Watched Dirty Pretty Things again with a young Chiwetel Ejiofor, Audrey Tautou, and Sophie Okenedo. Very intense drama dealing with the undocumented working in London and the ways people in different immigrant communities in big cities look out for each other, as well as the despicable ways people will take advantage of them. This movie was my first exposure to Chiwetel and he is great as the former doctor turned taxi driver/night porter/phone operator in a swank hotel.

Sometimes we just search around Netflix on Amazon Prime Video for something to watch. Most of what we choose is at least a few years ago.
Last night, we found "The Railway Man" starring Colin Firth. It's a true story of overcoming. Worth the time.

I discovered by accident (it was an ad) one of my all time favorites, The Witchhunter, on Tubi - not one of my subscriptions. It was free and I saw other interesting free movies, but all with a short shelf life,

I went to the theater today to see Together, and thought it was fantastic. It’s a very honest look at a couple going through tough times during the pandemic, so it’s certainly not a light escape movie. But it was very well done.

I had one of those eye appts today where I had to have my pupils dilated. And then to walk out into the California sun. Eeek. Even with my dark ray bans it was bad. Later on in the day, I decided to lay down for a bit and found REAR WINDOW on SHOWTIME. OMG, I love it. It's been FOREVER since I have seen that movie. My ALL TIME FAV Jimmy Stewart and the absolutely beautiful Grace Kelly!!!

We looked around Netflix for something that wasn't heavy, depressing, or preachy.
"Chef" starring Jon Favreau was a great find.

Love "Chef". There is also a series where he and Roi Choi visit restaurant kitchens and cook with the resident chefs...they have so much fun. Roi Choi is who taught Jon Favreau to cook for the movie.

I went today to see Respect. I thought it was a very good movie. Jennifer Hudson was exactly the right person to play her! That said, hearing Jennifer sing Arethas songs makes you appreciate even more what a super human singer Aretha Franklin was. Jennifer Hudson is an amazing singer and even she couldn’t quite make it sound like Aretha.

It also features the most beautiful grilled cheese sandwich ever put on film. I always crave one when I’ve watched that movie. I saw it in the theater and by the end of the movie, I was STARVING! Luckily, my friend knew where there was a Cuban restaurant nearby, so I could get a Cubano sandwich!

One slice each of American, swiss, provolone and cheddar. Mine are just as stringy and luscious as those in the movie.

David Tennant is an incredible actor, he plays this psychopath to a T! I watched the real serial killer, being interviewed on you tube.

It's not a movie, but a string of documentaries on 9/11 from Hulu and another on Netflix. I'm on the third episode of the Hulu one and the second episode of the one on Netflix.

The movie 'Worth' on Netflix is also about 9/11. We are going to watch it tomorrow, Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci are in it.

We watched Agatha Christie's "CROOKED HOUSE" last night.
A Scotland Yard murder mystery. It's a film from 2017 and very much like Knives Out.
We enjoyed it. Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson and Christina Hendricks.

We watched the new version of "Cinderella" on Amazon. I liked it a lot. But if the guy playing the Prince can't dance, fancy camera work won't cover that up.

I've been avoiding Cinderella because of the snarky reviews by critics - plus the Corden stunt dancing on the freeway - but, I guess it can be a watch.

Saw an old favorite on HBO and decided to rewatch Deep Cover with a young Lawrence Fisburne, Jeff Goldblum, Clarence Williams III and other assorted people in a modern-day crime noir. Fisburne plays a cop with an unfortunate past who is recruited by the State's Department to go "deep cover" (ie: go undercover for years) to get info/bust a crime cartel moving large amounts of coke into the country. Jeff Goldblum is an attorney that is tiring of his side-job as the drug middle-man and is looking for a way to bankroll his synthetic drug project. It's an intense watch but there's enough true characters in this movie that gives some comedic relief but it's more in "whistling past the graveyard" humor style. I definitely rec this if you like film noir.

We went way back to 1993 and watched In The Line of Fire with Clint Eastwood.
As I was looking around on Showtime last night saw this movie with a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes we decided to watch it.
As usual a very good CE movie with tons of action and a very troubled John Malkovich.

Assigning a score to "Blood Work" (2002), which we watched last night.
1 - We love Clint Eastwood. 2 - We love movies based on characters from Michael Connelly books.
In this case, 1 + 2 = 0. It was dreadful.
