The Final Runway - In the Season Finale, three designers have fought for the chance to show their collections to the New York fashion elite and to the world. They will grapple with all aspects of putting together an amazing runway.
Enjoy the show!

I'm so happy for Sebastian. I think he deserved more recognition this season. Garo deserved third place. He had some problems. Hester's work was good, but it was not new and revolutionary. It is from Clueless. She does still need a mentor to help her hold back a little. I think an opportunity with DVF would help her. I hope Christian gets a save or gets to talk with the judges next season. Now that the season is over, I am sure that I don't like Elaine as a judge. I also don't like hearing Brandon's comments during the runway. This episode felt long. I don't think a show should be 90 minutes unless it needs to be 90 minutes.

I am so glad Sebastian won. The way the women on the judging panel were going on about Hester and how she could benefit from the internship portion of the prize for winning, I was afraid they were going to give it to her, even though they all agreed that Sebastian's clothes could go into production as they were. I don't care what DVF said. My first instinct was also that Hester's collection seemed fractured, whereas Sebastian's seemed cohesive, and yes, for every woman (or junior) who wants to be "quirky" there are probably ten who would prefer to feel beautiful or elegant in their clothes. I did think Hester had talent and I did like some of what she produced, but by the end of the season, I was just sick of hearing about hearing about how quirky or rebellious or edgy she and her clothes were--and if I never see another tam with a message written on it, it will be too soon. It just seemed like she was trying too hard to be original, and sometimes she just wasn't--and sometimes she was costumey, too. It wasn't just Garo who erred in that direction.
Speaking of whom, I could see why he came in third. His collection did have a point of view, but it was not well-constructed, and he wasn't going to get by with that on the final runway. Nor should he have.
Oh, yeah, and Sebastian seemed so modest and humble about what he was able to produce. He just seems like a guy who would be very easy to work with, which I would think would serve him well in the fashion business.

Oh my gosh..... thank goodness. I was so afraid they were going to give it to Hester.
• Sebastian's clothes were beautiful, and as always, impeccable. Women of all ages could wear wear his designs. He deserved to win.
• I liked many of Garo's clothes, but the judges were right; the details were not as perfect as Sebastian's. (Personally, loved the black pant with the corset-like top with the racer back. Beautiful, very flattering to the figure, and it looked comfortable.)
• Hester does do fine finishing, and I must say..... many of her clothes looked extremely difficult to make. She can certainly sew well! But 98% of America would have no place to wear her clothes, nor would they want to wear her clothes. Perhaps young club goers in LA, San Francisco and New York. Despite what Nina says, knee socks, and tutus with suspenders don't have much of an audience.
All in all, a fun season. Christian finally started growing on me as a mentor in the last 3 shows, but I still miss Tim Gunn.
BTW, has Heidi and Tim's show been broadcast yet? I have not seen or heard anything about it.

Amen about Hester's clothes. Not only would very few people have anywhere to wear them, but it would be hard to modify them from the runway to something that might be more marketable. Also, that whole short skirt, knee high thing made me think, uncomfortably, of those supposedly sexy Catholic school girl costumes that are just....ewww.

I agree, the editing was pointing to a Hester win. She does have talent with styling, but she isn't all that original. Betsey Johnson did it first, so no, Hester you are not creating a fashion revolution. So glad Sebastian won, his collection was the most cohesive and the most well constructed. Garo should have ditched the dress with the wonky zipper and replaced it with the sparkly dress with the paillettes. The judges loved it, therefore I would have included it.

I'm so glad Sebastian won! I thought he deserved it based on his collection. I thought the judges were leaning that way, but they've chosen other designers as challenge winners when I thought Sebastian would win, so I wasn't certain. Not only did I think his collection was best, I also thought it would sell best as a mini collection on Bravo.
I don't think there's a large percentage of the population that would choose to wear Hester's clothes, but she'll probably find a following.

Garo had some good pieces, and I'm glad he made it to the final three, but 3rd place was perfect for him.
The other two did well, in their very specific points of view. I could have seen either winning, though I was hoping for Sebastian. Gosh, he's so talented! Everything he made was just so beautiful. I loved those woven pieces and how perfectly done they were.
I really like Christian, even though I liked Tim Gunn too. But that host/Heidi-person had on the worst dress at the final runway show!! Yuck. I can't remember her name, but it was too short and those weird shoulder things made it look spacey.
It was a fun season! At the end, did it seem like Christian was priming us for the next one?

Surprisingly, I'm not missing Tim Gunn. I'm applauding Christian and smiling and laughing with him. Loved the ending with his stay tuned announcement.
Artistically I really love Hester who would go over with the "influencers". I know she is not wearable except for a niche audience, but it made me smile that DVF saw her talent and perhaps will guide her vision.
Sebastian was on track to win with Garo and his angst on track to come in third. I loved the whole Mood "for thread" contretemps Sebastian had with Christian.
Wonder if we will see Sebastian's looks on Bravo.com?

I forgot about the host. She did not leave a big impression on me. Heidi had more personality.

I really, really like CS and glad that he is coming back as mentor.
Now about the final three. I kept saying about Garo....What the heck are you showing?? There was very little of the carefully tailored, corset outfits that he was applauded for during the season. All he had was sparkley flowy things that were so ordinary.....and why did he ever spend so much time altering that dress for the larger model when a) he had ten other outfits and b) it was nothing special c) he was sloppy in his tailoring that should have been perfect for that show.

Loved the finale! I think they all did well, but Sebastian's clothes were just breathtaking.
I wonder if Diane von Furstenberg will take Hester under her wing, as she seems to be a big fan.
I thought the new hosts were great, and Christian was wonderful as the mentor. Interesting that Karli Kloss is married to Jared Kusher's brother. They dated for several years before she converted to Judaism. And Ivanka Trump, who also converted to Judaism to marry Jared Kushner, had the nerve to call Karli a shiksa.
Okay, getting off my soapbox now.

So was I! I actually stopped watching just before they revealed the winner since I thought she was going to get it. Yea, Sebastien! Whoo hoo! Well deserved. I liked Garo, too, but he really shot himself in the foot. He should have followed DVF's advice and stayed true to himself. Ibot was right; where were those corseted dresses we saw all season? And ditching the dress that the judges raved about?
And you're right, Justmythoughts. About the only place Hester could fit in is with the club scene in NY or LA. Either that, or migrate to Hollywood and become a stylist for "out there" celebrities like Lady Gaga. The only place I could see that tutu monstrosity being worn is someplace like the Met Gala, where stars try to be outrageous as possible. Maybe Hester should be mentored by that guest stylist they had on the show. She loved Hester's collection. It was the only collection that she complimented. And yeah, that short skirt/high boot combo made me queasy at times, too.
I loved Christian as the mentor. I'm glad he's coming back. I also like Brandon, but then, we're both from Texas. Nina should stay, of course. The other two were just meh. Was it the last episode where Karli wore those high heels and towered over Christian like a giraffe? Looks like she borrowed Alyssa Milano's stylist.

Sebastian crying when he won tore me up. I'm so happy for him. I loved every piece he sent down the runway -- even the burnt orange opener. He's incredibly talented. I'm glad he didn't give up that time he wanted to. He's living his dream. I actually liked most of Garo's looks. The final 2 or 3 looks were the ones I didn't care for. Regardless of cohesiveness, I think he should have swapped out that one look with the zipper problem and replaced it with the sequin garment the judges loved so much. Hester's ensemble was better than I thought it would be. I still didn't think her collection was win-worthy, but is wasn't as Junior Miss as I had expected. In fact, her opening lace tutu outfit with the model wearing the Marie Antoinette hairpiece was the worst of the lot for me. Overall, the red and lavender color combo didn't work, imo.

I agree - she has something going on about bras and garters...dressing up women to look like five year olds is as ewwww as dressing up 5 year old girls to look like adults. Felt a tad sicko to me.I cant understand why any of the judges liked her stuff except for the fact that it was well tailored and hard to make. A few items were OK but agreed- most women would steer away from her rebel without a cause looks.
I too liked some of Garo's stuff- and there were a few misses and not putting in teh judges favorite dress was a mistake. A tad arrogant maybe?
I didn't mind Karli and I actually liked her dress at the finale LOL. I also enjoyed Christian and think he did a great job.
As for Sebastian - everything he made was stunning, what a deserving winner. How humble and thankful he was. Made my week!

Totally agree. I just don't get the mentality of Hester and women like her. Why would you want to dress like a child? There must be some psychological reason for it. Regardless of the reason, it's just weird and vaguely creepy.
Interesting comment about Garo. As much as I liked him, I can see your point. He had a flourishing store (according to him) before 9/11, so maybe that made him feel a tad bit superior to the other designers here. Also, how many outfits did he bring to the finale? 16 or 17? I can see maybe bringing an extra outfit in case something happened to one of them (and which did happen to him and Sebastien!). But isn't that a tad bit excessive? You really couldn't make up your mind or you wanted to show off? And how in the world could you think you might win when you sent that tacky-looking zippered dress down the runway?

Hester is not even the first designer with that aesthetic. As some of us pointed out, there was a designer on the old PR who looked and sewed like her. Just like with Nina this season, there was a single judge who just loved him and convinced the others to give him a chance. He only lasted for a single challenge, so that's why we were praying that Hester would follow in his footsteps. How times have changed.

I too was thinking about Betsy Johnson. I was in High School when her clothes first came out. Then, I remember you could purchase her styles as patterns; Simplicity and Butterick. Her clothes were a bit quirky, but one could easily wear them. She had some great dress styles, and if you made them with different materials.... fun and different. They were definitely for younger women (High School and perhaps a bit older), but they were cute; attractive.
Hester's style is so very limited. Over the top quirky, to the point they look costume-y. Nice the Diane VF liked Hester's style, but.... seems like a very short lived style. (As for Nina.... I can't believe she actually liked the Cutie Pie hats. UGH.)
