Cats of the Urban Jungle - In this week's challenge the designers must create a fresh take on a timeless classic: animal prints. Taking inspiration from the film 'Cats' they need to tame their prints into cool street style looks that can compete in the flash sale challenge. Try to enjoy the show! (Cats... *shudder*)

I guess we know who the selfish contestant is. :/
I have to admit that one guy thinks beyond the box. Who would have thought of using bird feathers for an animal print? That was fabulous, and the coatdress was well-tailored.
I didn't want anyone in the Bottom 2 to go home because each outfit was a good idea gone awry.

I missed this show and a lot of other shows that I look forward to. Now I have to catch up on demand. Where will I find the time, when work gets in the way? ☺️

Oh my. We have another Jeffrey on our hands. For those who don't know, the latter appeared in Season 3 (?). He was undeniably talented, but he also had an attitude as big as New York City. He treated his fellow designers shamefully. When he won that season, I actually stopped watching PR for a while because I couldn't believe they awarded such a jerk with the top prize.
I won't deny that Delvin has great ideas and executes them well. I think he will be in for a sad wake-up once he leaves this show. He understudied in a Paris fashion house? Did he not notice how it was a team effort? I remember a few years back watching a documentary about some French designer. He was the Hot New Thing in fashion, but he didn't have a clue about how to run a business. His top couture basically had to take him in hand and help him. For instance, he got really annoyed at some wealthy client and wanted to blow her off. His head couture had to tell him, "That is really NOT a good idea if you want to last in fashion." She made it clear that she deserved as much respect as Mr. Hotshot Designer.

I don't think Delvin is as bad as Jeffrey because for the most part he's been kind to the other designers. I guess he thought that in a competition it's every man for himself (which is somewhat true) but dude, read the room. Not helping out in this instance made him look super shady, especially since she only need help on some of the stitching and was only safe. :/

They had the stylist back as a guest judge. I can't remember her name, but her personal fashion from last season was not anything I could consider fashionable. I loved the print of Delving's dress. So far, I don't think Delvin is a bad as Sergio, but that may change with more episodes.

Marni Something. I agree with your assessment of her.
Ah, Sergio. I had mixed feelings about him. I was annoyed by his dress, which clearly did not fit the challenge. (Like Delvin's, it was beautifully made, though.) However, I have to confess that I laughed at his conversation with Christian about old vs. young. It may have sounded rude, but it's true. Unless you're a celebrity or a trust fund kid, what 20-year-old can afford high fashion? The age bracket with the real is the older one that has established itself. After hearing endlessly on this show how it's only "relevant" if it's designed for said 20-year-olds, it was kind of funny to see Christian's flummoxed look.

I guess it was another case of "read the room" combined with "take in consideration your surroundings." Most major cities (but especially NYC, London, and Paris) has loads of rich kids 18-26 who can easily afford high fashion; one only has to go to Parsons, NYU, or SVA or go downtown to SoHo or Tribeca or Williamsburg in Brooklyn to see them out and about. Considering where they are at it was an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Also, for someone who has made a career of making sure everyone can wear his fashions Christian probably has the idea that crapping on a whole demographic because you think they can't afford your clothes is silly.

I was surprised at his remark also, considering where they were. I would say most struggle with city costs once they leave the nest, but some land on parental safety nets until they make their mark. Surely he has had a few in his Atelier wanting a prom dress.

Not just counting the rich kids born and raised in NYC! Think about all the well-off kids from other states who have parents who buy them a condo in NYC or Brooklyn so they can study there, plus all of the rich international kids who also choose to go to school there. He's very clueless.
Another thing I noticed is that on the Project Runway Facebook page there are a lot of women who fit Sergio's preferred demographic and a lot of them chimed in to say they wouldn't be caught dead in his clothes. As one lady stated "I want to look elegant, not dowdy and half-dead!"

I wonder if Sergio sees himself as equal to Christian in skill and talent. I certainly don't but Sergio does seem a tad arrogant.

I think in the first show he did compare himself to Christian where he came out as better. That was the first time I noticed his entitlement, or arrogance or some sort of personality that needs stroking.

But one of the other contestants labeled him "Saint Sergio" since he picked up that Sergio is playing a role or character --- one is who out to save the world.

If Sergio is trying to be a "reality TV character", it's working, because 2 weeks in I'm already convinced he's full of crap and wishing he'd fall through a hole in the floor.
All that workmanship for what? His dress was hideous. In the past this would have been called overworked, but for some reason because it's Sergio, it's brilliant? I'm like Tyler -- I'm not buying it.
If you come on Project Runway, your job is to adapt to all the weekly challenges and design according to the specs. If he's going to sit in the corner and work on his niche collection every week, he doesn't deserve to be there.
And with that attitude, forced or not, who the hell is going to want to work with him when he's back in the real world?

Yes, as I said this week, I sympathized with Tyler's criticism. The judges really should have called Sergio out for not following the challenge. That's why I was so glad Delvin didn't win. He did the exact same thing as Sergio, making the dress that he wanted but was not what the judges asked for. If they had rewarded him with the win, it would have been a slap in the face to all of the other designers. And then, of course, the others could rebel. Why bother with challenges when all that matters is a good design?
