I watched, but I wasn’t ever a fan of the show to start with. I’m glad they’re moving on without her, but to me it feels like they’re checking off boxes... gay character, check. Interracial marriage, check. Opioid issue, check. Etc. It was okay but it seemed odd without her.

I watched, I don't watch again, it's just another sit com now, minus some biting humour.. I hope for the actors sake it does okay..but I don't see it lasting.

I enjoyed the show and think they handled all the issues well. I'm sure they will continue to work through the absence of the character. To me, it's a kinder, gentler show without Roseanne (the character), and that appeals to me. Her voice in most scenes was headache-inducing, and I never thought her loud nasty behavior was funny at all.

I loved last night's episode, actually laughed out loud several times at the one-line zingers. The writing was clever, sharp and timely. At times, it seemed like the sadness and tearing up over Roseanne being gone was a real-life emotion, not just acting. I'm sure the cast has mixed feelings about Roseanne Barr no longer being a part of the show, although it was her own behavior that caused it. I wonder if any of the cast currently has a relationship with her at all.

I'm looking past the horrible things she's done in the past to give her a pass on this one. It's gotta be very difficult for her to see the show go on without her, so if she wants a little attention while it's happening, so be it. I don't think the fact can be lost that the show would not have continued, and all of the people involved would be without their jobs on the show if she had not signed away her rights to the characters. She's done a lot of wrong things, but that was a right thing that I don't think should be dismissed. She's hurting, even though she hurt herself. Did you see her on Dr. OZ when he had JUST RB and her Rabbi on, acookertv ? She said with the help of her Rabbi she has learned to STOP with the social media. That her kids have told her to STOP with the social media. She said she has NO PLANS to be in the USA when the show premiers as she will be going to ISRAEL to be with friends and family and will not be tweeting. RB tried to DEFEND her horrid post but that fell FLAT very FLAT. Dr. Oz asked her if she is sorry about the TWEET have you reached out to Valerie Jarrett, to tell her how sorry you are. RB said "I never thought about doing that" .... "maybe some day I will" .... "but I did not do anything wrong" ..... "I did not know Valerie Jarrett was black". RB blamed everything on the Ambien. AND THEN...........AND THEN...........we see that TWEET last night............. I have no respect for someone that does something like she did and does NOT own her HORRID behavior and NOW LOOK she is back TWEETING calling everyone ON THE SHOW the "B" word in CAPS. BYE BYE ROSEANNE.

I agree Fanny....if people would stop reading them and the media stop quoting them, we wouldn't be bothered with all that crud people post. R. is not the only person I am talking about. Several people with K. in their initials could also be gone.

BYE BYE ROSEANNE. I did not see that interview. To be honest, i think that with celebrities like Roseanne or Kanye who are clearly dealing with issues, putting them on tv in interviews exploits what they are going through so I try to avoid them. I don't think that a lot of what Roseanne does is okay or excusable, and I tried to say that. But all that said, she did one thing very right in signing away her rights to a show she created and put her heart and soul into to allow he entire cast and crew to keep making a living from it, and I don't look past what a huge thing that was. So while I'm not okay with a lot of what she's done, and do agree that she'd be better off without social media, I can acknowledge what a tough thing last night's premiere must have been for her, and can cut her some slack for acting out of hurt for the day.

She created this show and all the characters in it. Even if she's not physically on the show, she'll be forever linked to it. Of course people would pay attention to her opinions about this show. She's also famous and known for her histrionics. Like it or not, that gets attention.

RB was NOT being EXPLOITED in the least. If you watched the show.....RB wanted to sit down with OZ. She wanted an opportunity to clear up things for ex. RB said over and over and over again to OZ, she did not think VJ was black. She wanted people to know she did not mean to hurt anyone with that tweet. That was when OZ asked her if she had reached out to VJ....RB said no not yet. Mind you this happened in MAY and the interview was AUG and if she did NOT want to hurt VJ why the heck has RB not reached out to her???? I seriously think if she would stop blaming EVERYONE but herself and she sincerely apologized to VJ and all those she hurt, the outcome may have been different. I mean to sit on OZ, tell him she is DONE with Social Media and going to be far away with family in another country and has NO plans on watching the premier at all AND then slams out the tweet she did last night???? She is a TRAIN WRECK.

It's not uncommon for a person like her to recognize the need to stop something, but then not be able to resist the temptation. IF that wasn't true, falling off the wagon wouldn't be a common expression

I thought the treatment of 'her death' was quite appropriate. She herself blamed her outbursts on Ambien (not to mention what else). Drugs were the end for Roseanne in both realms of her character.

Was Roseanne IRL having a drug problem?

Exactly. On last season's show, she was having trouble controlling pain meds. Apparently after her knee surgery she had just as much trouble even though Dan tried his hardest to locate and destroy all her stashes. The addict wants what the addict wants - too bad the poverty (unable to pay for meds friends) had to bind together to share - ALWAYS! a terrible idea.
I was glad to see Dan reach a compromise with himself and their bed at the end of the episode.

Was Roseanne IRL having a drug problem? She blamed her controversial tweets on Ambien. I do realize that .... but was she using other drugs as well? I mean was it a known fact that she was having drug issues? Or just with the ambien?

I watched it and will give it another look next week. Truthfully, I didn't miss Rosanne at all. It's obvious they all (writers and cast) were feeling their way through this first episode without her. Only time will tell if one, or more, of them can become the "lead" character down the road. Many people think it will be Darlene but my money is on Jackie.

This is a hit piece and nothing but clickbait. They quote a few anonymous social media commenters as their evidence? Out of how many millions? They were just fishing for comments and hits. Going to Yahoo for news is like going to Walmart for surgery.

I liked it and I liked the original Roseanne. I am going to give it a chance.
I like how they handled her death as something that could happen to anyone. Pain pill addiction is a real problem right now and so many people got their pills like she did. And I will admit Jackie's breakdown reminded me a lot of my sister when my mom died. She would come to mom's to help me clean out and not want to leave. Yeah, I cried.

I liked this last episode better than the first. I laughed often, and I felt like the characters got more equal time so that was nice. Part of me wants David back since The Big Bang Theory is ending, but that same part wants him to stay with Juliette Lewis (who is like Sandra Bernhard's character reincarnate ). This episode really made me hopeful for the future of The Conners. I think they can pull it off.
