Texas are a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow. They were founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone and Sharleen Spiteri on lead vocals. They took their name from the 1984 Wim Wenders movie Paris, Texas. As of 2017, their worldwide sales were 40 million records and they have had thirteen top-ten singles on the UK singles chart and three number-one albums and eight UK top-ten albums on the UK albums chart. During their career they have released 10 studio albums, 1 live album, 3 compilation albums and 43 singles, they released their latest album in 2021. This song comes from The Conversation. It was their 8th album & it was released in 2013. The album landed in the top 10 in multiple countries around the world but did not make a dent here in the states. It has also been certified as a platinum seller in France & Gold in the UK. It had been 8 years since the release of their previous album, but a lot of the delay had to do with bandmember Ally McErlaine being hospitalized after he collapsed with a brain aneurysm at the age of 40 in 2009. He survived his collapse - which kills in 80% of cases - Texas reunited for the first time since 2005. Detroit City by Texas www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQVrVpVasQE

Eliza Neals is blues rock vocalist from Detroit. She started out singing and performing with her sisters and eventually was told, “you have to get a degree to live under this roof.” So, she chose Opera studies and graduated from Detroit’s Wayne State University (WSU) with a Bachelor of Arts degree, minor in piano. Touring with WSU concert chorale performing in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and UK’s Glastonbury as a Mezzo Soprano Opera singer was thrilling but not enough for Eliza Neals, eventually the blues chose Eliza. You never know where your break might come from: Eliza's met her mentor & collaborator legendary Motown writer Barrett Strong happened by chance. In the 90's Strong strolled into a Detroit area health food store and heard a powerful, soulful voice coming from the back of the store. The talented culprit was singer/songwriter Eliza belting it out for the sheer joy of it. Impressed, Strong signed the young chanteuse to his independent label Blarritt Records. The blues has been good for her, she has had the opportunity to open for many great artists including Barrett Strong, George Clinton, The Four Tops, Kenny Olson, Tony Joe White, Lance Lopez, Mike Zito, Tommy Castro, Walter Trout, Poppa Chubby, Albert Castiglia, Micki Free, Victor Wainwright, King Solomon Hicks, Peter Keys and Blues Foundation HOF bluesman Joe Louis Walker. Original compositions have garnered Eliza a 2018 Detroit Black Music Award for “Blues Artist of the Year.” and FIVE Detroit Music Awards. A total of seventeen nominations in the “Independent Blues Awards” along with “Get Ready To Rock UK’s” glowing Best Artists awards in five categories. This song comes from Breaking and Entering, the album was released in 2015. The album won her a lot of recognition on the various blues charts including #6 Blues-Rock Radio Charts 2015, Outstanding Blues Recording 2016” Detroit Music Awards, Top 5 Amazon Blues-Rock Albums for 17 weeks & Living Blues Chart #24 April 2015. Prince was widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation, he produced his albums himself, & often played most or all instruments on his records. He sold over 150 million records worldwide ranking him among the best-selling artists of all time. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. It is incredible that as we grow older, the time passes quicker. As I type this, he has already been gone 6 years for crying out loud. But, in the music business, death does not stop progress. On August 21, 2016, he was posthumously inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame & honored with a Doctor of Humane Letters by the University of Minnesota. He was inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in 2022. 1999 was his 5th studio album it was released in 1982. It became his first album to be recorded with his band the Revolution. It was his 1st top 10 album, peaking at number 9. The album included hit singles "1999", a protest against nuclear proliferation, it got to #12, "Delirious" reached #8, while "Little Red Corvette" peaked at number 6, becoming his highest charting US single at the time. "International Lover" was also nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 26th Grammy Awards, which was Prince's first Grammy Award nomination. He lost out to Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. Following his death in 2016, the album re-entered the Billboard 200 and peaked at number seven, besting its original performance on the chart thirty-three years earlier. In 2008, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. All the Critics Love U in New York by Prince www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ5msDv_X4o

Wilson Phillips is a pop group formed in Los Angeles in 1989. The group consists of Carnie and Wendy Wilson, the daughters of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, and Chynna Phillips, the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas. They grew up together in Southern California in the 1970s and 1980s. They have been nominated for multiple awards, but have not yet broken though for a win. This song comes from their 2nd album, Shadows and Light, it came out in 1992. The album was deeply personal and adopted a more serious tone, with tracks exploring issues such as child abuse ("Where Are You") and their estrangement from their fathers ("Flesh and Blood", "All the Way From New York"). The album got to #4 & has been certified Platinum. All the girls were song writers. Chyna wrote this one. All The Way From New York by Wilson Phillips www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcquXjOINXA

Here is something that usually doesn’t happen. Evidently there are two different bands currently making music under the name of The Spikedrivers. And there was a 3rd band with this name that was around in the 60's they were a psychedelic rock band from Chicago. This particular set of musicians seems to be of the international variety. Ben Tyzack: guitar, vocals & harmonica was born in London but raised in the deep south of the United States, Constance Redgrave: bass guitar, vocals & percussion was born in Los Angeles of Native American roots & Maurice Mcelroy : drums, vocals & percussion was born in Belfast, he came to London during the 60's blues and soul boom. It looks like they are based in London. They have released 7 albums so far. This song comes from their 2nd album. It was called Blue Trash & it came out in 2003. They have a great laid back sound. George Thorogood is a musician, singer and songwriter from Wilmington, Delaware. In 1973, he formed the Delaware Destroyers, with high school friend and drummer Jeff Simon, he is still with the band. Here is something I reckon you won’t see too often: During the late 1970s, George and his band were based in Boston. He was friends with Jimmy Thackery of the Washington, D.C.-based blues band, The Nighthawks. While touring in the 1970s, the Destroyers and the Nighthawks were playing shows in Georgetown at venues across the street from each other. The Destroyers were at the Cellar Door and the Nighthawks at Desperados. At midnight, while both bands played Elmore James's "Madison Blues" in the same key, Thorogood and Thackery left their clubs, met in the middle of M Street, exchanged guitar patch cords and went on to play with the opposite band in the other club. During their career they have released 15 studio albums, 5 live albums & 5 compilations. This song comes from their 8th studio album, it was called Boogie People & it was released in 1991. The album peaked at #77 on the Billboard 200. Oklahoma Sweetheart by George Thorogood & The Destroyers www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1yRVcvStGw

Jan and Dean was a rock duo consisting of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence. In the early 1960s, they were pioneers of the California Sound and vocal surf music styles popularized by the Beach Boys. Their hit single Surf City was the 1st #1 hit single related to surfing. Dead Man’s Curve was a #8 hit & was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2008, but it would also be a premonition of sorts. On April 12, 1966, Jan received severe head injuries in an automobile accident on Whittier Drive, just a short distance from Dead Man's Curve in Beverly Hills, California, two years after the song had become a hit. He was on his way to a business meeting when he crashed his Corvette into a parked truck on Whittier Drive, near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard, in Beverly Hills. He was in a coma for more than two months; he awoke on the morning of June 16. Jan passed away on March 26, 2004, after he suffered a seizure eight days before his 63rd birthday. Dean had talents beyond singing. In 1972, he won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover for the psychedelic rock band Pollution's first eponymous 1971 album, and was nominated three other times in the same category for albums of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. In 2013, his design contribution of the Surf City Allstars' In Concert CD was named a Silver Award of Distinction at the Communicator Awards competition. Dean is still alive, he is now 82. During their career they released 16 studio albums, 2 Live albums & & they have been a part of 7 compilations. This song comes from the 1st compilation, it was called Jan & Deans Golden Hits & it came out in 1962. The song was released as a single as well, landing at #69 in 1962. It is almost an understatement to say Merle Haggard led a troubled life in his early years. In 1946 his father died of a brain hemorrhage. Nine year-old Merle was deeply affected by the loss, and it remained a pivotal event to him for the rest of his life. To support the family, his mother took a job as a bookkeeper. Older brother Lowell gave his guitar to Merle when Merle was 12. Merle learned to play it on his own, with the records he had at home, influenced by Bob Wills, Lefty Frizzell, and Hank Williams. While his mother was out working during the day he started getting into trouble. She sent him to a juvenile detention center for a weekend to try and correct him, but his behavior did not improve. If anything, he became worse. Evidently, Mama Tried! By the age of 13, He was stealing and writing bad checks. In 1950 he was caught shoplifting and sent to a juvenile detention center. In 1951 he returned to Bakersfield, where he was again arrested for truancy and petty larceny and sent to a juvenile detention center. After another escape, he was sent to the Preston School of Industry, a high-security installation. He was released 15 months later but was sent back after beating a local boy during a burglary attempt. in 1957 he tried to rob a Bakersfield roadhouse, was caught and arrested. Convicted, he was sent to the Bakersfield Jail. After an escape attempt he was transferred to San Quentin Prison on February 21, 1958. While at San Quentin, he started a gambling and brewing racket with his cellmate. After he was caught drunk, he was sent for a week to solitary confinement where he encountered Caryl Chessman, an author and death-row inmate. It just goes to show that everyone can turn their life around if they desire. On the morning of April 6, 2016, his 79th birthday, he died of complications from pneumonia at his home in Palo Cedro, Shasta County, California. His list of albums is extensive & it would take going through everyone of them to find out if this song was ever included, but it doesn’t appear as though it was ever released as a single. Old 97's is an alternative country band from Dallas, formed in 1992.. A few days ago, we heard a song called The El, by Rhett Miller. He is also the lead singer of this band. They were pioneers of the alt-country movement during the mid-to-late 1990s, then they developed more of a power pop style in the 2000s. Rhett Miller has described the band's style as "loud folk". The band's name is in reference to the Wreck of the Old 97. During their career they have released 12 studio albums & 2 extended plays. This song was included on their 10th studio album. It was called Hit By A Train - The Best Of Old 97's & it came out in 2006. It seems to me as though if it is on a “Best Of” album it should have been on a previous album, but that doesn’t seem to have been the case. This song was a huge hit for Marty Robbins who got a 7 week stay at #1 on the Country chart with it back in 1959. Staying true to their alt country roots, these guys turn the song on its head & rock it up. El Paso by Old 97's www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuxbazxj4tk

Today will be a bit of a weather battle in the golden state. Human Nature are an Australian pop vocal group, which formed in 1989, in Sydney, as a quartet featuring Toby Allen, Phil Burton and brothers, Andrew and Mike Tierney. Originally, they were established as a doo-wop group, called the 4 Trax, when the members were still in high school. They got their breaks & help from some pretty big names. Before they ever released their 1st album they opened for Celine Dion on the Australian leg of her Falling Into You Around the World Tour in March 1996. Then they grabbed the attention of Sony label mate, Michael Jackson as they were an opening act for the Australian leg of the HIStory World Tour in November and December 1996. They continued opening for Michael on the European leg through early 1997. They sang at venues numbering over 100,000 people, and at Wembley Stadium for three nights. During their career they have released 13 studio albums with the most recent one coming in 2018 & 22 singles. This song comes from their Walk the Tightrope album. It was their 4th studio album & it was released in 2004. The album & singles charted in their native Australia, but not here in the states. War (originally called Eric Burdon and War) is a funk/rock/soul band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1969. In 1962, Howard E. Scott and Harold Brown formed a group called The Creators in Long Beach. Within a few years, they had added Charles Miller, Morris "B. B." Dickerson, and Lonnie Jordan to the lineup. Lee Oskar and Papa Dee Allen later joined as well. They all shared a love of diverse styles of music, which they had absorbed living in the racially mixed Los Angeles ghettos. The original War was conceived by record producer Jerry Goldstein ("My Boyfriend's Back", "Hang on Sloopy", "I Want Candy") and singer Eric Burdon (ex-lead singer of the Animals). In 1969, Goldstein saw musicians who would eventually become War playing at the Rag Doll in North Hollywood, backing Deacon Jones, and he was attracted to the band's sound. Lonnie Jordan claimed that the band's goal was to spread a message of brotherhood and harmony, using instruments and voices to speak out against racism, hunger, gangs, crimes, and turf wars, and promote hope and the spirit of brotherhood. Eric Burdon and War began playing live shows to audiences throughout Southern California before entering into the studio to record their debut album Eric Burdon Declares "War". The album's best known track, "Spill the Wine", was a hit and launched the band's career. Eric Burdon departed in 1971 but the band continued on to bigger success. During their career they have released 18 studio albums, 3 live albums, 7 compilation albums, and 60 singles. This song comes from their Platinum Jazz collection. It was a double album, & their 9th studio album. It released on Blue Note Records in 1976. It is also the only record they made for Blue Note, a jazz label, which was then owned and controlled by their current label at the time, United Artists Records. L.A. Barbara Ann "Bobbi" Humphrey is a jazz flautist and singer who plays jazz fusion, funk, and soul-jazz. She was born in Marlin, Texas, and raised in Dallas. Yesterday we heard a cut from the only album War recorded with the Blue Note label. Here is a lady that recorded the first 6 of her albums with the label. In 1971, she was the first female instrumentalist signed to the label. Within weeks of arriving in New York, she was signed by George Butler to Blue Note. She had been playing regularly throughout the city, including joining Herbie Mann on stage in Central Park and an impromptu performance on The Tonight Show. She was asked to join the final band of trumpeter Lee Morgan, performing on his last Blue Note album in 1971. She has also played with Duke Ellington and George Benson. She has recorded 12 albums with the most recent one coming in 1994. She also founded the jazz label Paradise Sounds Records. This song comes from her Blacks & Blues album. It was her 3rd album & it was recorded in 1973. The album became her biggest hit & it helped make her a sensation at Montreux. Lady can play herself some flute. Damn! Sonny Turner was a singer from Fairmont, West Virginia. He was best known for replacing Tony Williams as lead singer of The Platters in 1959. Turner died after a long battle with throat cancer in Los Angeles on January 13, 2022, at the age of 82. Prior to his work with The Platters, he was the lead singer of a local vocal group called The Metrotones. While performing in a local club in Cleveland as the opening act for Redd Foxx, Sonny was approached by local DJ Bill Crane and asked if he would be interested in auditioning for The Platters, as their lead singer as Tony Williams was soon to be leaving the group. He was chosen out of 100 hopeful auditioners to replace Williams in late 1959. Turner, whose friend and mentor was Jackie Wilson, breathed new life into The Platters with three hit singles; "I Love You 1000 Times" in 1966, "With This Ring" in 1967 and "Washed Ashore" in 1968. He also re-recorded many of The Platters hits of the 1950s. He left the group in 1970 to pursue a solo career, and that led him to other opportunities. That is him singing on the soundtracks of feature films, including “The Nutty Professor II” starring Eddie Murphy, “Hearts in Atlantis” starring Anthony Hopkins and “Prince of the City” starring Robert DeNiro. This song was recorded in 1972. I can’t tell if it was ever released as a single, but it never made it to the Hot 100 charts. Chicago Woman by Sonny Turner www.youtube.com/watch?v=70RtWhRagWk

Roomful of Blues is an American blues and swing revival big band formed in Rhode Island in 1967. Over the course of the years, there have been more than 50 musicians that have played in the band. Rich Lataille, alto and tenor saxophone, is the only remaining member from the original line-up. The group plays a blend of swing, rock and roll, jump blues, boogie-woogie and soul. They have earned five Grammy Award nominations and many other accolades, including seven Blues Music Awards (with a victory as Blues Band Of The Year in 2005). The Down Beat International Critics Poll has twice selected Roomful of Blues as Best Blues Band. During their career they have released 20 studio albums as a group & played on countless others. In addition to their recordings, they have often backed musicians like Jimmy Witherspoon, Jimmy McCracklin, Roy Brown, Joe Turner, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson and Earl King — stars of the 1940s and 1950s jump blues scene. Clarence "Frogman" Henry, is a rhythm and blues singer and pianist, born in New Orleans. He is probably best known for his hit "Ain't Got No Home" (1956) it got to #3 on the R&B chart & #20 on the pop chart. But he actually had a higher charting hit with a song called But I Do, in 1961, that one got to #4. His pioneering contribution to the genre has been recognized by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. In April 2007, he was honored for his contributions to Louisiana music with induction into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Perhaps his biggest honor came when he opened eighteen concerts for the Beatles across the US and Canada in 1964. This song goes way back. It was written by Spencer Williams in 1928 and recorded that year by Louis Armstrong. The list of people that have recorded the song goes on & on, but here are some of the more famous: Bing Crosby 1937, The Mills Brothers 1939, Shirley Bassey & Louis Prima both in 1957, Dave Brubeck in 1959, Ray Charles 1960, Miles Davis & Sam Cooke both in 1963, Harry Connick Jr. 1988, Dr. John 1992, & Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in 2017. Strangely enough with all those people listed & all those dates confirmed, the list makers leave off Clarence. Even though the video says it was released in 2001, I can’t confirm when he actually recorded it. The song is also used in the movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Big Maceo Merriweather was a pianist and blues singer. His real name was Major Merriweather & he was born in Newnan, Georgia. He was a self-taught pianist. In the 1920s, he moved to Detroit to begin his music career. He moved to Chicago in 1941, where he made the acquaintance of Tampa Red. Red introduced him to Lester Melrose of RCA and its subsidiary label Bluebird Records, who signed Merriweather to a recording contract. Maceo suffered a stroke in 1946 & died of a heart attack on February 23, 1953, in Chicago. He was just 47. On May 3, 2008, the White Lake Blues Festival took place at the Howmet Playhouse Theater, in Whitehall, Michigan. The event was organized by executive producer Steve Salter, of the nonprofit organization Killer Blues, to raise monies to honor Merriweather's unmarked grave with a headstone. The concert was a success, and a headstone was placed in June 2008. In 2002, he was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Even though this video says the album containing this song was released in 2011, the song itself was one of his 1st recordings which places the recording date sometime in the early 1940’s. Josh is a straight up singin', guitar slingin', songwriting, crowd-pleasing Blues man from Warren Michigan. He is the son of a preacher man and woman There isn’t a lot of independent info on him, so this comes from his own website & may be a bit of a puff piece: “at 35 Josh has achieved incredible success and proves to be one of the most skillful yet animated Blues performers around. An absolute entertainer, Josh manages to keep everyone happy no matter what their age, race, or music taste - Everybody loves him! Having played all over the US and in Europe since 1989, his fan base continues to grow and grow, as do his CD sales. Josh has recorded 9 albums and sold over 100,000 copies through his website motorcityjosh.com and at his shows. Josh is popular for both his award winning - Memphis International Blues Finalist 2003 - foot stomping down-home Blues solo acoustic act, and his electrifying 'Funky Blues You Can't Refuse' 4-piece band. The Detroit native spent 10 years working up a MCJ frenzy in the Motor City area, then moved to Atlanta in 1999 to do the same. Based in Chicago briefly and now back in Detroit - he's at it again, doing what he does best.... making people smile, dance, laugh, and on occasion pee their pants!” Even that info is a bit off as he has just released his 13th album. The members of the band are Motor City Josh - Guitar/Vocals, Johnny Rhoades - Guitar/Vocals,Chris Smith - Bass/Vocals,Todd Glass - Drums This song comes from an album called Blue Collar Bluesman. It was released in 2004. Whether all that info is correct or not, I can tell you one thing, there is an old black blues man living inside this dude. Mott the Hoople are an English rock band formed in Herefordshire, England. Originally known as the Doc Thomas Group, the group changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The whole name change thing will become a habit. They released albums throughout the early 1970s but failed to find commercial success. On the verge of breaking up, the band was encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. He even wrote the song "All the Young Dudes" for them, which became a huge commercial success in 1972. Bowie subsequently produced an album of the same name for them, which continued their success. During their career they released 7 studio albums with the most recent one happening in 1974. They shortened their name to just The Hoople & released 2 more albums, 1 each in 1975 & 76. They changed their name again to The British Lions & released 2 more albums, 1 in 77 & another in 78. This song comes from their album called Wildlife. It was the 3rd release when they were still Mott The Hoople & it came out in 1971. The album hit #44 in the UK, but they had not yet found an audience in the US. The album contained their version of the song Lay Down (Candles in The Wind) which had been a huge hit for the song’s writer Melanie in 1970. The Kinks were an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, north London, in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. The band emerged during the height of British rhythm and blues and Merseybeat, and were briefly part of the British Invasion of the United States until their touring ban in 1965. Their third single "You Really Got Me", became an international hit, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and reaching the Top 10 in the United States. They were ranked 65th on Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list. They have two albums, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society (No. 384), and Something Else by the Kinks (No. 478) on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. They have three songs on the same magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list as updated in September 2021: "Waterloo Sunset" (No. 14), "You Really Got Me" (No. 176), and "Lola" (No. 386). The Kinks were active for over three decades between 1964 and 1996, releasing 24 studio and 4 live albums. This song comes from Muswell Hillbillies. It was their 10th studio album & was released in 1971. The album is named after the Muswell Hill area of North London, where & Dave Davies grew up. The album introduces a number of working class figures and the stresses with which they must contend. It did not sell stalling out at #177 on the US Top 200 albums charts. It included the single 20th Century Man which failed to land in the Hot 100 & crashed out at #106. The song lyrics describe a young woman who leads a monotonous working class life, and imagines in her dreams she is in various Hollywood films, such as Oklahoma! ("But in her dreams she is far away/ In Oklahoma U.S.A./ With Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae"). As the song progresses and she goes on with life she continues to dream of Oklahoma and Hollywood ("She walks to work but she's still in a daze/ She's Rita Hayworth or Doris Day/ And Errol Flynn's gonna take her away/ To Oklahoma U.S.A."). The song opens and closes with the lyrics "All life we work, but work is a bore./ If life's for livin', then what's livin' for? Oklahoma, U.S.A. by The Kinks www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQcf6qRMZMo

The Byrds were a rock band formed in Los Angeles, in 1964. The band underwent multiple lineup changes throughout its existence, with front man Roger McGuinn (known as Jim McGuinn until mid-1967) remaining the sole consistent member. Although their time as one of the most popular groups in the world only lasted for a short period in the mid-1960s, the Byrds are today considered by critics to be among the most influential rock acts of their era. In 1991, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an occasion that saw the five original members performing together for the last time. Gene Clark died of a heart attack in 1991, while Michael Clarke died of liver failure in 1993. Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, and Chris Hillman remain active. During their career they released 12 studio albums, 3 Live albums, & were a part of 47 compilation albums. They released 29 singles 7 of them made it to the top 40 including two #1 hits. This song comes from their Dr. Byrds And Mr. Hyde album. It was their 7th studio album & it came out in 1969. It was the first album to feature the new band line-up of Clarence White (guitar), Gene Parsons (drums), John York (bass), and founding member Roger McGuinn (guitar). The album peaked at number 153 on the Billboard album chart & the only single released from the album failed to chart at all. Nashville West by The Byrds www.youtube.com/watch?v=InWurH6bv8s

The single spent two weeks at #1 & 15 weeks total on the chart. Buddy Ace was a blues singer, known as the "Silver Fox of the Blues". His real name was Jimmie Lee Land & he was born in Jasper, Texas, but raised in Baytown near Houston. He began his career by singing gospel in a group that included Joe Tex. He signed with Duke/Peacock Records in 1955. His name was changed to "Buddy Ace" by Duke's Don Robey after Johnny Ace's younger brother (St. Clair Alexander) had no success with it. Buddy died of a heart attack while performing in Waco, Texas, early on Christmas Day, 1994, he was just 58. His catalog is relatively small & this song was on one of the albums that was released posthumously. It was originally included on an album called The Real Thing that came out in 1996. But, evidently the song itself was recorded back in 1971. Houston Town by Buddy Ace www.youtube.com/watch?v=57GBssA3MJ8

John Lee Hooker was a blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. It seems as though the circumstances of his birth are in doubt, he was born in either 1912, 1915, 1917, 1920, or 1923. Most official sources list 1917, though at times he, himself stated he was born in 1920. Information found in the 1920 and 1930 censuses indicates that he was actually born in 1912. In 2017, a series of events took place to celebrate the purported centenary of his birth. Even where he was born is questioned. It is believed that he was born in Tutwiler, in Tallahatchie County, although some sources say his birthplace was near Clarksdale, in Coahoma County, Mississippi. One thing that isn’t in doubt, He died in his sleep at home on June 21, 2001, in Los Altos, California. Which means he was anywhere between 78 & 89. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 & awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. He was also inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. Two of his songs, "Boogie Chillen" and "Boom Boom", are included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. "Boogie Chillen" is also included in the Recording Industry Association of America's list of the "Songs of the Century". The timeline on this song is tough to pin down, much like his date of birth, but evidently it was recorded in 1963, a year after the big hit I Left My Heart In San Francisco, & it has been included on more than one album since then.
