I haven't seen it. It sounds like something I would need to watch in small sections because that guy is messed up. Ugh, I don't think I can stomach watching a man and his cronies build and live out their sex fantasies with young girls all under the guise of it being a religion. From my understanding the elders looked as their sons as potential mates for all the wives so they basically kicked them out when they got old enough. Yes, that seems to have been the case. Then some of them started getting kicked out and their wives (and children) "reassigned".

My financial life is getting to the point where I have to do trade-offs. First to go is Netflix - saves 9.99 a month. It's ok as I don't find myself going there much anymore. I still have Amazon Video through a Prime subscription that won't come due until fall and I'll keep Hulu and Discovery+ for now. Fire sale...I'm paying off my new bed and hopefully I'll have enough for extra payments for a wheelchair. Oh, and internet for awhile, anyway. There is public wifi on the top floor library and lobby area so I can still stay in touch. Now...deep breath and cancel Netflix (you know, I started with them when all you could do is rent DVDs...it beat Blockbuster for convenience. )
P.S. It's done. I can still view programming until 6/19 the billing date and everything stays intact for 10 months.

Arielflies - have you applied for this program? Apparently, you can get up to $30 off on your internet bill. It might help! www.fcc.gov/acpI feel like canceling Netflix is a decision a lot of subscribers are considering. I know I am. I'm getting ready to cancel all of my premium channels and just getting HBO Max. I think I'll eventually just go to streaming and not have any cable service. I watched the FLDS doc when it was released. Just when you thought that group was crazy enough, Jeffs came in and made it even worse. The whole thing was creepy, but when they showed all the girls singing for Jeffs, it was even worse. I really felt for all of the folks who finally got out. How do you even begin to make a "normal" life after that?

Can you split the Netflix subscription with a friend? My sibling has Netflix and can have up to 4 users. He comes over to my house all the time and installed it on my TV so I basically have it for free.

No, I don't have a friend to do that and I do have the program where I pay 39.99 for internet. That will be the last to go. Since I have Netflix until the 19th, I'm going to re-watch my favorites. I would take out Peacock as I have the local NBC station courtesy of a dish on the roof of the apt building...but, Peacock carries the Bravo shows in real time or next day (not next season) so I'll keep that. I can't get CBS locally so I'll also hang onto Paramount. And, of course Hulu. I'm still considering Discovery and Disney...sigh. Altogether, without Netflix, and including my renters insurance, phone and internet, the cost is $100. Not bad, but I bought a bed and put that on a "plan" with Visa, another $60.00 a month. After rent I have $200 left from social security to pay for all of this. Still have a couple months of savings to help out and having SNAP for food really helps; but not for non-food items. I've been strategizing for awhile and thank goodness I don't have to pay utilities.

Okay, I'm re-watching The Amazing Spiderman and the Netflix system froze solid. HA! One of the choices on why you want to cancel was freezing too often.

Netflix has okayed Squid games 2. Animal Kingdom arrives July 1th, 5th and final season. Animal Kingdom has a sixth season that starts this Sunday on TNT. Are you outside of the US? Cause season five recently came on amazon prime in the US. Some of these shows get confusing as to their whereabouts. 😆

It's definitely 5 coming to Netflix. lonnie, thanks for the heads up though, I checked and 6 is coming to a new channel we dont normally watch..so we have to wait for 5 on Netflix, and record 6. Meanwhile, we like Peaky Blinders, and Bosch on Prime..

Sometimes she'll have Netflix, sometimes Britbox, sometimes Acorn. I think she keeps Paramount and has Prime all the time. She binges shows on one service and then moves to the next for a while.

Sorry, I'm going to take a hard pass on that one. Persuasion is my favorite Austen and I'm a purist. DJ is just far too pretty (and what's with all the makeup!?) to play Anne Elliot. Plus, I'm just not a DJ fan. I'll stick with the sublime Amanda Root/Ciaran Hinds version. It's close to perfect.
Looking forward to season 2 of Squid Game.

That's a really good idea! I don't think any of the streaming services (or prime channels) have a penalty for canceling at any time. And many of them offer a free 1st month --- so I wonder if that offer would still be made if a former customer was signing up again -- and again. Hmmm. . .

Yeah, most streaming services don't have cancellation fees. I don't think she gets them free for the first month over and over, but at least she's only paying for usually 2 at a time instead of 4 or 5. (Not including prime because it's included in the membership for other stuff.)

On Prime, wants you have subscribed, you are not eligible for endless "free trials". You just click and are subscribed again. You can click the free trial, but Prime recognizes that channel in your lineup from the past, and you activate immediately. At least, that has been our experience AMC+. Also, whatever the recent price increase is for that channel, that is what you will be charged. Even if a discounted price was clicked on to start. So, starting and stopping is very simple, but, you will be paying the most recent price increase each time.

I agree that Amanda Root and Ciaran's version of Persuasion has been my favorite, and I have re-watched it numerous times..... but, I am always open to the new renditions. So, you will probably be horrified when you read this Critical... but, I actually enjoyed Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeremy Northam's version of Emma. What can I say? I am amenable to anything Austen.

Looks like this iteration of Iron Chef is dropping all at once, maybe.
Highly recommended...Alton and Kristin are hysterical together and the cooking superb. The Chairman is over-the-top and delightful. Where the previous show could get stuffy, this one has a lot of humor to it. LOVE IT!!!

My NETFLIX subscription ends tomorrow. I'm saying good-bye today by watching the last season of Great British Baking Show.
There will be series I will miss, and maybe later - much later - I can sneak back in for a month or two for this show and others when the new seasons finally drop. Sad, not sad.

Love, Death & Robots: Volume 3 - I love this kind of sci-fi/fantasy animation, I wish they had more like this to watch. Good stuff. Who Killed Sara (season 3) - more over the top drama that had me rolling my eyes, but it was fun nonetheless. In Spanish. Ricky Gervais' SuperNature - I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the guy. Norm MacDonald: Nothing Special - his final stand-up, filmed at home. Kind of sad to watch, it's like he knew this would be his last by some of the things he said...I enjoyed the discussion with the group of comedians at the end, also. Meltdown: Three Mile Island - this was just sad to watch. The incompetence, lies, cover-ups...infuriating. Spiderhead - Chris Hemsworth plays a "brilliant visionary" at a fancy penitentiary, experimenting on people with various drugs. Yeah. This would have been a good Black Mirror episode, but it was an okay popcorn movie. The ending was goofy.

I’m enjoying a series called The Unexplained hilariously narrated by William Shatner. His melodramatic, mysterious voice with his trademark pauses absolutely cracks me up. The first episode was about evil places. The second one was structures with some element of unknowable construction. There are other “experts” weighing in, but they seem embarrassingly tawdry and serious. I can’t wait to watch more. 🤣

I saw the episode on super-humans. It was really interesting, and I'm hoping the information presented was actually factual. Who knows, with some of these overly dramatic shows! I'm not crazy about the melodrama and hyper-mysteriousness of the presentation, but I try to fast-forward through Mr. Shatner's introductions into the actual segments themselves.

Spiderhead - Chris Hemsworth plays a "brilliant visionary" at a fancy penitentiary, experimenting on people with various drugs. Yeah. This would have been a good Black Mirror episode, but it was an okay popcorn movie. The ending was goofy. I was thinking about the (alleged) words of 43 after 45's inauguration: "That was some weird sh!t" The only really enjoyable part of the movie for me was the soundtrack. As soon as I heard Supertramp, I was IN. Even if the movie wasn't great, I watched it for the music I'd buy a soundtrack if they put one out. Total nostalgia!
It was an okay premise, but the execution was flawed.
The Man From Toronto has gotten SLAMMED online, but it looks kind of fun. I like Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. It's not the kind of movie I ever expect much from, so maybe my lowered expectations will work in my favor
ETA: I found this article with the list of all the songs in Spiderhead. That's a good list!

Snowflake Mountain - quick and easy 8 episodes about parents sending their spoiled entitled twenty year old children who won't get a job and get out of their homes to a 5 star resort for a holiday. If these are the kids our society is producing we are doomed.
The Man from Toronto - would never pay to see it in the movie theater but quirky fun. Anytime anyone can TONE DOWN Kevin Hart it is a treat. A weird kind of buddy movie.
