Bearcata - neither the semi final nor the final produced the bakes you described. They were done in earlier episodes.
However, the people eliminated, saved and winning are the same.
Congrats to Brother Andrew! His family (Father, Mother, Sister) were there to celebrate with him and he can't wait to show the brothers at home.

I would have been happy with either a Dana or Brother Andrew win, and due to Dana's mistakes in the finale I wasn't surprised that Bro Andrew pulled out the win. I didn't think Marissa was going to win just because I realized I didn't really know who she was until these episodes. They all seemed like nice people. At the beginning of the show I thought Tanya or Alex would win but as the challenges went along I started rooting for Bro Andrew and Dana. Overall this was a good cast. I was rooting for Marissa and Tanya and was sadden when Tanya was eliminated but I do think any mix of that cast would have been good.

This was a great finale and I quite enjoyed the final Showstopper. Alex had been a frontrunner, but the others had been stepping it up and he had a subpar day, and at that point, that's enough to be eliminated. I thought Dana was gonna win, Marissa was too nervous and didn't manage her time wisely, but at the end, due to a couple of mistakes by Dana (forgetting her craquelin for her choux puffs and under-baking her meringue) gave Brother Andrew a hard-earned win. Overall it was an enjoyable season with a likable cast, I enjoyed it a lot.

I wish Alex had made the finals, but I did get a little choked up when Brother Andrew won.

I loved how calm Dana stayed, and kept saying she just wanted to have fun baking. I luv'ed it that she won two technical challenges in a row, which is amazing.

I remember watching season 1 or 2 and didn't like those edition as the Americans seemed limited in what they were able to bake and all the confessions were I am going to win, win, win. I really liked it when they chose to make the American edition more like the British one, as it made the cast way more likable.

I'm so happy Brother Andrew won, but I enjoyed all of the contestants, even those who didn't make it to the final. Mariss did stress me because she cried a lot. I really liked the hosts too. I wouldn't mind having this show outside of the Holidays.

The first two or more seasons I remember were filmed in Tennessee and had a down home type atmosphere. That is where Paul got in trouble with Marciela.
I really like that the last two seasons were filmed in the UK tent that we know from the British shows. I do wonder, though, how they time it? Is it filmed on weekends like the British show, or contracted down to two days during the week and over the weekend? When and where do they have time and a place to practice the signature bakes and the showstopper? Surly they don't fly back and forth to the states between episode filming.

The filming is done in August and for a 3 week period. The schedule is to film for 2 days have a day off. This was the schedule for the 2018 show but it only had 6 episodes, I am assuming it was closer to a 4 week shoot for the 2019 season as there were 8 episodes this season.

I watched this and it was fun but so messy. That scene where that guy was cooking and he stuck his fingers into his buttercream, licked them, and then commenced to continue to cook....no. Just no. I do have to admit that "This is supposed to be your own journey" is the perfect clapback when someone asks you baking questions when they aren't allowed to (the technical).

I like the Great Canadian Baking Show but lost access when we "cut the cord" and went to YouTube TV, which we do love. However, I was searching online for the show last night and came across videobakery.net. --All the seasons were available, plus there were tabs to watch other baking shows and reality shows that I have not checked out yet. No sign up and no fees reauired.

It was okay but I was not terrible overwhelmed by it.

I accidently found this and am watching episode 1.
At times it is so sad that the American bakers do not know basic baking terminology like crème du burre.

On the other hand, I seem to remember that Paul Hollywood had trouble pronouncing "s'more," and didn't really know the traditional ingredients.

There, it's bahsil. I laughed when he did it.

Episode 1 - Cookies Episode 2 - Cake Episode 3 - Bread
I keep falling asleep during Bread week. Not because it is boring, I am tired and the music is so soothing I am out like a light.
I do like this bunch of American bakers their enthusiasm for baking rivals the Brits but they are not as knowledgeable with classic baking terms. I think it helps the British cast being so close to Europe that they can explore the flavors of the different countries easier. Also in British baking there is a huge cross over with cooking as they do a lot of savory pies and such while the American's freaked out a bit during Bread week when they had to make "burgers" with many saying they don't cook.
I do remember the version of the GBBO they had in America a couple of years ago and I didn't like it as much as many cast members were so focused on winning or maybe it was the way the producers asked them questions or that the casting director was tasked to pick that type of person. That show never had the same feel as GBBO. This version is much more in keeping with GBBO and I am enjoying it. Thank you ROKU Originals.

The GABS that is currently airing on ROKU is awesome. Paul and Prue really interact with the bakers during the signatures and showstoppers. I love the repartee between them all. Paul is a hoot. I lov'ed it when he said "Susan, you are dead to me." After she told him she improved one of his recipes.

Really like the hosts Amber and Zack I think are their names. Makes me realize how annoying Noel is and how he does not add to the flagship show.
