I went to see Don't Look Up yesterday. It is a Netflix movie that is running in theaters, but if it isn't already, it will soon be on Netflix. It is about a group of astronomers who discover a comet headed straight for earth & their attempts to get the president to take the issue seriously. It is really relevant to what we are now experiencing in the country and the science debates. The movie stars Meryle Streep, Jennifer Lawrence. Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Rob Morgan & Ariana Grande among many others. I recommend it. That has to be one of the oddest casts I've ever seen. It's not available to watch on Netflix quite yet, but I added it to my list... You won't be sorry.

I went to see Licorice Pizza today. I have to say I think it was the most “normal” PT Anderson movie I’ve seen. It was a little slow in a part or two, but all in all was very entertaining and a great portrait of the era.

I went to see The Kingsman. I really like those movies & this one goes back to the very beginning to tell about how the unit came to be.

I still have one of their record crates in my closet - I store my jeans in it! Just that name evokes SO much nostalgia! Plus, I love Paul Thomas Anderson.

Watched the new Spiderman on Saturday. It was great. Also the first movie I've seen in a theater since It Chapter 2.

Watched Encanto last night and loved it. You know, once my sons reached a certain age, I stopped watching Disney and Pixar movies, even though I know they aren't only for little kids. Plus, there is a whole slew of the more 'girly' type movies that I never even saw when they were little as they tended not to want to watch them. One of my classmates from grammar school through high school ventured out to Los Angeles around 1980. He was a talented musician and had an advanced music degree. He's won numerous Emmy awards for sound re-recording and has worked on many, many of the Disney movies, including Encanto. Encanto just won the Golden Globe award for best animated feature film. I'm sure it will be up for Oscar consideration in many categories. After all these years it's such a thrill to hear my former classmate's name during awards ceremonies. I really should start watching Disney films, again.

Went to see House Of Gucci. All the performances were great, but you gotta put Gaga at the top. Strange family, strange story, but I would presume a mostly true story. We went to see it today on a dreary cloudy day. Totally agree with you razorbacker ....excellent movie. I thought Gaga and Jared Leto were both outstanding. Gaga playing the lead and Jared playing the rather odd son of Al Pacino. What a totally messed up family but I am glad I did not read any spoilers. I had no clue about the ending.

With all the hullabaloo over Spiderman, I decided to avoid the crowds & I waited until this week to see the movie. I always go to a matinee & since the kids were pretty much back in school, that gave me the entire theater to myself. I really enjoyed the show. I liked it so much I thought I was seeing 2, no 3,different Spidermen. That couldn't be true could it?

Two of them couldn't attend the premiere so as to keep the surprise. I can't wait to see it once it is available for sale or rent as it probably won't show up on Disney+. I have a CD of the first on of this trilogy (Homecoming) and purchased streaming (movies anywhere) for Far From Home. We'll see haw fast prices come down...like that is going to happen.

A confession. ( mini series from the library)
Great cast, it's a true story.
Martin Freeman stars in BAFTA-nominated true story of Detective Superintendent Stephen Fulcher, who heroically risks his good name to track down the culprit responsible for the disappearance of 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan. Martin Freeman is so underrated, he was excellent as DS Fulcher Imelda Staunton was terrific, as was Sobhani Finneran It's an emotional rollercoaster, but well worth watching.
I wish we had britbox, , there's so much we like on there..

I had mixed feelings on The Lost Daughter. It took me two tries to get through it and I thought it was very slow moving as I was watching it. But, I've thought about it several times since I saw it, so I guess that's a sign of something?
I watched the Tender Bar over the weekend and I liked it a lot more than I expected to. I generally am not a fan of George Clooney directed movies and don't care for Ben Affleck. But I had heard so many good things about it I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did.

NOBODY!!Wow, what a movie. Such an interesting s/l and soooooo much action!!! www.imdb.com/title/tt7888964/View it on HBO or HBOMAX StorylineEmmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, The Post, Nebraska) stars as Hutch Mansell, an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life's indignities on the chin and never pushing back.
When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence.
His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe, The Shack), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen, Wonder Woman), seems to pull only further away.
The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch's long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills.
In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (famed Russian actor Aleksey Serebryakov, Amazon's McMafia)-and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.

But I did love it and it was good seeing Bob O as its been too long since I have seen him. I read he had a heart attack last Spring while filming "Better Call Sal". But the article also said he was back on the "BCS" set within two months.

Acting was awesome. This is essentially number 1 as it tells of the history and beginnings of the story of THE KINGS MAN movies!!!

Nobody - wow, this was good! Not a role I'd expect for Bob Odenkirk, but he killed it. Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - tons of action like the above movie, but add in a whole lot of cussing. Fun movie.

I finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, it took me all this time to finally watch it. As the anti-superhero movie person on this board, I can honestly say I loved it. Sure it had all the violence & destruction I dislike about this genre, and way too many & too long action sequences, but it also had all the things I watch a movie for: Great storyline. Great and likeable characters & character development. Even the "bad guys" were interesting. Great music. I mean GREAT music. Good ending. And, most of all, humor & fun.
Now planning to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2, or whatever it's called. I just hope it's on Disney +.

THE DRY
"Federal Agent Aaron Falk (ERIC BANA) returns to his home town after an absence of over twenty years to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, Luke,
who allegedly killed his wife and child before taking his own life - a victim of the madness that has ravaged this community after more than a decade of drought.
When Falk reluctantly agrees to stay and investigate the crime, he opens up an old wound - the death of 17- year-old Ellie Deacon.
Falk begins to suspect these two crimes, separated by decades, are connected.
As he struggles to prove not only Luke's innocence but also his own, Falk finds himself pitted against the prejudice towards him and and pent-up rage of a terrified community."
Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is on Showtime.

Just watched Don't Look Up this evening on Netflix. First off, I've never been a fan of dark comedy, and this is definitely it.
It's obviously a vanity project by someone obsessed by climate change. I would suspect the all star cast were also like minded. I guess it could also be applied to the COVID deniers & science deniers. It showed how both Government officials & the public turn a blind eye to anything they don't want to see, nomatter the consequences. I didn't find it enjoyable. I found it depressing.
I can't say I'd honestly recommend it, but I had nothing else to do tonight, so it was something to watch. I didn't turn it off, so I guess that's something. If you do like that kind of thing & dark comedies, maybe you'd enjoy it more than I did.

As someone who has never read any Agatha Christie books nor watched any movies based on her works, I very much wanted to watch Murder On The Orient Express a few years back, but I ended up skipping it because during casual conversation, a friend completely spoiled the final act for me despite me having told him one minute earlier that I was unfamiliar with the story. Yeah...
So I just came home from watching Death On The Nile. A good story, good acting, good setting, an intriguing mystery, and while I didn't catch on to all the clues, I did manage to deduce whodunnit and why, and it felt really good. I really enjoyed this movie and I'd definitely watch it again.

My daughter told me I have to see Murder on the Orient Express first. I don't think she understands they are not continuations, just new stories with Poirot. I do want to see that one as well, though. Maybe I'll watch it and do Death next weekend.
