Finally saw Midsommar unspoiled and wow, that was a LOT to digest (especially a particularly powerful scene of shared grief). If I were to give a description of this movie to someone who had never seen it I would have to say it's about cycles: life, death, and grief. It's also oddly cathartic? I'm glad I saw it.

The Gentlemen. Whoa what a ride, you need to pay attention, because in their world everyone is double crossing everyone. Guy Ritchie is back in top form. Mcconaughey is gold. Michelle Dockery is far away from Downton Abbey in a role not to be missed, her cockney accent is brilliant. I'm so glad Colin Farrell and Guy Ritchie are friends as he, as always, perfectly rounds out the cast. And if we are to be honest - this is Hugh Grant's best role of his career, I didn't recognize him in the trailers. It's well worth seeing the movie for him alone, That's all I can say without giving anything away.. We'd like to see it again, so much going on, and I was amazed at how much humor was lost on some of the audience..

I finally got around to seeing It Chapter Two. Let me start by saying, It is one of my favorite books. I enjoyed the first part, the second not so much. They could have cut out about 45 minutes from it and I would have been fine. What they did cut was the whole part of Audra. She was barely in it for a second and has a much larger role in the book. That said, the depiction of Pennywise at the end was much better than the TV miniseries!

The Goldfinch. We thought this was beautiful done. The lead was very good.
Peanut butter falcon. Another movie we didn't expect to enjoy, as much as we did. It was lovely.

I went yesterday to see Parasite. I think I liked it a lot. Loved the first half. I get what they were doing with the third act but I’m still torn on it. I’m not sure they fully set up the justification for what happened.

Just saw 1917 and it was PHENOMENAL. EMOTIONAL as anything. The acting was fabulous, the storyline amazing and the cinematography and soundtrack just outstanding. THANK YOU SAM MENDES for such a MOVING movie.

Zombieland: Double Tap.... we loved the first one, this one not so much. Everyone was phoning it in. It felt cliched and just not funny. The only good part was Bill Murray.

Knock Knock. Eli Roth's worst movie that I've seen.

Was in the mood for some film noir so I watched Romeo is Bleeding for the first time in ages. It wasn't a hit at the time but I've always enjoyed Gary Oldman and Lena Olin in it, and the music is great.

Last Christmas - I had high expectations for Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding Christmas rom com. I adore Emilia Clarke but she and most of the cast were annoying and gave me a headache. It was cheesy, outdated, had was NOT a romantic comedy. The Rhythm Section - A woman basically becomes a vigilante after her family is killed. The movie was bad but Blake Lively wasn't if that makes sense. It reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow which I also didn't like. I happened to see Peppermint a week before this and its practically the same premise but in the US and Jennifer Garner did it way better.

I went today to see The Photograph. I liked it but didn’t love it. I thought it was a good story but the way it was told made it hard to get emotionally invested.
Last night I watched Brittany Runs a Marathon. I’d heard mixed reviews on it so it took me a while to get around to watching it. But all in all I enjoyed it.

A few people I know who have seem The Photograph said the movie would have been better served had it concentrated more on the mom's story, but I'm still willing to give it a shot.

I just checked this out from my library so will be watching it soon. Thanks for the heads up on the sad business. I should know that already but hadn't been thinking about it much in advance.
I just watched Hustlers. Not sure what to say about it except that Jennifer Lopez sure has an amazing body for her age!

I don't think I could watch it again - way too sad! But it was good and Renee certainly deserved her Oscar for the performance.

WE watched Jojo Rabbit last night. I didn't know what to expect going in. I worried that the seriousness of the material would be disrespected but it wasn't. There were moments that were absurd and moments of horror. A very good film, much deeper than I thought it would be.That kid was excellent.

Watched Widows last night, and it was pretty decent. Viola was excellent as usual. I've been watching Daniel Kayuula's career since Black Mirror and I'm always amazed at how he disappears in his roles; he was downright menacing here. I was also pleasantly surprised to hear new Sade music as the ending song.
