We watched two movies on Netflix this weekend. The first is Ashin of the North Kingdom. We loved the series Kingdom and this was kind of a prequel following the woman we saw at the end of season 2. I loved it. My husband thought it dragged. He wanted more zombies. I told him to be patient. The second one we saw was Blood Red Sky. It is about a plane that is hijacked. There is a woman on there with her son. She appears to be dying..... wow, what a twist! IT was maybe 20 minutes too long, but we really liked it. You watched the same two movies we did. I agree about Blood Red Sky - they should have tightened up that last hour, it ran a bit long. Good story, though. I've always preferred the {Spoiler} Nosferatu style vampires over the sparkly, pretty ones we have in most vampire movies I love everything Kingdom and the Ashin movie was no exception. I want season three! Hated Blood Red Sky - it wasn't even a good "bad" movie. It is over 2 hours long which is about 60 minutes longer than it needed to be. Edit people. It takes 30 plus minutes to get on the plane and to get establishing shots. What a waste. The dialog was horrible as was the dubbing. I was fast forwarding through the entire thing. I HATE HATE HATE gratuitous violence against animals and to see the main character kill the poor chihuahua was nauseating. It is also incredibly stupid to have vampires kill animals or humans and not drink all their blood and then leave almost all the blood pooling on the floor. Then there were the stupid child characters. Do I really believe this kid was in shock after being so headstrong he just crawls through the bowels of the plane. It wasn't even stupid to be deliberately stupid, this was poor acting, poor script writing, inept directing. There are much, much, better "bad, stupid" movies to watch that are actually enjoyable and fun.

I am looking forward to it, but I want season three too!

I went back a page or two but didn't see a mention of Harlan Coben's "Safe" or "The Stranger". If you like thrillers/suspense, these are both good binge watches. There is another series from the same author called "The Woods". Still need to check that out. I enjoyed these too. I noticed a new this week by Harlan Coben called The Innocent. It was good .

I am watching Gun Powder Milkshake with Lena Headey (GOT Cersai). Violent but satisfying and fun? All of the above and also a lot of older woman power! Karen Gillan is the youngest lead at 33, but the rest are in their 40's and up. IIRC, Lena Headey and Carla Cugino are just under 50, Michelle Yeoh is in her 50s and Angela Bassett is 62.....and they all kicked butt! It was awesome!

Gunpowder Milkshake was excellent. I can see the comparisons to the John Wick movies with the stylized violence, but the cast was what got me to watch.

Young Royals Swedish tv series: Prince Wilhelm adjusts to life at his prestigious new boarding school, but following his heart proves move challenging than anticipated. Well written and directed. It's a short series but you really felt for these characters quickly. I wish it had a faster pace but it didn't take away from anything.
Sophie: A Murder in West Cork docuseries: A look at the life of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, and an investigation into her death in 1996. Interesting and well done. I was not familiar with this story before watching. Sex/Life: A suburban wife and mother takes a fantasy-charged trip down memory lane that sets her present on a collision course with her wild-child past. A steamy sexy show you have to just go with and not take too seriously. My girlfriends also watched so it gave us laughs over cocktails! The Innocent Spanish tv series, Harlan Coben adaption: An accidental killing leads a man down a dark hole of intrigue and murder; just as he finds love and freedom, a phone call brings back the nightmare. I love a good Harlan Coben adaption and enjoy Mario Casas so this series didn't disappoint.

The Mire '97 - season two of the slow-burn Polish crime series. It was even better than the first one, and I loved the first season. Hope they do a third...
Outer Banks (season two) - more over the top hijinks with the OBX Scooby gang. I'm definitely not their target demographic but it's a fun show. And something is seriously wrong with that boy Rafe.
Charlie Says - a plodding tale of the Manson murders from the point of view of the three women who killed for him. Didn't really get into this one.
ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band From Texas - this came out in 2019 but I remembered it was on my list and decided to watch after hearing about Dusty Hill's passing. Really well done.
The Swarm - very slow going for the first hour, then picked up. Not really the horror movie I thought it would be, more of a psychological thriller. It was just okay.

Netflix just released the first four episodes of the final season of Grace and Frankie. There's no release date for the rest of the season, but it won't be until 2022. Part of me wanted to wait and watch them all at once, but then I caved and binged all 4 episodes in a row. I'm SO going to miss that show. I love the entire cast.

Sex/Life - The lead character was so stupid and unlikeable I could barely enjoy all the nudity. And there was a LOT of it. Aftermath - a decently done thriller about a dream house gone very wrong, based on real events. Brand New Cherry Flavor - extremely weird and occasionally very gross revenge thriller/horror-noir. I really liked it, but it definitely won't be for everyone...

I am also terrified of cats so that adds a whole other intensity for me. Very unique series. Aftermath is up next on my list.

I just didn't get it. We watched the first episode, so I thought we gave it a good chance. I did watch Bake Squad which wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I don't regret watching it but I'm not looking for a season 2.

Currently watching Bake Squad. I like that it is not a competition like we are used to watching and the same five bakers, mentored by Christina Tossi, take on real world challenges.

I just watched Icarus, about the Russian doping scandal. If anyone is puzzled about why so many are angry that Russian athletes have been allowed to compete in the Olympics, watch this. It's shocking, and I'd read a bit about the situation already.

The research was staggering as to how much doping goes on in Russia with their athletes YET Putin disagrees with all the findings. The one Russian whistleblower is in witness protection in the USA due to his coming forward with so much data, info, facts call it what you want on how all the athletes are using banned substances in order to WIN.

Last night, I stumbled upon Untold which featured the story of female boxer Christy Martin. I remember seeing her box once or twice years ago. It was really interesting.

The thing I found so shocking was how institutionalized the doping is/was. It wasn't just random coaches or training centers; there is/was a whole infrastructure connected to the drug testing system.
I really want to watch Clickbait, but I need to wait until I have the time to really focus on it.

I watched the first 5 episodes of ClickBait yesterday. Wow! I desperately need to know who killed this man! But I too am going to have to wait until I have time to actually watch. It's not one of those in the background while working shows
