He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
This song comes from his debut album called Storms of Life. It was released on June 2, 1986. The album has been certified 3× Platinum. It landed at #85 on the top 200 but hit #1 on the Country albums chart.
It included 4 hit singles. On The Other Hand was his 1st single ever & also his 1st #1 Country hit, Diggin Up Bones was his 3rd release & it also got to #1, & closing out this album era was No Place Like Home which peaked at #2.
The song linked to here was his 2nd single & it got to #6.
The original title of this song was "1962." However, he said that he didn't feel comfortable singing about a love that he lost when he was only a little over two years old. He and producer Kyle Lehning revised the lyric to refer to 1982, as they felt it was more believable because it would have only been three years before the time of the recording.

Poco was a country rock band originally formed in 1968 after the demise of Buffalo Springfield.
During recording of Buffalo Springfield's third and final album, Last Time Around, lead singers Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay each recorded songs without the other members present. One of Furay's solo efforts was the country-influenced ballad "Kind Woman", which he recorded with the help of producer/engineer/bassist Jim Messina and pedal steel guitarist Rusty Young.
When Buffalo Springfield split up, Furay, Messina and Rusty Young decided to start their own group oriented toward such songs. Its original line-up was Furay (vocals and rhythm guitar), Messina (lead guitar, vocals, producer), Rusty Young (pedal steel guitar, banjo, dobro, guitar, mandolin and vocals), George Grantham (drums and vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass and vocals).
Randy Meisner quit the band while they were recording their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, though his bass and backing vocal parts were kept in the final mix. He was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit in 1969. Jim Messina left in 1970 to be replaced by Paul Cotton.
During their career they released 19 studio albums, 9 Live albums & 24 singles.
This song comes from their 1984 album called Inamorata. By this time only Paul Cotton & Rusty Young were left as members, but they were joined on the album by guest appearances from former members Richie Furay, Timothy B. Schmidt & George Grantham. The album landed at #167 & there were no singles released. They would not release anything else for 5 years.

Spirit was an American rock band founded in 1967 and based in Los Angeles.
The original lineup of the group evolved from a Los Angeles band called the Red Roosters, which included Randy California (born Randy Craig Wolfe; guitars, vocals), Mark Andes (bass) and Jay Ferguson (vocals, percussion). With the addition of California's stepfather Ed Cassidy on drums, and keyboard player John Locke, the new band was originally named the Spirits Rebellious (after a book by Kahlil Gibran), but the name was soon shortened to Spirit.
Randy California died in 1997 in a drowning accident while rescuing his son, he was 45. His step father Ed Cassidy died of cancer in at the age of 89 on 6 December 2012. John Locke passed in 2006 at the age of 62. Mark Andes & Jay Ferguson went on to form the band JoJo Gunne. Andes has also played with Canned Heat, Firefall & Heart. Ferguson went the solo route & then concentrated on writing movie soundtracks.
This song comes from their 3rd studio album. It was called Clear & was released in 1969, but the song was not originally a part of the album, they included it on the 1996 reissue.

This is Beatlemania at its best. This song was their 7th #1 single.
The song was released in the United Kingdom in December 1964 on the album Beatles for Sale. In the United States, it was first issued as a single in February 1965 before appearing on the North American release Beatles VI.
It was recorded on 6 October 1964 during two sessions that together lasted nearly seven hours, with a fifteen-minute break in between. The completed song incorporated another Beatles' first, in that it begins with a fade-in. It marked the first time that a fade-in had been used to open a pop song.
The song was written as a potential title song for The Beatles’ second film. In the end it became an album track on Beatles For Sale. The film became HELP!
I think we wrote this when we were trying to write the title song for Help! because there was at one time the thought of calling the film Eight Arms To Hold You.
John Lennon
The initial idea for ‘Eight Days A Week’ came from Paul, following a remark from his chauffeur.
I remember writing that with John, at his place in Weybridge, from something said by the chauffeur who drove me out there. John had moved out of London. to the suburbs. I usually drove myself there, but the chauffeur drove me out that day and I said, ‘How’ve you been?’ – ‘Oh, working hard,’ he said, ‘working eight days a week.’ I had never heard anyone use that expression, so when I arrived at John’s house I said, ‘Hey, this fella just said, “eight days a week”.’ John said, ‘Right – “Ooh I need your love, babe…” and we wrote it. We were always quick to write. We would write on the spot. I would show up, looking for some sort of inspiration; I’d either get it there, with John, or I’d hear someone say something. John and I were always looking for titles. Once you’ve got a good title, if someone says, ‘What’s your new song?’ and you have a title that interests people, you are halfway there. Of course, the song has to be good. If you’ve called it ‘I Am On My Way To A Party With You, Babe’, they might say, ‘OK…’ But if you’ve called it ‘Eight Days A Week’, they say, ‘Oh yes, that’s good!’

Bowling for Soup is a rock band formed in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1994. The band consists of Jaret Reddick (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Burney (guitar, backing vocals), Gary Wiseman (drums), and Rob Felicetti (bass guitar, backing vocals).
AllMusic describes the band’s style as a "catchy and humorous blend of power pop, ska, punk, and hardcore."
During their career they have released 11 studio albums with the most recent one coming in 2022. There have been 2 Live albums, 4 compilations & 18 singles.
This song comes from their 5th album called A Hangover You Don't Deserve, It was released in 2004. The album charted at #37 & has been certified Gold. It included the singles Almost which came in at #23 & Ohio (Come Back To Texas) #35, but they kicked it off with the song linked to here, it charted at #23 & has been certified as 2X Platinum.
The song is about a middle-aged woman who is stuck in the 1980s due to being in denial that her life is zooming by so fast and the fact that she never got to live out her ideal life before settling down and starting a family.
"1985" was originally written by SR-71's Mitch Allan. According to Jaret Reddick, Allan showed the song to him and instructed him to take it as his own, as it seemed more of a Bowling for Soup song than an SR-71 song.

Morrissey, is an English singer and songwriter from Davyhulme, Lancashire, England. His full name is Steven Patrick Morrissey. He turned 64 this year.
He 1st became known as the frontman and lyricist of rock band the Smiths, who were active from 1982 to 1987. Since then, he has been a solo artist.
Biographer David Bret has characterized him as an artist who divides opinion among those who love him and those who loathe him, with little space for compromise between the two. The press termed him the "Pope of Mope".
He has been nominated for awards across the musical landscape & won a few of them. In 1993 his album Your Arsenal was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy’s, but lost out to Bone Machine by Tom Waits.
During his career he was a part of 4 albums as a member of The Smiths & as a solo artist he has released 13 studio albums, 2 Live albums & 60 singles.
This song comes from his 1988 debut solo offering. It was called Viva Hate & it came out in 1988. The album peaked at #48 here in the states, but topped the UK charts. It has been certified as a Gold Record. The lead single from the album was called Suedehead, but it failed to chart here.
This song was the 2nd & final release. It also failed to chart here, but has done very well elsewhere hitting the top 10 in multiple countries.
The song's lyrics, which commemorate the dreariness of a seaside town in the off-season, were reportedly inspired by Nevil Shute's On the Beach, a novel about a group of people waiting for nuclear devastation in Melbourne, Australia.
The location used for the video was Southend-on-Sea. Throughout, Morrissey appears in the background of the video in roles such as a cyclist, a cafe customer, and a shop assistant.

I don’t think I have ever posted something quite like this & I may not have posted this one, but the more I listened, the more intrigued I became. Your mileage may vary.
Suuns is a Canadian rock band from Montreal.
The group was formed in mid-2007 when vocalist and guitarist Ben Shemie and guitarist and bassist Joe Yarmush got together to make some beats which quickly evolved into a few songs. The duo was soon joined by drummer Liam O'Neill and bassist and keyboardist Max Henry to complete the original line-up.
They released their 5th & most recent album in 2021 & it appears as though they have released just 1 single. This song comes from their 2013 album titled Images Du Futur. It was the 2nd of their 5 albums.

Stevie Wonder, is a singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer from Saginaw, Michigan. His real name is Stevland Hardaway Morris. He turned 73 in May.
He has won 25 Grammy Awards, as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. He is one of only four artists to have won the Grammy for Album of the Year three times as the main credited artist, along with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Taylor Swift. Stevie is the only artist to have won the award with three consecutive album releases.
During his career he has released 23 studio albums, 3 soundtrack albums, 4 live albums, 11 compilations, 1 box set, and 91 singles. His first album, The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie, was released in 1962 when he was 12 years old.
This was the title song to his 10th studio album. It came out in 1968, he was still just 18.
The album included four songs that hit the Hot 100 charts: "For Once in My Life" (#2), "Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day" (#9) "I Don't Know Why" (#39) and "You Met Your Match" (#35). The album saw him debut the Hohner Clavinet, which would become a mainstay on his albums in the future.
This song was the 3rd single released. The song was written back in 1965 & recorded by other artists before Stevie got it. It was originally recorded as a slow ballad, but Stevie turned it upside down when he recorded it in 1967. Berry Gordy did not like Stevie's version & vetoed the single's release, and the record was shelved. Billie Jean Brown, the head of the Motown Quality Control department, finally coerced Gordy into allowing this version to be released in October 1968.

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings were a funk and soul band signed to Daptone Records. They were part of a revival movement of mid-1960s to mid-1970s style funk and soul music.
Sharon was a soul vocalist from Augusta, Georgia. She died in 2016 after a long bout with cancer, she was 60.
The Dap-Kings, were the Daptone house band & are notable for their collaborations with Mark Ronson, including their contributions to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. The band continued to work and perform together through 2018.
The group were nominated for & won multiple awards, but they lost their only Grammy nomination. In 2014 their album Give The People What They Want lost out for Best R&B album to Love, Marriage & Divorce from Toni Braxton & Babyface.
Together they released 7 studio albums. This was the title song to their 3rd studio album & was released in 2007.
Rhapsody ranked the album #9 on its Rock’s Best Albums of the Decade list. Rhapsody's Justin Farrar wrote "Maybe there's something anachronistic about a band that plays funk music in the 21st century as if Parliament (let alone hip-hop) had never happened. It does sound like Sharon Jones could have cut her record in 1967, not 2007.

Five for Fighting, is a singer-songwriter and pianist from LA. His real name is Vladimir John Ondrasik III. He will be 59 next January.
He adopted Five for Fighting as a "band name" at the request of EMI executives, who found his name difficult to pronounce. The label also had concerns that the male singer-songwriter was "dead" in the mid-1990s. According to Ondrasik, the label "loved" the name Five for Fighting even though it sounded like a "heavy-metal band". "Five for fighting" is an ice hockey expression that means a five-minute major penalty for participating in a fight. He is a lifelong fan of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings.
During his career he has released 6 studio albums, one EP, and several live albums, his most recent album came in 2013. Ondrasik's song "Superman" was nominated for a Grammy in 2002 (he lost out to Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of by U2). He has had songs featured in 350 films,TV shows and advertisements.
This song comes from his 3rd album. It was called The Battle for Everything & it came out in 2004. The album came in at #27 & has been certified as a Platinum seller. There were 4 singles released from the album but only the song linked to here charted. It was the 1st single released & it got to #28, it has also been certified as Platinum.

A lot of folks have recorded this song. It goes all the way back to Chicago blues vocalist and harmonica pioneer John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson who first recorded it in 1937.
The Yardbirds were an English rock band, formed in London in 1963. The band started the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists: Eric Clapton (1963–1965), Jeff Beck (1965–1966) and Jimmy Page (1966–1968), all of whom ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 greatest guitarists. The band's other members during 1963–1968 were vocalist/harmonica player Keith Relf, drummer Jim McCarty, rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja, and bassist Paul Samwell-Smith, with Dreja switching to bass when Samwell-Smith departed in 1966.
Eric Clapton plays lead guitar on this one. He explained in an early interview:
[The Yardbirds were] working about every single night of the week. Trouble was finding new material for a disc. We remembered this 'Good Morning Little School Girl' from a rather obscure R and B artiste—a friend of ours had it on a long-player. So we rushed in and recorded it.
The single was released on October 20, 1964, in the UK, where it reached number 44 in the singles chart. Epic Records, the Yardbirds' American label, did not issue the single in the US, but in 1965 included the song on their first U.S. album, For Your Love. Later, in his autobiography, Clapton described the early recordings:
[They] sounded pretty lame. We just sounded young and white, and even though our second single, a cover of a rock version of 'Good Morning Little Schoolgirl', sounded much better, I felt just that we were falling short of the mark in some way. This was not something I felt just about the Yardbirds, but about other bands that I admired, like Manfred Mann, the Moody Blues, and the Animals, all of whom were far better live than they were on recordings.

She recorded the theme song for the James Bond film You Only Live Twice in 1967. In the liner notes of the CD reissue of her 1966 album Nancy In London, she states that she was "scared to death" of recording the song, and asked the songwriters: "Are you sure you don't want Shirley Bassey?"
Speaking of the album, Nancy In London, that is where this song comes from. It was her 3rd studio album & it originally came out in 1966, & landed at #122. This song was not included on that album until it was re issued in 1995. Her duet partner Lee Hazelwood produced the album & wrote this song.

The album was the last to be produced by Jimmy Miller, who was a key architect of their sound during their most acclaimed period which began with 1968's Beggars Banquet. Bass guitarist Bill Wyman only appears on three of the album's ten tracks.
The lead single was Angie which went to #1 & sold over a million copies. It was followed by Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Heartbreaker which stalled out at 15.

You are spending too much of your time behind the wheel if you are traveling 11 MPH.
Was (Not Was) is a band founded in 1979 in Detroit by David Weiss and Don Fagenson, who adopted the stage names David Was and Don Was.The name of the band was derived from Fagenson's son Tony, who was just beginning to talk and enjoyed contradicting words such as "Blue" with "Not Blue".
Due to the bands on again off again status they have released just 5 albums since 1981 with them most recent one coming in 2008. This song comes from their 3rd album. It was called What Up Dog? & it came out in 1988. It not only included their biggest hit single, but was also their highest charting album coming in at #43.
The song "Walk the Dinosaur" hit No. 7 on the Hot 100 singles chart. This song was the “B” side to the single.
The album included a long list of collaborators and guest musicians including Elvis Costello (co-writer of "Shadow & Jimmy"), Marshall Crenshaw (co-writer of "Love Can Be Bad Luck"), and Frank Sinatra Jr. on "Wedding Vows in Vegas".

Dave Edmunds is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer from Cardiff, Wales. He turned 79 in April.
His solo LP from 1975, Subtle as a Flying Mallet, included a collaboration with Nick Lowe and in 1976 they formed the group Rockpile, with Billy Bremner and Terry Williams.
Because Edmunds and Lowe were signed to different record labels, they could not record as Rockpile until 1980, but many of their solo LPs (such as Lowe's Labour of Lust and Edmunds' Repeat When Necessary) were group recordings. Therefore, there was just 1 album released under the band name of Rockpile.
But, way back in 1972, Dave released his 1st solo album & it was called Rockpile. He went on to release 14 more solo albums with the most recent one coming in 2015.
This song however, comes from the soundtrack to the 1985 movie Porky’s Revenge. Dave wrote, performed & produced most of the soundtrack & he also wrote this song. Other folks included on the soundtrack were Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, George Harrison, Carl Perkins, Jeff Beck. Clarence Clemons, & The Fabulous Thunderbirds. The movie was Nominated for Worst Picture Of The Year by Robert L. Rosen at the Stinker Awards.

This song was originally released as a single on 16 May 1980 but it did not chart, it did eventually chart in 1984 after the band had achieved success with other songs. The song reached number 30 on the US Rock Albums & Top Tracks chart after its inclusion on the band's live album Under a Blood Red Sky a few months prior; in 2020, the song reached number 69 on the Irish Singles Chart after it was reissued for Record Store Day in commemoration of its 40th anniversary.
It was also eventually included on the 2009 re – issue of their 1985 album The Unforgettable Fire. It had become one of their fan favorites at their concerts, so was included as a part of the Bonus CD.

Dinah Shore was a singer, actress, and television personality, and a chart-topping female vocalist of the 1940s from Winchester, Tennessee. Her real name was Frances Rose Shore. Dinah died of complications from ovarian cancer in 1994, she was just 5 days shy of turning 78.
She rose to prominence as a recording artist during the Big Band era & achieved even greater success later in television, mainly as the host of a series of variety programs for the Chevrolet automobile company. Who else remembers her singing “See The USA in Your Chevrolet”?
She released her version of this song in 1956 with a “B” side called What A Heavenly Night For Love. The single landed at #93.
The song was written by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, for the stage musical My Fair Lady. It was originally sung by Julie Andrews in the original Broadway production as the musical's heroine, Eliza Doolittle.

The Partridge Family was a musical sitcom created by Bernard Slade, which was broadcast from September 25, 1970 to August 24, 1974 on ABC.
The series followed the career of a band formed by the titular family, including Shirley (Shirley Jones), Keith (David Cassidy), Laurie (Susan Dey), and Danny (Danny Bonaduce), as well as their manager Reuben Kincaid (Dave Madden). The family was loosely based on the real-life musical family the Cowsills, a popular band in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The group recorded 8 studio albums including 1 holiday release, plus 5 compilations and 11 singles. All of their 1st three singles hit the top 10.
The song linked to here was their 4th release & it also did pretty well, by hitting #13, it was the only song from the album to be released as a single. It comes from their 3rd studio album. It was called Sound Magazine & was released in 1971. The album charted at #9 & has been certified Gold.
Since the group didn’t play their own instruments we are treated to performances by "the Wrecking Crew": Hal Blaine (drums), Mike Melvoin (piano), Larry Knechtel (piano), Dennis Budimir (guitar), Louie Shelton (guitar) and Max Bennett (bass). And members of the Ron Hicklin Singers – brothers John and Tom Bahler, Ron Hicklin and Jackie Ward with arrangements by John Bahler.
Just to show how hot David Cassidy was at the time, he was also on the charts with his solo single & cover version of Cherish.
RIP David Cassidy, Susan Crough, & Dave Madden. Shirley Jones is still with us & is now 89, Susan Dey is 70, Danny Bonaduce is 64, Jeremy Gelbwaks is 62.

Teenage Fanclub is a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Glasgow in 1989.
The group was founded by Norman Blake (vocals, guitar), Raymond McGinley (vocals, lead guitar) and Gerard Love (vocals, bass). The band has had a succession of drummers, namely Francis Macdonald, Brendan O'Hare and Paul Quinn. Keyboardist Finlay Macdonald (no relation) has also been a member.
Their musical style has been described as alternative rock, power pop, indie rock, indie pop, jangle pop, noise pop, pop-punk, and grunge (early). No Gregorian chant pop?!
During their career they have released 11 studio albums, 2 compilation album, 2 extended plays and 33 singles.
This song comes from their 1993 album Thirteen, it was their 4th studio album. There were 3 singles released, but since the band has never charted, albums nor singles, here in the states, they had no luck. The album did land on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, but that didn’t propel it onto the top 200. It landed at #14 in the UK. They continue to chart well in the UK & just released their latest album last month.
The song was written by guitar player & lead vocalist Raymond McGinley.

Indian Summer is a pretty popular song title. I narrowed the selection down to 5 & due to the artists & genres & eras, I suspect we have 5 different songs, but we shall see.
Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was the best-selling band from 1939 to 1942. Their best-selling records include Miller's theme song – "Moonlight Serenade" – and the first gold record ever made, "Chattanooga Choo Choo". In four years, they had 16 number one records and 69 top 10 hits, more than Elvis Presley and the Beatles in their careers. His musical legacy includes multiple recordings in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
To show how big he was on the charts, the song linked to here was just 1 of 37 singles he released in 1940 alone. The song got to #8 & was 1 of his 25 top 10 hits that year. The song was originally written as a piano piece in 1919 by composer Victor Herbert. Al Dubin wrote lyrics for the tune in 1939, twenty years after Herbert wrote the tune. Over the years it has been recorded by tons of different artists.
Vocalist Ray Eberle was from Mechanicsville, New York. He sang lead on "Sometime", composed by Glenn Miller in 1939, "Polka Dots and Moonbeams", "At Last", a number 9 chart hit on Billboard in 1942, and "To You", but Miller ran a tight ship and often fired people after one negative incident. Eberle was stuck in traffic one day during a Chicago engagement, and was late for a rehearsal. Miller fired him on the spot, and replaced him in June 1942 with Skip Nelson.

Skid Row is a rock band formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. After a brief hiatus between 1996 – 99, they are back at it & back on the road, coming to a town near you.
Original members Dave Sabo – guitar, backing vocals, Rachel Bolan – bass, backing vocals, & Scotti Hill – guitar, backing vocals have been joined by Rob Hammersmith – drums, backing vocals & Erik Grönwall – lead vocals.
The band has won just 1 major award. In 1990 they won for Favorite Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock New Artist at the American Music Awards.
During their career they have released 6 studio albums, 4 EPs, and 1 compilation album. They released their most recent album in 2022.
This song comes from their self - titled debut album released in 1989. The album got to #6 on the top 200 albums chart & has been certified as 5X Platinum. At the time of this album lead singer Sebastian Bach & drummer Rob Affuso were still with the band.
There were 3 singles released. Youth Gone Wild didn’t have much of an impact by landing at 99. The 3rd single was called I Remember You & after the success of the 2nd single it came in at #6.
The song linked to here was the 2nd release & charted at #4 & has been certified as Gold, it was also their biggest hit single. The songs co – writer Dave Sabo states that the original inspiration was his brother Rick's life after coming home from Vietnam. The writing process eventually led the song to being about an accidental murder.
