So happy I voted for Lauren (without seeing her dance) even though it was but a mere pebble in Sean's ocean.

That was a really sad elimination choice to have to make. Kate's been consistently better, but Karamo has improved greatly over the last few weeks. I thought he did a great job tonight.
Was Hannah supposed to be a zombie beauty queen? If so, it would have been great if she could have managed to wipe the smile off of her face for the dance. I think it would have been much more interesting and powerful if she'd done it with no expression at all.

Can't believe Sean is still on the show. He seems like a nice guy, but the show is supposed to pick the best dancer -- not the nicest underdog. I fear it will be like last year when Bobby Bones won. I love Bobby Bones, but he didn't deserve to win -- and neither does Sean. Or maybe there's a group organized to vote for the worst (like there was on AI a few years back). Anyway, I am fast becoming disillusioned and disgusted with the show.

It's worse than a "vote for the worst" situation (if only things were that simple like in the old days lol) -- political pundits and blogs are rallying their followers to vote Sean because of his party affiliation. It turns a silly, light-hearted thing like this show ugly, and I would say the same no matter which party was guilty of it.

It turns a silly, light-hearted thing like this show ugly, and I would say the same no matter which party was guilty of it. It's not just politics, it's religion, too. On the first night when he got a deservedly low score, Spicer tweeted this out to his followers: “Clearly those judges are not going to be with me,” Spicer wrote. “Let’s send a message to #Hollywood that those of us who stand for #Christ won’t be discounted.” (He deleted it, but I'm sure his followers got the message that a vote for him was a vote for God.) ew.com/tv/2019/09/17/sean-spicer-tweet-dwts-judges-christ/He's been all jolly and charming on the show, but I thought that tweet showed a high degree of delusion (if he really thought he didn't deserve the score he got), a huge display of poor sportsmanship, and a major manipulation of people's spiritual beliefs (which I think is pretty crappy, since they are something that should be held sacred and not used in that way).

I actually watched tonight. Well, not fully, I was playing a computer game at the same time. I thought team dances always got 10s unless there were extreme slipups. I enjoyed Lauren's dance and really like Pasha and his work with Kate. She is delightful. I, too, hate the ballot box stuffing no matter who...the reason I vote for Lauren is that she was on one of my favorite season of American Idol and sang beautiful duets with Scotty McCreary. Thank goodness she is also a talented dancer. Len: Neither couple deserves to be in this position, but I have to save Kate and Pasha. I feel you Len.

She came in second n AI. I guess she has been in Nashville for quite a while, but only just within a year or two has made her mark.
They did show the judges when it was announced that SS was safe----they were shocked and showed it.
I laughed as I can't imagine how much more they can do to get rid of him. Reminder: it is just a silly TV show and life will not change no matter who wins.

I will admit that at times I scratch my head when the "wrong" person wins DWTS since the prize is truly just the mirror ball trophy. It's not like a really worthy charity is missing out on a $500,000 donation because someone with huge twitter followings got a lot of votes.

I remembet years ago Billy Ray Cyrus could not dance but he kept moving forward. Finally , he actually told his fans on the show NOT to vote for him as he had a tour starting. He apparently took the gig for money expecting to be well gone early on, yet he stayed until he asked them to stop voting him in.

It sullies the whole show to have someone as bad as him move forward over others. I’ll read here and watch YouTube for specific dances if this continues. I won’t watch the show. And you can bet I’ll pay closer attention to who they’re casting from now on. They shot themselves in the foot with this one. 😡

The part of the show that I enjoy the most is seeing people who don't dance step out of their comfort zones and learn something new. While I'm very entertained by the stars who come on as great dancers and continue to put on a great show week after week, what makes it special to me is the people who transform on the show. This season, Kate Flannery has hands down been my favorite to watch because she's shown that she loves the show, has loved learning to dance like this, and is really developing a new side of herself. Looking back on past seasons, the transformation Kelly Osbourne went through is another of my favorites. I don't think that Sean should win the show, and I'm not voting for him as I know he's getting plenty of votes from other places. But I do like that he's come on the show and made the best of the opportunity. He's respected the show, respected what he's learned from his partner, and has made an effort. His has not been as dramatic a transformation as some other past performers, but he's picked up some new skills and enjoyed the experience. While I understand that they need to cast some ringers to make the performances exciting to watch, I like seeing the improvements so I like it when some of the weaker dancers keep advancing.

I would agree if people were voting for him based on ANYTHING having to do with his performances, but people are voting for political reasons who don’t even watch the show.

Lots of people vote, without watching. The same thing happened with AI, the shows know that, because it's been happening for years.

Last season's winner , was quite disrespectful, to the judges. I see none of that with Spicer. I did think Karamo was making progress, but he wasn't going to get a lot better. The show has chosen their top 4. I like 3 of those top 4, still hoping for James to win..

I don't want to repeat myself, but what about Bobby Bones? You didn't answer me the first time. What reasons were people voting for him and did you find his win as appalling as SS's continued success?

Yes it's only a mirror ball trophy in the end, but for the stars there's more to it than that. Mainly the cash incentives built into their contracts. The further you go, the more money you make, and if you make the finals you get money on top of that. This kind of voting puts money in Spicer's pockets and takes it out of the other stars' pockets. And the other stars are working just as hard as he is. Some are working a lot harder, because Sean can't be given choreography that's as complex as some of the others. And yet he stays and they go.
And the fact that he's being a nice guy now doesn't impress me. He's on the show specifically to salvage his image so he can still have employment options.

He didn't need the money, he was an awful dancer and rude to the judges, many people were appalled he won. ( raises hand) They were supposed to change something on the show, they didn't, and they sure didn't listen to Tom.

He's also creating more chatter about the show than some of the other contestants, so DWTS is getting something back from him. He's certainly not the only one to go on to the show to salvage his image. The show would have lost the ability to cast people many years ago if it wasn't for them offering that.

I am pretty sure that SS will not be going to the poor house if he is not dancing and taking money "out of the other stars' pockets". I just cannot agree that he needs the show to "salvage his image" to find work. Seriously, you feel that he will not find a job from all those people who share his views, all those people who are voting for him.
ETA: I really, really thought he was gone last night. The judges were handing out 9s like Halloween candy and then he gets the 6s. I am guessing that the entire audience and staff were as shocked as the judges appeared to be.

My point wasn't that anyone is going hungry in the cast. My point is, as a "star", why bother going on the show unless you have a built in army of voters, since this is still going to happen? It hurts the show because now they have to dive deeper into the pool of "questionable" celebrities that will divide the viewers. Sure it may gain them internet clicks, but have you seen the ratings? Voters and viewers are not the same group of people. At some point, you have to ask who this show is for, and if it's not for the viewers anymore, why should they continue?

FannyMare Add to that list that BB and his followers used, IIRC, the same b.s. tactic for pandering to voters was used with him - "Vote for BB and not one of those Hollywood elite people." Oh, and I know a lot of posters here don't like her, but is Hannah one of those Hollywood elite? I'd argue that Lauren, aka the girl who was on the big TV singing competition, can be considered show biz elite too, if we're using that metric to measure proximity to "Hollywood." It's that same crappy argument I've seen from people on social media about how Hollywood doesn't understand "midwestern / small town values." Um....where do you think a lot of people who work in show business came from? Hint: they weren't all born in LA. It's another scummy way of categorizing people AND trying to pit them against each other using a construct that isn't real...and there are people who fall for it every time. ITA, MFW. Spicer went on this show for one reason and that's to rehab his image (okay, maybe two reasons, the other being money). I don't care how he behaves on the show. It doesn't affect my memory of what he took part in. He's a terrible dancer and demonstrably worse than any other dancer on the show at this point. He should have been gone weeks ago. It sucks to watch better dancers and better people leave ahead of him. I hope he feels shame about that, although he probably doesn't Deleted last night's episode off my DVR before watching it. I won't watch again until Spicer is gone. ABC doesn't care, but I just can't watch another repeat of last season where a subpar dancer propagandizes on sm to stay on the show. All the so-called "big" changes they made this season did nothing :down
