The Stitch Is Back - The designers find their workspace decked-out in everything Elton John. They learn they'll be creating an over-the-top look inspired by the movie 'Rocketman.' They are given highly-qualified assistants, and are shocked to discover who they are.
Enjoy the show!

Now that was a fun challenge. And both of the top 2 were absolutely fabulous!

I'm glad Nina was back. She seems to keep the other judges from completely losing the point. I liked both of the top two designs, but I am tired of Garo using corsets. Nadine is still negative. I couldn't work with her. I think it would be nice to use male models more often, just to switch things up.

The show was fun, although purely like a "costume ball". For the designers who want to create wearable clothes, a tough challenge, for someone like Garo who creates mostly "costumes", it was perfect. His was by far the best constructed, and "professional" looking. The others looked like something a mom would throw together for a night of trick or treating. Sonia, whom I liked when she was on the show, behaved ridiculously. It wasn't her challenge, and she kept yammering on how "she wanted credit". Credit for what? It was obviously 98% Garo, and it didn't matter anyway.... she isn't even in the competition anymore. She was there for HELP as an assistant..... not credit.
Glad he won. (He also seems like a nice guy.) And although I have liked Lela's clothes in past shows, when she pointed out the white boa was there to cover a flaw, I knew she was "out". Her's was the worst design of this challenge.
NOW.... I look forward to competitions with some REAL clothes that people can actually wear. (Well, except for Hester's of course.)

Well, they had to promote a movie coming out, plus costume design for movies, TV and stage is big business - plus you can get awards like an Oscar for it. It was great to meet someone who makes his money at that business. I appreciated his comments at the runway even when he said he liked Tessa's outfit for daywear. I, too, was glad Nina was back. She whispered during the show - that is Garo's, see the corset. I didn't even notice the corset until she mentioned it.

Lela amazed me with her self-centeredness.
I watched last week's show prior to this one and I really think that overall, these designers are not as talented as those of previous seasons.....There were some cheap Halloween costumes both weeks...very odd for this late in the season.

Not sure if it was because it was time or because of that bs last week where another designer went home over the one with the worst outfit because he had immunity, but it's off the table now and I am glad. I enjoyed this episode for many reasons; they were given ample funding, time, and help to complete their looks. It was good seeing Renee, Frankie, Afa, and the others again, and for the most part the teams worked together well to create fantastic Elton John looks. People with high conceptual skills (Jamall, Bishme, Garo) created wonderful looks while others looked like Party City.
I have no idea what bee flew up Sonia's bonnet but she really needs to learn the difference between a group challenge and a helper role and giving suggestions with tact; at certain points she was outright combative with Garo over design elements. Nadine, too, had a pointed tone while working with Vinny but then again she seems to always be nasty and bitter. Contrast them with Tessa and Frankie. Frankie offered to make certain elements of Tessa's outfit, gave her critical advice (which Tessa took) and often came up with good suggestions that were neither critical or combative. I guess having the stress of the competition of her was a very good thing for Frankie because she thought more critically about the work than she did in the first group challenge.
I agree with the winning and losing looks. For the first time I really wished that two people could win because both Bishme and Garo did excellent jobs; I loved Bishme's because it was so "[redacted] betta have my money" pimptacular with a twist while Garo's was pure showman. The whole "You need to give me credit" issue was ridiculous, especially since Garo told the judges what Sonia did and how much she helped him and it really left a bad taste in my mouth concerning her. Lela deserved to go; she has been lackluster for weeks and what she ssent down the runway was both unfinished and tasteless.

I personally preferred Bishme's look and wished he had won. And I didn't really catch what, if anything, Garo said about Sonia's contributions to the look and the work she did. If he did, I don't understand Sonia's reaction, but if he didn't, then I do understand, because even if she's an assistant just helping out, she deserved to get credit for what she did, as did everybody else who helped out those still in the competition.
And does Christian get the chance to save an eliminated competitor like Tim did in previous seasons? Because I feel that out of all people, Renee deserved to be saved, so I wonder if the reason he didn't save her was because this challenge was the next one they'd do and they needed a set number of people to compete and the same number to come back and help.

Renee has some kind of issue with any connection to other designers. There was no need with her tailoring skills to turn out those ill fitting pants. Nobody but her was working on them so it was all on her skills. The top was pretty ugly too.

I agreed with the top and bottom two - but Jamal's outfit was awful IMO. Would Hester have been on the bottom if she hadn't had immunity?

Yes, she would have and she was called lucky by the judges.

It was towards the end of his critique; I believe it was Elaine who asked him what Sonia contributed and he talked about the tailoring of the pants and some other things before they quickly went to another scene. Since the critiques can go on for a while and there's a TV in the backstage lounge so Sonia could hear what he said I can't for the life of me understand why she reacted the way she did, but then again she seemed to be in an oddly combative mood with him from the beginning.

It had something to do with the sequinned crotch area. Sonia said that she was the one who came up with the idea for it, and so she wanted Garo to acknowledge it. I kind of agreed with her. Since the judges were raving about his outfit, it would have been nice if Garo had pointed out that it wasn't entirely his design. He could have also helped a fellow designer by giving her some free publicity.
I am glad they are eliminating immunity going forward. Twice now when she had terrible looks Hester has conveniently scraped by since she had immunity. I agree with Bishme. He had an overjoyed expression when Karli announced it, and so she asked him to explain. "It's time to put up or shut up," he said. Yep. It's time for Hester and her "misunderstood genius" aesthetic to face the music.
Overall, I loved this challenge. It was the first one I enjoyed. I would have been happy with either of the top 2 winning. And even the judges said that they should use male models more often and shake things up. I agree.
