Mafs Fan says that Beth and Jamie broke up just before Thanksgiving. No surprise there.

I have a feeling Jamie and Beth will be breaking up and getting back together A LOT. They seem to thrive on the drama.

The new season started tonight with 5 couples. I think it will feel really rushed with 5 different couples but we will see. I feel kind of sorry for the one guy..can't remember his name but he is the one that is marrying Katie who is still thinking about an ex of hers. I think if they do get married and they make it past the eight weeks that he will leave her after seeing what all she said and how she acted before they got married.

It certainly doesn't bode well that she's still so hung up on him. I hope she doesn't go through with the marriage because clearly her heart isn't in it all the way.

After watching last night's new group of couples, I felt four of them were quite well matched and should do well. Katie and Derek, on the other hand, I feel are a couple who are doomed because of Katie's uncertainty whether she should marry Derek or go back to her former boyfriend. It may be the show deliberately started with five couples because they know Katie and Derek will not go through with the marriage and thus the time will actually be divided between only four couples. Katie seems very immature, not ready for marriage with anybody.

Ditto on the doubts about Katie. She's definitely NOT ready to get married. I'm sort of shocked that the producers haven't called in one of the experts to give her a talking to (at least not yet). She needs an intervention. Derek seems like a nice guy, but this definitely isn't an ideal situation for him to be in as someone who's never fallen in love. Marrying someone who's hung up another guy isn't going to make him excited about finding love after this No major alarm bells about any of the rest of them.....although maybe a tiny one where Zach is concerned. He's just too pretty. I worry that his standards are unreasonably high. As always, I guess time will tell. I always have to remind myself that many of us thought Sean (season 2?) was Prince Freaking Charming after one episode and look how that turned out!

Yes, Zach is sure pretty. And Katie should have been axed.

I'm not good with all their names yet, but right now I'm feeling scared for the girl matched with Zach-of-the-great-hair. She's a touch older than he is, and even though she's pretty, she's not gorgeous like what he's used to, so I'm worried he'll be harsh on her. It made me protective towards her, even though I know nothing about her really, and she could be a nightmare -- who knows?!! The other couple I'm not sure about is the Mama's boy and the girl who's close to her twin (Jessica?). They don't seem like they'd be a match to me. I was surprised to see he's in his 30s, because he really acts young, and she comes across as kinda boring. Maybe I'll be surprised, though!

I’m not sure I can watch Kate if she goes though with this. I’m too am surprised the doctors didn’t step in. I was thinking like others that maybe we will go down to 4 couples.
Laughed when the one girl said she didn’t get the memo about wearing white . Noticed all the guys I think went with the blue tux. Thought black was always the way to go but changed my mind. Will have to tell my son that when the time come...lol
Let the drama begin.....

I was wondering if any of you thought that perhaps Katie should not have been chosen for MAFS because of her diabetes. It's a serious illness and while of course she is deserving of love and happiness, I don't think it's quite fair to the person she is matched with. It's something that would be revealed to him after the marriage and perhaps he would not be on board with it.

It's something that would be revealed to him after the marriage and perhaps he would not be on board with it. No. Not even a little. She's had and managed her Type I Diabetes for, what, 15 years (If I remember correctly that she was diagnosed at 10 and is now 25). While it IS a serious condition, it's manageable and certainly not fatal. If someone has cancer or a disease like MS that can either dramatically shorten their life or seriously change their quality of life, then yeah, I don't think they should cast them. It wouldn't be fair to put someone into that situation without allowing them to choose whether or not they wanted to take that on.
While people with TI Diabetes can have a shorter life expectancy, that's certainly not always the case. A friend of my parents is in his mid-70s and has managed his disease with little to no problems for decades. I think the keys are staying fit and active, maintaining a healthy weight and properly regulating your blood sugar (with diet and with medication). At least that's what this friend says.

Tonight was more weddings and I am not sure what to think about Katie because tonight she seemed like she was really into her husband Derek I think his name is. Hardly any mention of her ex. Brandon and his wife I have a feeling that they aren't going to make it and I don't now why but that is just the vibe I get. He seems to be trying to hard to make everyone like him. I can't even remember the other couples names but she has an identical twin. I thought for sure she wouldn't like her husband just based on looks because she said she like dark hair and beard and someone who is tall and he is none of those but she seemed happy with him so we will see.

I watched Unfiltered and got a different perspective on Katie there. She sounded like she did stop to think about her ex, but had decided to move forward with the wedding. I think she believed her ex about loving her but everyone was telling her it was just a control thing. When she questions Pastor Cal about a comment he made, she really listened to him and it seemed more like it was info to grow with than questioning whether or not he was correct. While I do think she had some angst over her ex calling her with his claims of love, I think TPTB played it up a little too. K&D both seem super sweet and (right now!) I hope they make it. I also loved both of their vows. After all that indecision beforehand watch them be one of the most successful couples. Brandon and Taylor seemed crazy awkward so I hope that improves quickly. Jessica and Austin are both quirky together. The editing was superb when she was talking about she didn't want him to be blond or without a beard and they flashed to him with neither of those things! Happily she didn't seem to mind. For me, Austin took the prize with his hilarious quip about from the moment her met her he knew he was going to marry her! She laughed. I think humor is so important in a marriage.

It's so funny that Timothy Olyphant was on The Good Place this week because I've been thinking since the first episode of this season that Zach looks like a young Timothy Olyphant. Not sure if I hope he's like TO or not, since I don't actually know what he's really like There were several comments from his friends last week that make me worry about whether he's really ready for this. It sounded like maybe he has looked for reasons for various women to NOT be Mrs. Right and then he checks out.
I can't believe they had two whole hours and only fit in three weddings. I wonder if that means we'll get one more episode this season.

I don’t even know that spoilers tags are needed, since this is from People. You can hardly get more mainstream than that. Just in case though.

^ Re the spoiler: I thought that was against the rules.
Previews for the couples don't look promising. I really had a good feeling about Jessica and Austin. I wonder if the "experts" ask if work-related travel is a deal breaker.

Loved the mother’s face when the one guy took a big chunk off the top of the cake. Was that Taylor. He is a bit much for me . His loos remind me of Carlton on Fresh Prince...lol
The twin didn’t seem as happy talking about her new husband as Katie did in the bathroom.
Can’t believe the talks the grooms had with the girls. Crazy. That one girl talking about sex how embarrassing , how would she know what the bride likes...lol
Always lovey dovey until after the honeymoon. Let the drama beginning .

No, those previews don't look great. We'll see how it turns out, but those seemed like some nasty arguments. What was with Katie's friend being so inappropriate in what she was telling Derek? Was she just too drunk to censor her speech? I loved, loved, loved when Zach gave Mindy a wink as she was walking down the aisle. It really calmed her immediately. It was meant for her, just between the two of them. That's what I would like someone to do if it were me. You need those intimate moments even when you know your spouse. The few whispered jokes my husband and I said to each other are what I remember most from my ceremony. nicksmom jinx! We both thought that Katie's friend was too much! {Spoiler} I'm not surprised because I didn't think they were all that compatible at the wedding. I know they just met, but it was more than awkward.

In previous seasons there have been ZERO spoilers, but now there are two big ones. In addition to the one I posted upthread, according to Mafs Fan on IG, {Spoiler} Zach and Mindy are divorced. It sounds like he isn't capable of being a one woman man. Predictably.

Funny how the experts were impressed that they had 5 couples, now there is a train wreck coming.
The first spoiler I can see , even the second one because of what his mother said about him and his other relationships.

According to MAFSFAN Instagram, {Spoiler} Michael files for an annulment from Meka immediately after filming ended. They did not consummate the marriage.
It's weird how both Brandon and Michael filed for annulments when other couples on previous seasons did not consummate their marriages and were not allowed to file for an annulment. So now that is 3 of the 5 couples that split. I think only Jessica and Austin will go the distance. I think Katie and Derek will say yes on Decision Day but ultimately split.

Good grief! After so many seasons of practically NO spoilers, we've already gotten so many (comparatively) just a few weeks into this season. They haven't even left on the honeymoons yet! Odd that we all thought Derek and Katie wouldn't make it to the altar and they seem to be a good match so far. I mean, it's still early days, but.... My two cents about the spoilers: {Spoiler}I'm not surprised about Zack and Mindy or Brandon and Taylor, but I'm definitely surprised about Michael and Meka. They seemed like a good match.

Wow what a train wreck.
At least she called Michael out for how different he is on camera already. Not good when you get your own room on the honeymoon.
I think the Mindy clip happened much later because she had a sunburn on her shoulders . Did she say he didn’t like her looks?
I’m thinking none of them make it this time.

Train wreck, indeed! We've never seen a couple get separate rooms on the honeymoon. I say good for her for not putting up with that. She's not wrong in her assessment. Which version of himself did he portray to the experts, and if he lied to them, did they match them based on false pretenses. If he lied to them, he only has himself to blame if he doesn't get a good match. {Spoiler} After the spoilers I don't have high hopes for this season, but I do hope Jessica and Austin make it. They are so quirky cute together. I'm glad for the spoilers because then I can watch for the signs of the impending train wreck, and I get to make snarky comments. It's kind of fun this way!

Wow, was that a huge u-turn with Michael and Meka or what? He seemed like a good guy, but clearly Meka is right - he's turning it on for the camera. Newly-married men don't bail on the first night of their honeymoon to sleep somewhere else. Brandon seemed like an okay guy in the first episode, but there were times during the wedding reception when he got this almost sinister look in his eyes. It was creepy. My mom noticed it too. It was there a few times, only for a second and then it was gone. Shades of things to come? At this point, the only couple I think has a good chance of making it is Jessica and Austin. They seem well-matched and, well, normal. Derek and Katie seem okay, but her wishy-washiness before the wedding is concerning. Will that come back? I'm totally getting shades of Ashton Kutcher from Derek, both in his speech and his mannerisms. Katie reminds me of the kid from Santa Clarita Diet:
I think that, if there's any one thing to point to as the biggest problem with this show, it's the fact that so many of them are recruited, instead of applying for the show. IIRC, only TWO people on this season actually applied (I think Mindy and Jessica) - the rest were recruited.
