alyson Hannigan was hosting, and she was okay, but the show and its format is kind of wobbly.

It's like it's a mix of Supermarket Stakeout combined with a regular baking show. It's strange.
Carla Hall and Zac Young are supposed to be two of the rotating judges so maybe it will get better.

The new chocolate championship show is interesting. A cross between master chef and the usual cake baking shows.

I personally enjoyed the girl scout cookie competition and look forward for more. Mondays are definitely dessert night now, with the girl scout cookie competition, then Kids Baking Championship, and now Chopped Sweets, which I think is a fantastic spin-off that I'm greatly enjoying so far.

The Girl Scout show was really good last night. All 3 of the final contestants did a really good job, and I had a really hard time deciding who would win.
