A Discovery of Witches (season 1, episode 1) - April 7, 2019 per Google: Airs on AMC and BBC America To me this is much more adult then much of the paranormal series which tend to be based on Young Adult (YA) books or are more action orientated hunt the monster type shows. Recap: showsnob.com/2019/01/17/a-discovery-of-witches-season-1-premiere/

I just watched the whole season this weekend - excellent! They stayed pretty close to the books, casting and acting were great, and I read that seasons 2 and 3 have been given the thumbs up so we have more to look forward to. I can't wait to see the time jumping stuff, it was some of my favorite material from the books.

AMC ran a marathon of season 1 this past Sunday. They also aired Season 2 Episode 1, however I think future episodes will be available on AMC + which is AMC's new streaming service. It is getting ridiculous that I am paying for cable and yet need to also pay for a streaming service to watch episodes.

Wait, they're not even going to show season 2 on regular AMC after we've waited almost two years??! That really pisses me off. I'm not getting yet another streaming service.

The filmed season 2 and 3 back to back and are current.ly airing on AMC +. There are 10 episodes for season 2. I will do like you FireWoman wait and get a free 7 day trial. I hate this pay extra for exclusive content, I always knew my $200 a month cable bill was useless but it is getting easier and easier to let it go and just go streaming.

Season 2 Episode 1 - 8 January 2021
AMC did air Season 2 Episode 1 back in January I guess to get people to go over to AMC+. I watched it back then and rewatched it after starting my free 7 day trial just so I would remember the feel. While I like A Discovery of Witches, season 1 at times plodded along, the season 2 episodes seem so much more dense.
I do think that the entire film crew is doing a fabulous job translating the books into film and really making it all come alive.

Season 2 Episode 2 - 15 January 2021
Life is complicated with Matthew reverting to more of the personality he had when he lived in 1590. The power structure is incredible.
I don't know how Diana manages to keep so fresh and clean in an era with no indoor plumbing or electricity.

Season 2 Episode 3 - 22 January 2021
There is a feeling of frustration in Diana trying to find a teacher and learn what she is, and with Matthew trying to maneuver through his old life, and both trying to find the Book of Life. Lets not forget all the folks spying and plotting and seeing conspiracies everywhere.

Season 2 Episode 4 - 29 January 2021
This episode is like a pail of cold water thrown over your head because it is set in the present. There is no Diana or Mathew, and as a viewer you have to draw yourself out of 1590 London and back to present day Oxford and to other story lines involving the vampires, witches, the Congregation, and Marcus struggling with being the Grandmaster of the Knights of St. Lazarus. You start to think why am I even concerned about these matters, what about Diana and Matthew? It is good to have the break but jarring. These storylines have to be shown because that is what Diana and Matthew are going to jump into when they get back.

I am a bit confused I thought Diana and Matthew did have sex? It sure seemed as if they did.

Season 2 Episode 5 - 5 February 2021 I am a bit confused I thought Diana and Matthew did have sex? It sure seemed as if they did. From what I recall they did not consummate the union until they were married in Philippe's home, after Diana received Artemis' blessing . In the books it did not happen till the second book so it would make sense that it had not happened till this point in the show.

Season 2 Episode 6 - 12 February 2021
Lots of family issues on top of political issues. The human servants seem to just take it all in stride.

Season 2 Episode 7 - 9 February 2021
One thing I have gotten from this series is that it is very dangerous to be near people with power, both Queen Elizabeth I and King Rudolph are crazy.

Season 2 Episode 8 - 26 February 2021
Marcus, it amazes how a person can be over 250 yrs old can still be so ignorant of creature motivation and be so naïve.

Season 2 Episode 9 - 5 March 2021
The best part was Diana finishing the 9th knot and summoning her familiar then later using Corra to defend herself.
I did find it rather weird that Louisa managed to have a fine set of chains to manacle Diana as needed.
Luv'ed that Jack stole the book back from Cecil and the Queen's Guards.

Season 2 Episode 10 - 12 March 2021
The big difference between the book and the tv series is in the book I feel this wonderful fantasy of Diana discovering the Other part of the world, her power, her heritage, and get to go on a great adventure in 1590 London while the TV series manages to show the menace of the era, and you can feel the danger from both the creatures and the human politics.

Season TWO of Discovery of Witches will be airing on the regular cable network, I think next week. I am a bit flummoxed as I waited as long as I could got the free 7 day trail of AMC + watched, didn't cancel quickly enough and had to pay for a month's service only to find out that season 2 will start airing it looks like next Sunday.
