Wow! They saved the best for last tonight. The look on Luke’s face 😮, Lionel’s religious experience 😇... I’m not sure Katie quite got it, but she fed off their awe.

All right, I understand he is a genius with instrumental play, but singing? I kept waiting for him to move his voice around, but he stayed in the same upper range dynamic and soft voice. Not impressed with his voice, but his guitar and piano playing are remarkable.
Now, the legally blind girl who sang "Rise Up" truly had a magnificent voice. They've had a blind performer before (Scott) on AI, so they can make it work for her; but what do they do with a man who has no range and shuffles? How does he fit into the group rounds?

That last guy was absolutely incredible. If he doesn't win this thing, I can certainly see someone somewhere picking him up to be in their band. I have never seen anyone play a guitar like that!

Ok....I am trying to figure him out....super humble guy (plus), super gifted musically on the instruments, voice has an immediate grab to it even if it did not go anywhere range wise, wrote his own songs.
Backstory ??? He was home schooled. That means he was either in like groups led by parents, or he individually paced himself and went through a computer based program - perhaps testing through some accredited program. ( 2 different approaches to Home Schooling)
His home life did not necessarily have to be well to do, but it had to have enough money to be able to allow him to do this. He also has to be motivated and smart enough to do it. Obviously, he was both.
I don't know this, but I suspect this home most likely had a piano and a guitar. The fact that his "heroes" are Chopin and Bach - classical composers - indicate that although he may play by ear, he also picked up programs (from the computer perhaps) that taught him to play the piano. I don't know squat about the guitar. Maybe the same applies to it as well.
It is hard to imagine that he could learn to play classically on a piano on the streets, though. I can, though, see an extremely bright High School boy who finishes his computer work and then has a lot of time to teach himself to play musical instruments by programs on the computer.
These are theories, but I am fascinated by how this kid got to where he is.

Bloomers,
I grew up with a kid that taught himself to play multiple instruments. He learned to play guitar on a six string that only had 5 strings because he couldn't afford to buy the other one. But, he got really good on the 12 string once he did have a bit of money. He could sit down at the piano & play Elton John & Billy Joel & others note for note & never had a class. He plays trumpet but his real shining moments come when he takes up the harmonica. He has played on stage with folks like Asleep At The Wheel & even Eric Clapton. He has never had a lesson in any of these instruments & we grew up in the 60's & 70's, long before any type of computer programs were available.
There are just some folks that are gifted in ways the rest of us can't even begin to understand. I suspect that is where Alejandro comes in. Just watch Luke Bryan when he begins to pick the guitar like that or Lionel Ritchie when the kid sits at the piano. They know...they know!

He was pretty vague about his "story". I did think he may have been on the Spectrum as he was awkward/ uncomfortable with people....but certainy had a gift...but interesting that he never got anywhere with it before being seen on Idol.
