Eddie did okay, from what I heard after coming in late.
Now Wade is up, and I like his rough voice. But I don't know "lovelytheband" that he's singing with. ? He steps a lot more forward when singing than it seems the others did, not like a duet but like it's his concert. I don't know this song, but I like how he sings it. I hope the judges do!

I'm not a huge Eddie fan, but I do like Wade. And I actually knew that song.

I love this Chris Issac song...and he still sounds great. Evelyn wasn't bad either.

I love this Chris Issac song...and he still sounds great. Evelyn wasn't bad either. I love that song, too. Was impressed w/ Chris holding that note at the end. Evelyn was okay. Just not a big fan of her voice. I watched her season of 90 Day Fiance; her lookalike Dave Grohl dad is still fine!😄

I find Evelyn's voice odd, as if she opens her throat too much, or something. Chris Isaac sounded awesome though.
Logan and Julia (who?) did a good job making it a duet; it sounded like they were supposed to be together to sing that song. But, his voice is not one of my favorites.

Logan is so soft-voiced. He did fine with that song, but he's not a favorite of mine.

I don't remember Raquel. She's so young, she doesn't remember "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. I feel so old! I'm not liking the way she's singing the song. I don't know the correct term, but she's not smooth. Too much vibrato! Or, something! hahaha

Nope. Nope. Nope. Not digging "Tiny Dancer" as a duet. That didn't work for me, dawg. ( TM Randy Jackson).

Oof. Raquel needs to apologize to Elton for what she just did to his song there. Too much vibrato, for sure.
And how has she never heard that song anywhere??

Alejandro sings beautifully. Very nice job at the duet too. It was such a pretty song.
Cool comments from the pro (Ben Harper) too, about him.

Alejandro knocked that out of the park. The Grahams were beautiful, too.

Wade did justice to Lonely, that is one of my crank it and drive songs. I was dancing in my seat and singing, I almost forgot that wade was singing lol. He did a great job and I just love his little personality. He always makes me smile.
I want to see more of Ryan and Cynthia together, they fit SO well. Great job for not even knowing the song.
I like Eddie, but I do not like that song.. at all.. BUT he and Lukas need to be buddies forever, THAT was the best part of it all for me. Really hate that song, meh.
HATED Tiny Dancer, oh my. That was awful on her part. Mitchy Collins however can sing it anytime he wants. She even scared him..ouch.
Logan may not have the biggest or strongest voice, but I liked them together, he filled Niall's shoes well enough. I have always be a Team Niall kinda girl with 1D so,yeah, giggle. I think it was the sweetest duet thus far.
Ragu did good. Good opener. Good song for her.

Hmm, who is going home? I think maybe Raquel and Logan. Not sure of the 3rd spot.

Raquel, Logan, and Ryan go home.
Very sad about Ryan. I thought he was amazing singing with Cynthia Erivo, especially since he'd never heard that song before(Hold On, I'm Coming). Would have liked Evelyn to go but she's Katie's fave and they were short on females tonight. Guess my choice would have been Eddie Island.

Ack, got a phone call and missed the ending! Thanks for the update, all. Maybe I'll catch up with the end at some point, but basically I heard the ones I wanted to hear. Jeremiah singing last indicates he wouldn't be going home since he's closing the show, so they must like him and know he'd do well.

Raquel...i want to like her but does she have to do a run every word? Hold a note please.
Edit: Or vibrato...whatever it was it was awful.

I had to watch Evelyn again, I want to like her but the more I see of her the less I do. I thought it unfair that she got to do a song she has done already, and the one they got her to Hollywood at that. Tonight I would have traded her for Ryan OR Logan. Riley would be the other I'd trade for either one of them.
I really don't have much to say about Dimitrius. I like the person better than his singing, he comes off like a nice guy and he is funny. I just don't see his voice as showstopping or anything amazing.
Aww Jeremiah, can I just adopt him?? Seeing Cynthia a second time, and with him.. I want to take all that she is, her life, her energy, and her smile, and bottle it and wash my hair with it every morning. I want that energy she just exudes so naturally all around me.. always. That is one pairing that I felt was just perfect.
The other perfect paring was Ben Harper and Alejandro. I may be old but I never got (or used) the phrase "in the feels" but that did it and there is truly no other way to describe it. Homey got Ben off the couch and had Stevie making premonitions.. he is special.

I may be the only one who doesn't particularly like Alejandro. He sings alright in his style, but nothing special. I could be wrong, but I think when he has to sing other styles, he is going to struggle. To me, he and Raquel were the weakest of the night. Raquel butchered Tiny Dancer, a song I love. I too thought Evelyn should have sung a different one than the one from her audition but she did well enough to move on. I think the judges chose the right ones to advance. From Sundays show, I would have chosen Riley to leave because as cute as she is, she doesn't have enough life experience to understand and perform songs of heartache and tragedy.

My favorite duet of the night by far, was Chris Isaak. Chris can still sing! I'm not an Evelyn fan.

I may have kept Ryan & booted Eddie, but I think he is too similar to Jeremiah & may have split that vote. Alejandro, I just don't see how so many people can't see the talent in this guy. And like Ashley from last night, the more I see of Demitrius, the more I like him.

I had no problem with the three who went home last night. I did not love the song choices for some of the people both nights. At least the first night, the songs belonged to the duet partners...not so last night...just some bad choices by the AI producers or the duet partners...it was not clear to me.
Now looking over the 14 finalists, they fall into two distinct groups ------good singers and those singers with some ( or a lot of) artistry.
The three teens--Alyssa, Riley and Madison are good singers as are Laine, Eddie and Uche.
Hopefully the first cuts from America's vote will come from this group.

I could see why Alejandro's mentor was who he was. All of Alejandro's songs sound very similar to the one the two of them sang last night...and sang very well. Alejandro writes like his mentor. That said - beside his awesome guitar playing, where is the range? All of his songs are very soft, and they don't go up or down. What he does is good, but everyone else is required to show variety. Why is that not a requirement for him as well?
It appeared to me that the song choice for the contestants was decided by the mentor. Layne sang a repeat, The Weight. I was not crazy about this version which was much faster than the original and the one that he did at auditions. Evelyn sang Wicked Games which is her mentor's signature song. He selected the song without knowing she had sung it for her audition. BTW, I did not see her other reality show, and I have no pre-conceived idea of her. I do like her throaty voice, and I hope she selects songs that showcase her voice.
I "think" that I gathered Ryan has been singing with a Christian touring type group. He has a great powerful voice, but I can tell you that those kinds of groups do not move around the stage or interact with the audience. Just to help understand why he doesn't know how - yet - it is a totally different dynamic. The emphasis is on the music going up to God whereas with performing, the performer has to "sell" himself. We know how that is done, and my guess is that this next year Ryan will work with someone who will help him learn how to "work the stage and audience." He was my husband's favorite singer.
Just a little amusing thought....in Dancing With the Stars, the posters call the last number "the pimp spot". It is really good, and leaves you with a good feeling about the show. When I said to my husband who is new to the auditions and fairly new to American Idol that the pimp spot was up next, he looked slightly aghast and said, "WHAT is that?!!!! Of course, Jeremiah ( who looks like Prince Harry to me) is such a gentle soul, and each performance seems to get stronger than the last. Last night he just bloomed in the hands of his mentor. That was a beautiful job.

My problem with Jeremiah is the ability to hold an audience for an entire concert. I just can’t imagine sitting through that. He has a fine voice but no creativity.

What I hope to see with the contestants is if they are able to sing in different ways. For instance, Jeremiah has a wonderful range, but can he sing an upbeat, peppy, happy song? Can Eddie Island sing a heartfelt serious ballad? Can Alejandro show range, some force to his voice, and some varieties of song choices? Can Uche sing something serious and straight - and pull it off - if that is the assignment without jumping all over the stage? Can Dimitrius sing something happy? ETC.
They all have their styles, but the best American Idols were the ones who could take whatever assignment was handed to them, modify it, and sing it well even when it wasn't their style or genre.
