THANKS etching I went and got the DVR is all set!!! My hubby LOVES this show!!! Last season wasn't bad, they discovered the stone road which nobody knew was there. It was something substantial, rather than the random objects they keep finding everywhere...

Season 9 has begun! Recap of Episode 1: The season begins by digging in the area next to the stone road in the southeast corner of the Swamp. Turns out that you can detect trace amounts of gold in water. Twelve water samples were taken from holes dug in the Money Pit. Three samples contained elevated levels of gold, the F4 sample seems the most promising. Water samples from 20 boreholes dug around the C1 hole will lead to 10-foot caissons later this season. DE-7 was dug 13 feet from C-1. CD-6 was dug 10 feet from C-1. Evidence of a tunnel some 90 feet down was found.

Recap of Episode 3: B4 was dug 14 feet away from D2 with more wood found. Another stone path was uncovered next to the stone path in the Swamp, perhaps leading to the Money Pit. Also found were First Nations pottery artifacts. Approval will be needed before further work can be done so the area is off-limits for now.

Recap of Episode 5: E1.5 was dug 11 feet from C-1 with more wood found. With work currently stopped in the Swamp, focus was switched to the Dunfield spoils in Lot 18 that came from the 100-foot deep excavation of the Money Pit. Wood was found along with what appears to be a stone road underneath the spoils pile.

Recap of Episode 6: Hole D1.5 was dug with more wood found. A decision was made to stop archeological work on the island because the findings made is hindering further excavations around that area. So the three archeologists on the island have been booted.

So . . . today is my 75th birthday.
My daughter had mailed a package to me with strict instructions that I could not open it until today. With difficulty, I succeeded in waiting.
When I opened the package, there was a treasure chest. I looked at my husband and said, "Oh, look!!! I've found the treasure of Oak Island." Inside were a couple of little bags of Gold Mine Nugget Bubble Gum (?), and then we noticed a little thumb drive in the bottom of the vault chest.
Popped it into my computer and spent the next 5 minutes laughing until I cried as I watched a Cameo presentation of Gary Drayton wishing me a customized "Happy Birthday."
Folks, you have not lived until you've heard Gary Drayton say . . . 'arry Po''er. (He even said, "I can't even say that!!!!")
That Cameo, to me, is the Oak Island treasure.

Inside were a couple of little bags of Gold Mine Nugget Bubble Gum (?), and then we noticed a little thumb drive in the bottom of the vault chest. That's great! I thought you would have gotten a piece of wood, since they seem to have found a lot of that on the island so far

Recap of Episode 7:
Hole F2 was dug with more wood found. They have began exploring Lot 4, looking for the location called The Hatch on a 14th century map. Because the area by the stone road in the Swamp is now off limits, the southern edge is being investigated now, looking for signs of a sunken ship in the Swamp.

Recap of Episodes 11 and 12:
Hole A13 was dug, 2.5 feet north of AB13. They might have hit a flood tunnel going to the Money Pit.
Hole AB13.5 was dug but nothing was found. Operations in the Swamp is winding down for the summer, as water in the Swamp will be needed for the wash plant. Digging for the 10-foot caissons will begin soon.

Recap of Episodes 14 and 15:
The first 10-foot caisson being dug is called TF-1 (The Fellowship One). Wood was found at 75 feet and an obstruction at 90 feet. Turns out it was a rock with a hole that the D2 drill bit went through. Below the rock more wood was found along with a boot from 1908.

They've probably got someone doing research to see what size boot FDR wore when he was on the island.

Recap of Episode 16:
Well, TF-1 turned out to be a dud. They found tons of wood in TF-1 but hit rock bottom at 152 feet. They haven't given up on the C-1 hole area though. Looks like the next 10-foot caisson will land around CD4.5, to the right of TF-1 on the other side of C-1.

Recap of Episode 17: The second 10-foot hole, called EC-1 (Early Christmas), was dug eight feet to the right of TF-1, on the other side of C-1. So far, a bunch of wood was found around 90 feet like in TF-1.

Recap of Episode 18: Nothing was found in EC-1 (one foot to the right of C-1). The third 10-foot caisson is at F4 in the Dunfield dig area. Named after Dan Henskee, the third caisson is called DH-82. So far, big chunks of wood have been found.

The way things have gone this season, you could write the exact same thing every week, just changing the caisson number. Sigh. The third one seems the most promising one so far. It's right in the middle of the Dunfield Dig. Dunfield hit water 10 feet above his intended depth, so there could be something below... Recap of Episode 19: DH-82 has reached 100 feet, with a bunch more wood found so far. An underwater magnetic search survey was done on the northern shore of the island, with some potential iron locations spotted.

Recap of Episode 20: Well, so much for DH-82...Hit rock bottom at 153 feet with nothing found, so it was abandoned The fourth and last caisson (DMT-2) is being dug at DE-11, 10 feet to the east of the other caissons. Meanwhile, divers were sent to a location spotted on the magnetic search survey near Frog Island. The handheld underwater metal detector was beeping, but the vegetation on the sea floor covered any visible metal objects.

Recap of Episodes 21 and 22: Well, so much for DMT-2...Lots of wood found, but nothing else. Turns out they have time to do one more caisson this season. So the fifth and last caisson is back at the C1 cluster. B4-C is five feet north of C1, in between TF-1 and EC-1.

Recap of Episodes 23 through 25: More wood was found in B4-C but once again nothing else so B4-C turned out to be a dud just like the other four 10-foot holes dug this season. So to get a better picture of what's underground, a topography imaging scan is now underway in the Money Pit using sensing equipment placed in five holes. Unfortunately, it takes like six months to compile the data for the scan, so it won't be til like mid-season before we see the next 10-foot hole dug. So Season 9 ends with a lot of wood found but no treasure in the Money Pit. I get the feeling the treasure wasn't put at the bottom of the Money Pit but rather in a chamber leading off to the side, making it harder to find it...

Season 10 has began! Recap of Episode 1: Season 10 starts off at the Money Pit. 50 test holes are being dug to track the water flow. The idea is to isolate the origin of the gold traces in the water to a 20x20 foot area. Hole K-15.5 was dug with wood supports from a tunnel spotted at 103 feet. Hole M-16.25 was dug and more wood was found. An underwater camera found a cavity beneath wood supports. Sonar mapping revealed some 35 feet of tunnel. Gold traces were found in the water in the Garden Shaft and the water appears to be heading south toward the tunnel found earlier. Hole DN-12.5 is being dug 20 feet west of the Garden Shaft.

Recap of Episodes 2 and 3: Wood was found at 98 feet in the DN-12.5 hole. Hole A.5N-13.5 was dug. A 10-foot void was found at 55 feet and air bubbles were spotted in the Garden Shaft pond. Plans were drawn up to rehabilitate the Garden Shaft to make it usable again. A concrete pad on top will be added and the shaft rebuilt from the ground up. It currently is 10 feet wide and 77 feet deep. Project should take around 50 days to complete.

Recap of Episodes 4 and 5: Hole L-16 was dug 60 feet south of the Garden Shaft and wood was found at 106 feet. Wood was found in Hole D-17 at 70 feet, perhaps a tunnel leading to an offset chamber? Hole J-15.25 was dug 54 feet south of the Garden Shaft and wood was found at 103 feet. A camera was put down the hole, revealing a tunnel opening at the bottom of the hole. Work has began on the Garden Shaft, with a concrete foundation pad around the top being worked on first. Lot 32 is being investigated as perhaps being an ancient wharf there.
