Right? Half way through, I said, and why are watching this? I'm actually worried well run out or binge the better shows.. My husband is finishing up Tiger King. I just couldn't. I tried to watch more but these people are so awful and those poor animals.
I do think everyone is bored because it seems many of my FB are watching it. I finished with both seasons of Zumbo's Just Desserts. Not sure what I will watch next. I recently got hooked on a PBS show but I don't think its streaming anywhere. I was staring the series one DVD in the face at the library before we closed and didn't get it!
I told my so that I'm more interested in Altered Carbon. We're currently going through Man In The High Castle.

I needed to watch an episode of The English Game after. People want to see a season two, myself included. It's so much more than just the game. Although, footy in the UK, is like hockey here..

Partway through season three of Ozark - it's excellent, but I think I'm going to sprinkle in a few episodes of the new Nailed It! for some silliness because Ozark is so stressful. Just when you think they can't get in any deeper, they go and do it...

Has anyone watched Unorthodox?
It's about a young married woman fleeing her Orthodox Jewish family in Brooklyn NY for freedom in Berlin. It's intriguing. An interesting view into a religion I didn't know much about. The lead actress is very good!

The Two Popes I'm not Catholic, or religious, but Hopkins and Pryce were a delight to watch. They played off one another so well, disagreeing how the church should be run. There was laughter and sadness, but most of all, damn good acting. I adore Anthony Hopkins he's 82, and made a most perfect Pope.

Heard about Unorthodox somewhere else and if there's a place to start your life over it's Berlin. I'll be checking that out right after I finish Babylon Berlin.

I should have noted in my first post that quite a bit of it is yiddish, so therefore there are subtitles. I normally don't like movies (or shows) with subtitles but it didn't bother me at all with this series. I could have watched a lot more episodes. I even watched the "making of unorthodox" at the end.

I studied German in college and was surprised how much of the Yiddish I could understand.

We are finishing up all three seasons of BROADCHURCH. WE LOVE IT. We are going to MISS it so much at the end of S3. I absolutely love David Tennant and Olivia Colman.

I wasn't ready for the series to be over, so yah...I enjoyed the making of episode. It was just about costume design and all the research that went into the culture etc.

It sounds like the new episode may have something to do with Todd Lowe's new "facility" - he claims the filmmakers were there shooting footage. I sort of wonder what more needs to be said about that whole dumpster fire.

I broke and watched the first two episodes of Unorthodox and I LOVE IT. Love all the shots of Berlin. That poor girl...if I had in-laws like that I would run away too! Also, they really went there with the Hassidic/Israeli conflicts. I can't wait to see how it all ends.

We finished BROADCHURCH and started UNORTHODOX.
Thank you all for posting about UNORTHODOX, we started it really late as we were finishing BROADCHURCH last night.
Do to the lateness we only got through 2 of the 4 episodes of UNORTHODOX.
Very very good.
We also recently finished OZARK. To those that want to watch this Season but are finding 'dark' shows too much, THEN DEFINITELY WAIT.
The ending episodes shocked me and it's a bit disturbing. So hold off.

Finished Unorthodox and I WANT MORE. I really enjoy stories from people that haven't been told ad nauseum and loved this. I need to know more. Does Esther continue with the [redacted]? Does she get into the school? Will Yemke said "Screw it" to overbearing mother and aunt and join Esther in Berlin? Will Moishe's bad habits catch up with him? I really hope there's a second season because I really want to see how everything turns out.

I want a much longer second season!!

We finished UNORTHODOX last night and then watched the "MAKING OF"!
What a great series. The "Making of" is a must watch if you have not seen it.
I went to Deborah Feldman's (author of Unorthodox) wiki page and it was hard to tell if there will be an S2.
I really want to know what happens to Esty.
Does she get the scholarship, does she return with Yanky to NYC, does she have her baby and stay in Berlin with her Mom????
So many questions............
One thing I found totally BIZARRE was the LACK of EDUCATION for any of them.
I realize they have religious rules but oh my, Etsy and Yanky really have no clue what it is like to live outside their Hasidic community.
And the fact that Yanky tells his Mother EVERYTHING about his life/marriage with Esty. Bizarre.

And the fact that Yanky tells his Mother EVERYTHING about his life/marriage with Esty. Bizarre. Sadly, based on what I know about the Hassidic community from Jewish friends it's extremely accurate. Women really aren't supposed to be educated; you're supposed to aspire to be a good wife and mother to a multitude of children; that is your function in life and if you feel otherwise something is wrong with you. People stay in other people's business, especially family members. Children are considered family property, so if the wife wants to leave the husband for any reason the chances of her keeping the children are practically nil. There's a few women's shelters for battered women in NYC that specialize in helping women from these communities for a reason.

I watched all of Unorthodox this afternoon - I need a few more episodes! I can't see Esty going back to that suffocating "life" back in NYC, so in my head she stays in Berlin with her mom, gets that scholarship, and enjoys living her life. That's my ending, unless they want to give us another season...
