I was a big fan of Laine from his audition with "Hurricane" last year... not keen on the Elvis persona that cropped up.
Was the song he sung at the end the typical "Idol Winner" song he was provided with that will be released? I have to admit my husband fast forwarded quite a bit so I missed out on some explanations!
During the finale we found ourselves rooting for Alejandro in big part because he is SO sweet and humble. A guy with no family support, no real connections, it was just awesome to see his hometown welcome him.
Happy for all the top three! We know that any of the top 4 can go on to have great careers... :-)

I heard Ryan say on LIVE that Alejandro could not take the plane to NYC and had to get off. Now that I think about it, he had to fly to Hawaii when they performed there. Of course if he didn't go he would not have been able to continue on AI.

Lot of flying coming up on his tour. n You can't get from Chicago to San Francisco in two days without flying; but it will be commercial.

If he announced "his" tour, then he pretty much got out of AI what he needed.....so good for him.

Evidently, he wrote Louisiana Lady. I was quite surprised at this song for an 18 or 19 year old boy, He was doing a very good job singing it, but I was having a bit of trouble with, "Did he write this song?" It is a lovely song, but it would seem more credible if it had been written by someone with a few more years on him - and I don't mean that in any way except he is very young Laine wrote the song with Rob Crosby, who is old enough to be Laine's grandfather, and a very seasoned writer. That makes much better sense! I hope he and Rob Crosby get air time on the very nice song.

I was really frightened the first time I flew, and I still would not want to fly in a small private plane. I can't blame these kids. That said, this is their opportunity, and they have to go for it. It is not going to come to them. They are just going to have to muster the courage to overcome their fears to achieve their dreams. If the doors will but open for them, any of the Top 20 can have some kind of to a very good career. I look forward to hearing in positive ways about them all.
