I second Summer of Soul. It's absolutely fabulous, and Questlove deserved that Oscar.

We also saw it the weekend it came out. Hysterical. And yes, JJ what a COMPLETE JERK. I bet to this day JJ is still regretting his actions. In the last few weeks we have seen The Lost City. Batman.....really dark but really good. #DC Moribus.....loved it. #Marvel

I haven't heard good reviews from my friends who saw Morbius. I might wait until it comes out on blu-ray and then catch it.

Just got back from seeing Everything Everywhere All at Once and I absolutely loved it. If you're going to see it please do not spoil yourself because the payoff is seeing all the crazy play off in real time. If you're on the fence about it GO.

Busy movie weekend, Friday we saw the latest Spiderman. We really enjoyed it. The other spidermen looked so much older of course. It was just a lot of fun.
Last night we watched Death on the Nile. Loved it. Visually stunning and we got French and Saunders! I was not familiar with the story so it was all a big surprise for me.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Absolutely AMAZING. A little on the "dark" side but FABULOUS just the same. Elizabeth Olsen was outstanding as Wanda and as Scarlett Witch. Outstanding. The whole cast was AWESOME. I must see if you love MARVEL.

We prefer light movies, but started to watch The Batman last night. It was so physically dark we could hardly see anything.
Since when does Bruce Wayne look like the love child of Cedric Diggory and Edward Scissorhands?

I admit that I need to watch The Batman again because I fell asleep during the middle of it, but what I watched I liked. I really wish it was better lit and the sound was better because after a certain point I switched on subtitles to understand what they were saying. I liked the Film Noir detective approach they took and SOME of the darkness but there's a way to film dark noirish movies with having the audience squint their eyes to see things; I'm thinking of the movie Dark City, The Battle of the Blackwater in Game of Thrones, Helm's Deep scene in LOTR, etc.

Watched Old and it was a steaming hot a** mess of a movie in the way only Night Shyamalan's movies can be. It went from slightly ho-hum to "what's going on" to "goodness!" really quickly, along with stilted dialogue that was unintentionally funny. It got so ridiculous that every time someone died I laughed because it was so messy. I do have to admit I didn't see the twist coming, which was nice. Overall, I would rate this as "so bad it comes around full circle to entertaining."

I must be the only one who enjoys his movies. But yeah, I do agree that some of the acting/direction was off in Old. Too much screeching on that beach. Overall I enjoyed the plot (and twist at the end), but the execution was somewhat lacking.

The new Top Gun was filmed where I grew up. This is like old home week. Check out James Corden getting some lessons from Tom Cruise & my old stomping grounds from the air. www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1iZtBM23bY

Rubin Hurricane Carter.
It made me sad and angry, and it made me smile. Denzel Washington was great( as usual)

Overall I enjoyed the plot (and twist at the end), but the execution was somewhat lacking. I enjoy his movies too, precisely because he's so messy and his movies tend to be unintentionally funny. I still laugh at that old lady in "The Happening" who said "I see you eying mah lemon drank" and Mark Walburg saying "Oh no, no!" in a complete monotone in response.

Went to see Dr Strange: Multiverse of Madness and enjoyed it, but expected....more madness? I liked the special effects and felt extremely bad for Wanda but expected more psychological terror like Jacob's Ladder.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore dropped on HBOMAX today. I hadn't seen it in the movies, but quickly sat down to watch it this morning with the - necessary for me - closed captioning. As many of you know, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan (and I have a tattoo to prove it). I also LOVE Jude Law. I didn't like this movie at all. In fact, Mr. AZC had to wake me up a couple of times. I just got totally lost. The last 10 minutes or so were okay . . . especially when Aberforth admitted to "Credence" that he was his father and, therefore, a Dumbledore (his real name is apparently Aurelius Dumbledore). When Aurelius asked Aberforth if he ever thought of him (his illegitimate son), Aberforth responded "Always." Now, here's my theory . . . especially after that scene. {Spoiler} Aurelius marries a woman whose last name is "Prince." They have a daughter whom they name Eileen Prince Dumbledore. When she grows up and goes to Hogwarts, she chooses to use her mother's maiden name, as her last name would identify her as a relative of the headmaster, and she wants to be accepted by others on her own merit.
Eileen is happy at Hogwarts, even serving as captain of the Gobstones team, for which she had her name inscribed on a trophy. (See the sixth book in the series if you don't remember). After graduation she marries a muggle named Tobias Snape, and they have a son named Severus. We learn that he is also known as "The Half-Blood Prince."
So that confirms for me that Severus was ALWAYS on Dumbledore's side in the battle against Voldemort, even to the point to agreeing to Dumbledore's request to kill him.
And we all remember that when "Uncle Albus" asked if he still loved Lily Evans (Harry Potter's late mother), what did Severus respond? "Always."
Game, set, match.

We went this afternoon, whoa it was great! It's just incredible technical wizardry and masterful flying at play. I liked it better than the first Top Gun

I liked it a lot and really, really glad they retconned the whole "Creedence is a Dumbledore" thing in a way that made sense because a LOT of people were pissed off about that. Liked it less than "Fantastic Beasts," liked it more than the second one. Mads would have chemistry with a lightpole and you really got the sense that he and Dumbledore were lovers in the past but on opposite sides now; loved the scene where they touched each others chests during a fight and the look they gave each other full of longing and regret was very well done. Best of all, the ending could either be used as a series finale or a continuation.

We watched horror movie "X". A group of adult film stars go to make a movie on an elderly couple's farm in the 1970s. My husband thought it was weird, I liked it.
