If you watch RuPaul's Drag Race, then you've probably already binged this show, which premiered on Netflix October 5th.
If you don't know Alyssa Edwards (real name Justin Johnson) but have watched Dance Moms or similar shows, there's an element of that to this season since it focuses on Justin taking the junior dancers from his dance school to competitions. But it also focuses on his home life and his drag career (thank gawd, because those dance moms are beyond extra).
Alyssa often came off as an eccentric goofball on Drag Race, but here you see a real person with focused career and life goals, and it's great to see.

Thank you for posting MKWalkoff, it looks like a good show. Was the star a contestant on SYTYCD this year? Alyssa Edwards/Justin Johnson looks a lot like a person who auditioned in drag and made it through a few rounds. On SYTYCD he appeared both in drag and not. An amazing dancer either way and a lot of fun to watch. I googled but can't seem to find if it's the same person so maybe not?
I'll definitely give Dancing Queen a watch!

^^^ Different person. The contestant on SYTYCD was named Jay Jackson, stage name Laganja Estranja.
Based on the trailer, this is sort of Dance Moms meets RuPaul's Drag Race?

Sort of. The dance moms are there but they don't dominate every episode. They have their big drama in the middle episodes, but the beginning and end are more about Justin/Alyssa's life and family (and the kids competing). So it's not all trash reality, but more documentary style.

Would it be cheesy to say this is one of the few BEST reality shows out there??? It has a little of everything: dance, style, striving for betterment, positive enforcement, comedy, drama, all without exhausting the audience with over-the-top made-up pettiness (I'm taking break from Married to Medicine because it's really too out of hand now)
Here's to a second season!

Since buying his first house was a pivotal part of the inital season, it's great that Justin/Alyssa got a video spread courtesy of Architectural Digest! It's always great to see a Drag Race queen flourish after being on the show.
