OK, I may be opening up an ugly can of worms here, and if I am, please delete this post. I don't want to offend or anger anyone. It's not my style.
But, how does everyone feel about the latest release from TPTB in Football, that players will no longer be allowed to kneel or sit during the National Anthem? They can stay in the locker room if they choose and come out after, but if they come out for the Anthem, they must stand & show respect.
Personally I think this is a decent resolution to the can they or can't they issue. I'm tired of hearing about the issue in a game that has nothing to do with the problem. These are men with multi million dollar contracts to play a game & even more multi million dollar sponsorships & subsequent job offers, whining about inequality? I say quit your bellyaching & showboating & do something to help, like set a good example for children, or volunteer for organizations that are genuinely trying to make a difference.

I totally agree with the news. Should have been done a long time ago. It's showing respect and honor for this country. thumbs

I'll chime in...I LOVE football. Greenbay Packers!
And I believe people should be allowed to protest. Mike Pense did when he protested the protesters. I don't think it's up to the NFL as a whole to decide but the different outfits. Also, forced Nationalism is scary. I think it is wonderful to love our country but by that, we are so lucky to get to try and change flaws.

Black men being harrassed and worse by police is worth protesting; and blind adoration of a symbol has never been in my wheelhouse. (I say this as a daughter and sister of servicemen.)

I have plenty who served in the military in my family, also. Not a one of them disagreed with this news of the NFL. They were very pleased to hear this new ruling. If players can't stand all but of maybe 3 minutes to honor their country's flag..there's something wrong with our allegiance. Shows me the degradation of this country's spirit. It's a shame. So un-American, IMO.

It's the mandatory part that gets to me. I will salute, but I prefer free choice stay in place.

To each his/her own, I guess. I feel it's an oxymoron to sit down, disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out.

Colin's skills started declining over time and he's not really good enough to be a starter anymore, except for maybe a team like the browns. He should try to go to the canadian league or arena football if he wants a chance to try to start.

The Bears somehow lost.

I liked the way FOX handled the National Anthem on the early show (49ers vs Vikings). They didn't show it. period. Also, at the Tennis match on Saturday (First one I've watched this year) They sang America the Beautiful while unfurling the flag. That works, too. Well, 49ers lost their first game, but they weren't skunked at least. I also had the Carolina vs. Dallas game on in the background because Christian McCaffrey (Stanford phenom) plays for Carolina. They won!

Bills with a surprising blowout win after looking terrible the first two games.

I swear...as soon as I get a chance to watch the 49ers on TV, they lose. Never fails. Guess I won't be watching when I'm able in the future.

I really wanted the Saints to win that one.
And I do NOT want the Patriots winning anything. Come on, KC.

That 'no call' was devastating. I wanted the Saints to win, but most important, a fair game.
And I agree, go KC!

For the second game today - OVERTIME! I don't care for the overtime rules, either. There was some seriously bad officiating last night - the blatant interference that they didn't call in the first game, and that BS "roughing the passer" the Patriots got. I guess you can't even wave your hand in front of Brady's face without drawing a flag. Go Rams, I guess!

There were definitely some bad calls that day in both games, but it was still a great game and Brady showed again that he is the best QB of all time.

I was hoping for a different outcome to both the games, but this solves a problem for me: Who to root for. I won't be watching this year. I don't wish to see either one of the teams win.

When that happens to me I just watch for the halftime show and the commercials. I'm not an enormous Rams fan, but I'll pull for them over the Pats any day. I've hated that team ever since the '82 snow plow fiasco vs. my Dolphins.

One of the first super bowls I watched as a kid was the Bears vs the Patriots. Those Bears are still one of my favorite teams. The superbowl shuffle and skits on saturday night live.

Good to see Gladys Knight is not backing down from controversy and will perform the national anthem at the super bowl. I think Cardi B not performing at the halftime show is a positive, I will be glad not to see her.

Yeah, the lawsuit is pretty silly. And a waste of time. I did laugh at the eye doctor who offered all the refs a free vision test.
