Christmas Chronicles on Netflix. I laugh until I cry every time I watch it.

Another funny one on Netflix: Red Notice. It's gotten not-good reviews from most critics, but sometimes a movie should just be entertaining (especially these days). We laughed our heads off.
I love little "Easter eggs" and hidden gems in a movie. This one references Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park . . . and even has one of the characters watching an actual clip from Great British Bake-Off while eating a pastry.
I'll probably watch this one again to catch more of the fun references. "The Rock" doesn't take himself seriously in his movies - and neither should we!!!

All three of the main actors were really good.

We watched Candyman which turned out to be more of a sequel than a remake. Started really promising and then turned into the "same old, same old". I was disappointed though did lead to a great discussion between my husband and I about the various neighborhoods in Chicago (he works downtown) and the regentrification that is going on. I drove by Cabrini Green before it came down.

Burton & Taylor starring Helena Bonham Carter & Dominic West in the title roles. I think it was on Amazon Prime, although I'm not really sure, I found it to be quite boring & draggy, although the two leads did an excellent job of portraying Burton & Taylor. I didn't have any trouble seeing them in the roles. The storyline & script on the other hand, weren't good.

I watched Aquaman last night and enjoyed it, mostly for Jason Momoa and the special effects. This is a beautiful movie that I regret not seeing on the big screen.

Movies I saw over the weekend:
Incident in a Ghostland (better than I thought it would be...but very disturbing) Mercy Black (total waste of my time) Raw (French movie with subtitles...started out good...then fell flat. Not sure how it scored a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes)
All can be found on Netflix

Went to see House Of Gucci. All the performances were great, but you gotta put Gaga at the top. Strange family, strange story, but I would presume a mostly true story.

Watched Home Sweet Home Alone. I'm not sure what service it was on. Maybe Netflix. I'm never all that sure. They just come up on my selections & I click on them. It was just another Home Alone movie, but with a different kid, different family, different "bad guys". Storyline was just like the first Home Alone movie with a few set up changes. The kid was likable & resourceful enough, but he was no Kevin McAlister. Not even close.
My problem with it was mainly that the "bad guys" weren't really bad guys at all. Just a couple who wanted their valuable possession back. It was all just a huge misunderstanding with both the couple & the kid, which could have been avoided completely if the couple had just knocked on the door & explained the situation. It was painful seeing them get beat up for no reason.
Anyhow, I suppose it was borderline OK for mindless entertainment. It did have a happy ending. I'd definitely give it a thumbs down for fun & value. You won't miss anything by not watching it.

I went to see Don't Look Up yesterday. It is a Netflix movie that is running in theaters, but if it isn't already, it will soon be on Netflix. It is about a group of astronomers who discover a comet headed straight for earth & their attempts to get the president to take the issue seriously. It is really relevant to what we are now experiencing in the country and the science debates.
The movie stars Meryle Streep, Jennifer Lawrence. Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Rob Morgan & Ariana Grande among many others.
I recommend it.

That has to be one of the oddest casts I've ever seen. It's not available to watch on Netflix quite yet, but I added it to my list...

I went to see Nightmare Alley yesterday. I don't know what I was expecting, but I don't think I was expecting to see 1940's type film noir. It was a good movie & Cate Blanchett certainly looked a lot like Lauren Bacall back in the day. or maybe Veronica Lake with the peek a boo hairdo she was so famous for. There are twists & turns all along the way.

Watched Natural Born Killers last night and think the theme about turning murderers into cult figures and celebrities is still relevant today, especially with social media.

Home Alone for the 1000th time this Christmas. It's been half of what Freeform has been playing for the 25 Days of Christmas lol. The other half is the Santa Clause trilogy.

Being the Ricardos
It's FREE on Amazon Prime for subscribers! They usually charge for new first run films, so this was a pleasant surprise. Very good. I really enjoyed it & felt Nicole Kidman & Javier Bardem really captured Lucy & Desi. I was seeing Lucy & Desi while watching it rather than Nicole & Javier. I did have a problem with the way the timeline kept jumping around with the current & past events. I wasn't always sure when a particular scene or exchange was taking place. The characters usually looked exactly the same. I grew up with I Love Lucy & remembered the episodes they referred to. That was a fun perk seeing what went on behind the scenes during the making of those episodes.. All in all, I'd give it a definite Thumbs Up. Maybe a couple of them.

The Lighthouse …weird, interesting and a tad confusing but decent? I loved the Lighthouse. The scene where Willen Dafoe is getting buried alive and still talking **** is a Masterclass in Acting!
We actually went to the theater yesterday to see Matrix: Resurrection and it was glorious! We were in the balcony at the 21+ show (where the seats recline and everything is naturally socially distant) and everyone wore their masks and was careful to space out the seating even more. Even so, it was a good crowd by midafternoon standards; I wonder what the main floor looked like. But seriously, see it. It's on HBOMax this month for those who don't wish to go out.

The eyes of Tammy Faye. I was not expecting much, but was captivated from start to finish. Jessica Chastain plays Tammy Faye, and she really was excellent, just excellent. I'm sure she will be up for an award.

And yes, it really was a good comment on society and this country as we are right now, hitting on both sides. And what an interesting cast!
