ALERT: Tonight's episode starts an hour earlier at 8PM ET, because of the 2-hour season premiere of Million Dollar Listing afterward.
It’s Restaurant Wars (Part 2) - Tom's announcement of a double elimination piles on even more pressure. "Top Chef" alum turned James Beard Award winning chefs Karen Akunowicz and Nina Compton join the restaurant crawl along with Nilou Motamed and guest judge and James Beard Award winning restaurateur, Caroline Styne.
Enjoy the show!

Lesson learned for the producers - the timing of restaurant wars matters. Doing it later in the season weeds out weaker chefs, and allows everyone to be in the groove of competing. Doing it early keeps weaker chefs participating which waters downs the teams. That’s why, according to Tom, this was the most problematic ever.
On a positive note, I like that they left it on each team to train the wait staff. There have been years in the past I thought the staff carried mistakes, and liked that the FOh people who didn’t bother with managing their team felt the consequences of it.

I have never really liked this particular challenge ever in the history of the show.

Oh Nini. That was bad. I wonder if the servers were servers in real life or just extras for the show. I agree that three restaurants is too much.

Boy Nini really looked bad on these two episodes. I was surprised she was eliminated though because Padma seemed to like her. Though there's Last Chance Kitchen so maybe she'll return. (Not that I want her to.)

Interesting episode and interesting outcome. I agreed with the judges decision.

Normally I enjoy Restaurant Wars but I hated the three team dynamic. It looked like everything was cheapened (from the design of the restaurants to the food) to accommodate having three teams and I really wasn't here for it. With that said, it was obvious that the team that won was a lot better than the others; in particular Brian's OCCness came in handy, especially when it came to training the servers.
On the other hand, Nini's team was a mess. Did she even bother to train the servers? Because by all the mishaps with food reaching the wrong tables, going back to the kitchen, etc it really didn't seem so. I like Nini, but she and the other person were the best bets to go home since their performance (or lack of) brought their teams down considerably.

One thing for certain: Nini's baking, cooking and waitressing experience didn't equate to the ability to run a busy restaurant's front of the house operation. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't until watching the episode that she recognized how clueless she really was.
(The episode showcased Nini disappointed that the tables were not yet in position and instead of training, directed the waitstaff to polish flatware.)

Perhaps they will have a second restaurant wars
Because Nene was winning final challenges, I do think she must be a force. I guess she is a shining cook but has zero front house skills. She needs to work on her grace. I would rather see her than brother.
