I am curious how they will be dealing with the top 10. Last year, they made a major gaff when after voting, America's choices only counted for 7 of the top ten with the judges picking the last three. I am pretty sure that those three were not America's choices because two if not all three were voted out the next week...... it was not pretty and made the judges look bad.

Laine Hardy – It’s Alright Mama by Elvis Presley with guitar Evelyn Cormier – The Middle by Jimmy Eats World Alyssa Raghu – She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles Eddie Island – Benny and the Jets by Elton John Riley Thompson – Suds in a Bucket by Sara Evans Wade Cota – Trouble by Ray LaMontagne with guitar Dimitrius Graham – Perfect by Ed Sheeran (reworked arrangement) Madison Vandenburg – Fallin’ by Alicia Keys (the judges went nuts over this) Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon – We All Fall in Love Sometimes by Elton John on piano (judges raved afterward) Uche – Finesse by Bruno Mars (crowd ate it up!) Alejandro Aranda – One Dance by Drake – Performed “electronic style” – Per @idolspoilers it was performed with a keyboard and a DJ set. Ashley Hess – Fix You by Coldplay on piano – (mentions that she’s dating James IV from season 15 Top 24). Laci Kaye Booth – I Miss You by Blink 182 (Katy said she was “the Idol”) Walker Burroughs – Climb Every Mountain from Sound of Music

So this show is taped...which is how you knew all that you listed?? Thanks. I am amazed that they would repeat that same mistake, and it was a mistake. I think American figured that the judges had all the input they needed and should not be interferring in the top ten.

Well, duh! on me...I thought Live Shows started this Sunday. Ryan alluded to as much on this past Friday's Live with Kelly and Ryan.
SUNDAY The Guide says...In hopes of winning over the hearts of viewers and being voted through to the next phase of the competition, the top 14 contestants perform on the iconic idol stage for the first time.
MONDAY The Seven contestants with the most votes by America take their spot in the top 10; the seven remaining contestants sing to impress the judges.
So, was what was spoiled a Dress Rehearsal on Friday - Ryan would have still been in NYC, flying out Friday evening.

Song choice spoilers are out for the Top 14 if anyone cares to see them. One thing I find very intriguing...Evidently Alejandro ditches the guitar & plays piano, he may be even better on that instrument than he is on guitar. They are interesting to say the least, lol.

abc.go.com/shows/american-idol/news/updates/how-to-vote-for-american-idol-2019How to Vote for American Idol 2019 By Amy Barton | Apr 12th, 2019 It's time for America's Vote on American Idol 2019! Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan have taken the contestants all the way from auditions across the United States of America through Hollywood Week and the Top 20 round and finally, to the Top 14. Now it's time for you, America, to help your favorites make it even farther in the competition by casting your votes. If you're asking, "how do I vote for American Idol," you're in the right place. When Can I Vote? Voting opens on SUNDAY, APRIL 14 when the show begins on the East Coast at 8pm ET/5pm PT and locks at 9am ET/6am PT on MONDAY, APRIL 15. These votes help determine the Top 10 contestants who will move on to the live shows. Then, each Sunday from April 21 through May 12, voting will open at the start of the nationwide simulcast at 8pm ET/5pm PT and will close during the show's last commercial break. There will also be a nationwide vote during the live finale simulcast to determine who will be crowned the next American Idol. So How Do I Vote? We have three convenient ways for you to keep your favorite contestants singing. You can vote online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the American Idol app or via text*. You have to be at least 13 years old and located in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands to vote on ABC.com or in the American Idol app. For text message voting, simply text the number of the contestant you would like to vote for to "21523". The number for each contestant is outlined below: Laine Hardy: text "1" to 21523 Evelyn Cormier: text "2" to 21523 Alyssa Raghu: text "3" to 21523 Eddie Island: text "4" to 21523 Riley Thompson: text "5" to 21523 Wade Cota: text "6" to 21523 Dimitrius Graham: text "7" to 21523 Madison Vandenburg: text "8" to 21523 Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon: text "9" to 21523 Uché: text "10" to 21523 Alejandro Aranda: text "11" to 21523 Ashley Hess: text "12" to 21523 Laci Kaye Booth: text "13" to 21523 Walker Burroughs: text "14" to 21523 *Text voting is open to all Wireless Carriers. Message & data rates may apply. SMS voting terms are available at idolmobileterms.votenow.tv How Many Times Can I Vote? Each week, you can submit up to ten (10) votes for each remaining contestant per voting method (online at AmericanIdol.com/vote, in the American Idol app, and via text voting*). For example, if you want to vote for a given contestant – you could submit: up to ten (10) votes for that contestant on ABC.com, up to ten (10) votes for that contestant on the American Idol app and up to ten (10) votes for that contestant via text message, for a total of up to thirty (30) votes for that contestant across all voting methods that week.

There is a lot of speculatioon about whether or not we will get a Season 3, but this tidbit appeared as part of an interview with one of the producers in Billboard this week:
We’re coming to the end of this season in a few weeks. We’re already planning the casting for next season. We’ve got an audition call coming out on Disney night, so we’re going to start the audition process again. We’ve got the buses ready to go out and the judges’ calendars all sorted out, so we’re getting ready to do it all again and it’s exciting.
Looks like it is a go & all 3 judges will be back as well. It just hasn't been made official yet!

It has been incredible this year, so from the point of talent, the year is already a success. The ratings may have been a bit questionable, but that might have had to do with how they portrayed auditions?

I love Adam, and he has fit in so well with Queen, and he can sing the hell outta their songs. But yes, I hated Laci's version of Blink 182, and hate it more and more after I listened to it a couple time. She sucked the life out of that song. I think that the only ones that will do a decent rendition are Laine and maybe Madison. But, we shall see..

Adam did well on Queen when he was on AI, but then he was Adam. I like Queen's songs, but that doesn't mean I don't think they are probably difficult to sing....and especially for a mixed group like this. I would rather they just had Adam to mentor.

I would be fine with Katy not returning. It more often than not turns into the Katy show. I would hate for Lionel to go and I can go either way with Luke.

I agree, since I watched this season that is my second least fave aspect after it being so damn rushed. Luke I am ok with, it is like he tries... almost. Katy is all about herself and her making a scene and poor Lionel, who I have always likes as an artist and a person, has been too hung up on his closet.. pardon the pun. None have given useful feedback at all. Wow Katy makes 20 mil a season for that hot mess of a judging performance!? There maybe hope for Uche after all.

Not sure I understand the story. On one hand the statement is made that they are looking to replace the judges....but then it says offers have been made to the three of them. Did I miss something?

I suspect they offered less to these judges to remain around. Katy has to come off that $25 million per season salary. If the judges accept the offer, it's all good, if not then it wil be off to someone who can be had for less.

The only judge I'd be ok with staying another season, is maybe Lionel. The other two don't contribute anything to the contestants or the show, IMO.

Once the final contestants are set and America is doing the judging by voting, the judges, who did over the course of the several rounds give valuable feedback, no longer ---in my opinion---are judging.
If their comments now are just kind and general, it would be that they do not want to taint the voting. I would like to see AI change the desks for soft chairs when the show actually starts to signal that the judges' job is done and viewers now are the judges.
