I was so sad Darlene had to deal with her daughter sleeping with her boyfriend with Blue’s knowledge and approval. Before anyone starts with the name Blue, I have a daughter named Blue. 😄

I like that Darlene is getting a boyfriend. Looking forward to seeing how that develops. Jackie will also have a boyfriend, played by Matthew Broderick. Hope that's not a spoiler - it's been announced. I probably wouldn't have thought of him for the part.

I thought it was a great episode. I say bring David back and keep him with the girlfriend. I like that Darlene is dating, too.

I would love to see them let Darlene get into a serious relationship, and get into the dynamic of raising kids with four points of view instead of just two. I think there's a lot they could do with that!

I wouldn’t be so quick to say Darlene has a boyfriend... she picked a guy up in a bar for sex. I thought there were sparks between her and David and he can’t be pleased Blue let his daughter have her first experience like that. She didn’t give any thought to how the parents felt about it.

Promos for the show say Darlene gets a boyfriend, and on TV shows, if someone is a one-night stand, he/she is usually not a well-known actor. Whether the relationship will last the season is yet to be seen. There was some talk that Juliette Lewis will not be on the show all season.

Is DJ going to get more storylines to be in this season?

Is DJ going to get more storylines to be in this season? I don't think they've said one way or the other, but it would not surprise me if he always remains a minor or supporting player. On the original show he seemed to get less storylines than Becky and Darlene. Acting wise I don't think he's as strong as some of the others on the show, and it seems from the way they talk about the cast in publicity that some came back because they wanted to, and he was one who came back more out of feeling an obligation to the cast/crew than because he really wanted to be back on TV.

Is DJ going to get more storylines to be in this season? If he doesn't they need to at least give it to his wife. I love her.

I wasn't a huge Roseanne Show fan, so I watched the first Connors episode, more out of curiosity than anything else. And it was 'okay.' But I really loved this 2nd episode, and if this is the direction the show will be taking, I will be all in!
And surprisingly, I didn't miss Roseanne Barr at all. In fact I kinda liked NOT having to listen to her screechy voice and cryptic comments all the time.

I couldn't figure out where I had seen Johnny Galecki and Juliette Lewis together before...just dawned on me they were brother and sister in Christmas Vacation.

I liked the episode and agreed with Dan. I'm glad that some places weren't so strict about Halloween costumes when I was younger.

I don't remember ANYBODY being strict about Halloween costumes when I was young. I don't even remember anyone even talking about the 'political correctness' of costumes, until fairly recently.

Well, it has been several episodes and I like what I am seeing. Sara Gilbert is a very good actress---better than I thought when she was in Roseanne's shadow; the use of very good actors like Juliette and Matthew is brilliant. Matthew's characterization had so many layers that I was amazed at how he presented the character.

It's up against The Voice and NCIS, which is tough, but it's holding its own. The numbers should go up a little when The Voice is done.
It still generates almost twice the viewers as the other sitcoms on that night, including Black-ish.

I didn't see the newest episode yet, but I thought last week was real good. Becky's character has some funny lines.

I laughed when they wouldn’t give the daughter dating advice, but when she said she’d go to Aunt Becky, they were all, Nooooooo! 😄 I like the guy Darlene is involved with.

Katey Segal was fabulous as the "potential" girlfriend. Although Dan wasn't ready, I hope she continues in the role, working toward a relationship. Matthew Brocerick's character is so off the wall, I had to laugh. He is great with Laurie.

I didn't recognize her either and it was driving me crazy also. She must have had some very, very good work done as she looked better than when she was Peg Bundy. I had to look on the internet for the information.

Ditto! I didn't recognize her either! And I liked her first encounters with Dan. I don't know if I want her for Dan for the long term, but I liked their flirtation.
I'm NOT liking Matthew Broderick on the show though. I love him (in real life) but not as this weird character on The Conners.
Have to say --- I'm really, really enjoying this show, and I'm totally surprised, cause it was never one of my favorites in its former incarnation as 'Roseanne.' But the writing is really tip top (!!!) and I love NOT having the annoying Roseanne around. So without her, it's a win/win for me.

I'm loving the show without Roseanne, too. The other actors have a chance to shine, instead of mainly just having to react to Roseanne. Don't miss that loud screechy voice, either. I hope this show has a long run.
I also think Matthew Broderick is a strange pick to play that character. I can't tell if he's supposed to be a very clever bad guy or just a decent guy who is somewhat weird and confused. Maybe that's the point. In any case, if he's taking advantage of Jackie, it's because she is letting him, which is ironic considering she's supposed to be a life coach now, pointing out other people's mistakes and bad choices.

I'll add my 2-cents in that I also enjoy The Conners without Rosanne. Previously the focus was all on her; now it's on the other family members. I like the addition of Katey Sagal and Darlene's boss. Knowing Sara Gilbert's gay in real life, it's interesting to watch her interactions with the boss. I could do without the Matthew Broderick character; there's just something about him I have no interest in. As long as the writing continues to be as sharp as it is, I think it's a winner.
My one complaint is what sounds like the added laugh track. Since the show is recorded in front of a live studio audience, no laugh track should be necessary.

I agree wit everyone who’s saying 👎 to Broderick and 👍 to no Roseanne. I never liked the show and now I realize I just didn’t like Roseanne.

Any chance the show is playing up the irony of someone being a life coach but not being very good at managing their own life? If not, the reality is that many of us are good at seeing what others need to change and supporting them in it while having our own blind spots. Coaches, therapists, etc. are no exception.
