Holy Macau! - The final five chefs travel to the Chinese territory of Macau for the remaining battles of the competition. Judge Graham Elliot plays host to the chefs, introducing them to a local market full of fascinating ingredients to use in the Quickfire. Then the chefs throw a party celebrating the Chinese Year of the Pig (guess the star ingredient). Hong Kong superchef Jowett Yu guest judges.
Enjoy the show!

China is so lovely! I was very pleased to see that Justin, Brian, and some of the others got to come to China too to help out, then afterwards relax and enjoy the trip. Congrats to Kelsey for winning the Quickfire as well as the main heat. I was very scared for Eric tonight; it seemed like he had a rough week and the judges weren't thrilled with his dish but it was Adrienne's time to go.

I have been excited for Macau since they mentioned it.. it did not disappoint! LOVED the little woman in the market that was helping Kelsey. Michelle however won the quickfire with her cuttlefish pasta, not Kelsey. I was glad to see that she was at least in the top at the end there. I really want her and Eric in the final, but if it is 3 I will take Kelsey over Sara. She is a much more nuanced chef and I think has more versatility. I was SUPER worried for Eric, then when he (AND Adrienne) disagreed with Empress Padma.. I was all like ohhh crap. I think the right person went home, and frankly it was time. I honestly hope Sara is next. Had to giggle at the shot of Adrienne rolling her eyes at Sara when they were tasting her quickfire dish.

You're right; Michelle DID win.
I also agree with you re: Kelsey over Sara.

In fact, there were two or three timely placed shots of Adrienne's facial expressions during this episode.

Happy to see Adrienne go... I didn't like her treatment of Sara and she just got on my nerves for some reason. Happy for Michelle and Kelsey...go girls go!

I think Top Chef is one of the few reality competition shows that still holds all its casts sequestered until at or near the finale to keep spoilers seekers from distilling down winners and losers so airfare is the only real additional added cost to bring them along. I have also read here and there that Padma is very distant from the cast during filming and has an icy relationship with Tom so I am not sure she really carries a lot of weight beyond being just a vote. Tom seems o be held in much higher regard by competitors. I was glad to see Adrienne go. She seems to have been really dead weight ever since the house boat episode.I have no preference going forward from here. I don't like Sara's personality necessarily, but I don't see anything particularly bad about her performance.
