Just made it under the wire, it's the spectacular Survivor 39 Pool! Who among us can pick the best team and achieve fame, money, power, and bragging rights? (or maybe just the last one). As always, you'll be ranking all the players from most confidence to least confidence. Here are the players. As far as we know, Sandra and Boston Rob will not be playing for the million, so don't include them in your pool. Here are the tribes:
Lairo Tribe: Aaron Chelsea Dean Elaine Elizabeth Karishma Missy Ronnie Tom Vince Vokai Tribe: Dan Jack Jamal Janet Jason Kellee Lauren Molly Noura Tommy
Here's the scoring rubric. New to this season is that getting a disadvantage (eg "no vote") is worth minus 2, because they're usually the result of gambling for an advantage, and gambling shouldn't be free. Also, since Limited Time Idols are becoming more prominent (eg "This idol is only good at the next 2 Tribal Councils"), such idols will only be worth 1 point per tribal they're good for
Final selections are due on 10/2 before Episode 2 airs in your locality (honors system) Good luck, and happy guessing

Team Name: We Didn't Start The Fire 1. Lauren 2. Tommy 3. Molly 4. Chelsea 5. Missy 6. Vince 7. Jason 8. Elaine 9. Dan 10. Tom 11. Jack 12. Janet 13. Jamal 14. Noura 15. Kellee 16. Dean 17. Karishma 18. Elizabeth 19. Aaron 20. Ronnie
Here I am with the results, late but still faster than Elizabeth makes fire! Molly, who looked in prime position to win it all, was knocked off her perch, sending huge ripples through this pool. Luckily we're playing the format that always gives you a team of 5 and a captain, so no one's out of it yet. But for now, let's marvel at how RiNGO, the reverse-ranking of everyone's averages, is in the lead, scooping up Molly's Last Player Out bonus, and holding a majority Lairo players. This'll probably stabilize out but for now, let's marvel at this anomaly.
Week 2, and poor old Vincent just couldn't find a safe place to dock, and got voted out. I really didn't want to call this right, but statistically, people of Asian descent don't survive early tribals. This is in no way shape or form an accusation of racism against the players, but when you're in the early stages you look for a "safe" vote, and that "safe" vote is often on the basis of someone being a little different. Tai had two deep runs in the game, and I don't know that he would've if not for starting on challenge-dominant tribes both times.
So basically everything went wrong for Noura, but somehow she came out positive. According to Wikipedia, this immunity challenge was for an unmentioned reward too - a basket full of pastries. Since they got it up almost immediately, I'll count it in the scoring. I'm down in the numbers because Noura is my captain, and Photobabe holds up first, but Helenmaco is hot on her tail.
Thanks for the pastries...we are starving out here! I'm glad I'm off the bottom. Great pick in placing Chelsea at the bottom Cootie!
Thanks allysense! I got lucky on the Chelsea pick. If I recall, I put her low on my list when I read that she was a digital content creator for a job. I don't think I had much of a feel for how strong of a player she was, but am a little weary of the reality TV players who are doing social media for a living.
Here's another two-episode scoring. This may be controversial, but I've decided that a pencil and a piece of paper does not constitute an "advantage," and Jamal will not be scoring for it. Less controversial, probably, will be my adding a score category "Ejected for Rule-Breaking" since I feel it significantly more severe than quitting, and we have a player in jeopardy of it. In 38 seasons of Survivor, only one player's been ejected for rule-breaking, and it wasn't said onscreen - Brandon Hantz in Caramoan, pulled for threatening violence against other players. Anyway, the tables:
