I am feeling so bad for all of the people whose livelihoods depend on movie theaters!

Ohhhhh FannyMare, wasn't that an INTENSE series. The acting was phenomenal ESP Darren Criss. He received an EMMY and a GOLDEN GLOBE for his outstanding performance in GV.

I'm now binging the Star Wars series. I finally watched the final episode and am now starting with episode 1. I keep falling asleep (I think it is the background music) so I'm only halfway through episode 2. I will carry on!

"The Upside" with Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston, and Nicole Kidman. It's based on a true story; we loved it!

The Star Wars films. When you watch them in 1-9 order you notice that there are so many repeats of action and very stale dialogue - lots of repeating. C-3P0 is the only one who has interesting words to say. And the use of round silos as scenes of fights to the death with lots of emotion (father/son) in three of the films - I swear you don't notice these things unless viewing back to back.
The alien creature makeup holds up as amazing after all these years, but I wish the scripts were deeper in language.

Watched a documentary on Alexander McQueen and it really made me want to cry; so much of the beauty in his work came from pure angst in his life. I really wish that I was able to see his retrospective at The Met.

A Walk to Remember (for the first time..thought it was predictable and cheesy in the beginning...then it got a little better...made me cry a little)

I watched Steve Jobs today. It was OK, but didn't seem to cover anything I didn't already know.
He was such a public person to begin with, and after his death even more information was written about him that any movie about him was a little redundant. I did think that Michael Fassbender did a good job portraying Steve Jobs.

That is one of my all time favors movies Miss Scarlet! You’re right that it’s not highly revealing. But I love the way they told the story. I love how distinct the three acts were in style, music, etc. And for a biography, I love the comment made by the real life Andy Hertsfeld about it - virtually none of that happened and it’s all true. I became really against “body of work” Oscars after that because Fassbender SO deserved the Oscar for that one!

Songs we all knew but fit the mood & happenings so well. When I notice things like that it must be good.

On SHO, Waves. A slowly moving, but interesting drama about an affluent Black family. But great music and some amazing photography! I found myself watching through the ending credits till the end because I was mesmerized by the colors on the screen. On HBO, Unstoppable. Exciting 'runaway train' thriller with Denzel and Chris Pine. Edge of the seat drama!!

Emotional and painful at times. And yes the music and photography was amazing. I especially loved Emily and Luke's relationship. And then visiting Luke's Dad.....oh man I was crying.

On HBO, Unstoppable. Exciting 'runaway train' thriller with Denzel and Chris Pine. Edge of the seat drama!! My nephew learned the word S!*t from Denzel in that movie when he was about 3! Oh what a lesson for my sister not to let him watch a movie with trains just because of the trains! Over the weekend I watched Bryce Dallas Howard's documentary Dads. It was delightful! I expected it to be a lot of celebrity dads talking about fatherhood. To my pleasant surprise most of it was about non-celebrity men and I really enjoyed it.

Light of My Life - quite possibly the most boring apocalypse movie I've ever watched. Bonus: two hours of Casey Affleck droning on and on. And on. Don't bother with this one.
Jojo Rabbit, however, was quite good. I didn't know what to think when it first started, but this is one of the best movies I've watched this year.

The alien creature makeup holds up as amazing after all these years, but I wish the scripts were deeper in language. One of my aunt's oldest friends was one of George Lucas' longtime assistants (she and the two others all retired with him) and even she admitted - and I think he did too - that he was the king of wooden dialogue. After he reissued the original movies and kept editing and changing, I asked her to tell him to stop! Apparently, he was a pretty great boss, although he did like to tease her a bit. She's a vegetarian and avid birdwatcher. He would buy every one of his employees a Willie Bird (free-range turkey - very Sonoma County) at Thanksgiving every year. He made her order them all and then hand them out to everyone when they arrived!
For me, there are only 3 SW movies. The rest are "meh" for me. They don't matter to me.
I just did a chronological watch of all of the Marvel movies (except for The Incredible Hulk and the Spiderman movies) and then went back to watch the individual character movies in order - ie. all the Thor movies, all the Captain America movies, etc. Trying to get my money out of the Disney+ subscription!

I watched a movie on HBO called Animal about a guy who tried to do whatever he could to seek a kidney transplant. It definitely had my attention.

Ever since Portlandia made Portland Weird a thing, it's gotten stranger and stranger. Remember that Grimm was filmed there, so who knows what lurks behind the faces and masks...
Besides, Kindergarten Cop takes place on the Oregon coast for the most part...anyway

A charming film just began streaming on Amazon Prime called Made in Italy. It stars Liam Neeson and his real life son Michael Richardson, playing father and estranged son. The Tuscan countryside is the setting. I rarely rent movies since we pay enough for cable and the Prime membership, but I really wanted to see this one and it was only $5.99. Imagine my surprise and delight when my email of the rental purchase showed a zero balance as I had promotional credits!

Yesterday..( finally) A charming romcom with a twist. Love the twist. Original, fresh, quirky yet likeable characters. We watched the deleted scenes and alternate ending; as well, extra songs performed by Himesh Patel...it's amazing, just how many songs the Beatles wrote. I enjoyed Yesterday. And the music!

I watched High Note last night. It was ok but not great. If I hadn’t paid to rent it I may not have finished it. Dakota Johnson lacks the charisma to carry a movie. I want to like her but she makes it so hard.
