Bah humbug. I listened to you guys and watched Hillbilly Elegy. They did a great job casting the old and young main character. Sad, but worth it. Glen Close was awesome.

Peppermint - Jennifer Garner in a tour de force. I never watched Alias, but I have read her character in the a** kicking department is similar. I resisted watching it, but I'm glad I did. She brought down the HAMMER!

Hillbilly Elegy - great acting, but I honestly hated the editing. I don't usually mind stories told in flashbacks, but here it just made scenes that should have been really touching and emotional fall flat, IMO. Too much jumping around for me. *shrug* Christmas Chronicles Part 2 - just as fun as the first one, Kurt Russell makes the best Santa. That airport scene, though... Ghosts of War - supernatural WWII tale with a big twist at the end. I liked it a lot. Holiday Home Makeover - four different homes get decorated for Christmas. Not bad.

Christmas Chronicles and Christmas Chronicles Part 2 - Very cute and adorable holiday movies. Love Kurt as Santa. I laughed more than I thought I would. The one thing that threw me off was Tyrese being in the second movie. I kept wondering if Vin Diesel was going to come out in a fast car. But I was pleasantly surprised as I hadn't seen him in this type of role before and I thought he did well. Did I mention Kurt was born to play Santa?

Been watching Kim's Convenience Store and it's hysterical. The first episode with the gay discount was great.

That is on my list to watch. We spent the weekend watching Alice in Borderland. Its a Japanese drama/scifi about a trio of friends in Tokyo who one afternoon are the only people around. They are forced to play "games" in order to survive. If you are smart enough to figure it out, you get a "visa" which is a set amount of days "off". There are other people plucked from the present world to play the games as well. It gets dark fast and was thoroughly enjoyable. Hope there is a season 2.

We watched the prom, it wasn't bad..it had a great message, that got a little lost, maybe because the show was a bit long. . We love Meryl Streep, but her face looked odd to us.. Yesterday we watched Les Mis, we have seen the show umpteen times, this was the second time, we watched the movie, and thoroughly enjoyed it.(it continues to bring me to tears )

Any FoRT FANS watching VIRGIN RIVER think the lead actress playing MEL .... looks exactly like Lindsay Lohan.
Every time I see her on the series (which is allot) I think she looks like she could be LL's sister.

Ava - why didn't I listen to the poor reviews in this thread? What a waste of a great cast this was. Could have been a really good action movie but instead was a mediocre family drama, basically. Boo. Derry Girls - I tore through both seasons after seeing the cast in the GBBO special. Looking forward to season three whenever they can get back to filming... Braven - a decent action movie that I only watched because Jason Momoa was in it. The Ripper - true crime doc from the UK about a serial killer and the shiesty police work that let it go on too long.

The Ripper - true crime doc from the UK about a serial killer and the shiesty police work that let it go on too long. We just finished watching it this morning. Now I'll be headed down a rabbit hole of shows and research on this. In a nutshell - let's ignore the police "identikit" composite drawing that looks EXACTLY like this guy who has been interviewed NINE TIMES as the potential killer. Instead, let's bank on a couple of letters and an audio tape sent in by an anonymous person who claims to be the killer, and let's (us police) make declarative statements like, "We're not talking to ANYONE without a 'Geordie' accent, based on the tape." And more women continue to be killed. Oh . . . and instead of making a curfew for MEN (since the killer is one), let's make WOMEN stay off the streets at night. Sheesh.

AZChristian it was so frustrating to watch. They were so stuck on the women all being prostitutes (untrue) and the killer having that accent (also untrue). I read that Peter Sutcliffe died last month in jail...of coronavirus.

The Midnight Sky - I was so looking forward to this, but was a bit disappointed. Good acting, visually beautiful...but after an interesting opening it plodded along for over an hour with no real direction and ended sort of oddly. Not a terrible movie, but not a great one, either.

I'm putting it off as I'm a book purist on this one. The diversity doesn't bother me, but character switches and new characters do. There was no Queen nor rival and the first book, The Duke and I, begins with the Duke's story before introducing the tight-knit Bridgerton crowd.
from watching the previews and reading online, I will be talking to the screen a lot. I'll wait, not ready yet.

I'll wait, not ready yet. I get it. I actually have the audiobook in my library queue and decided to wait to listen as I know there will be huge differences. The biggest mistakes I have done is to read the book before the movie or tv show. It took me several years to get over that but I still don't read the book before the movie/tv show else I spend the entire time watching saying to myself, "that didn't happen", "that's out of order", or waiting for something to happen they edited out, or "who is that character". I luv'ed Clan of the Cave Bear but the movie was horrid, they could do a much better job of the novel now. Let's not even go into to how they butchered Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series also known as HBO's True Blood. I get that a novel is a step into that world and that there will be deviations to the point that the tv series does not even resemble the novels. However, when a show runner changes the basic premises of a world is where I draw the line. In the Southern Vampire/True Blood novels fairies as characters as a species were almost wiped out by the vampires but they never ever were the helpless, ineffectual wimps that were the TV version.

Bridgerton - 3 episodes in and so far it is pretty good. I binged 7 episodes Christmas Day (Call the Midwife came on and that is a tradition) and finished up on Saturday. Loved it. I have only read the first three books, so I was familiar enough. I don't mind some changes. It didnt' detract from the story. It was highly addicting. My only complaint was, my gosh, all the sex! Constantly, in places that surely people would have found them!

I just finished Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and WOW! It reminded me of the theater and I liked thinking of how the staging would be. And what chameleons both Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis are. Such incredible actors. What a thief cancer is to rob us of Mr. Boseman's greatness.
