Didn't it play on Wednesdays, in Survivor's time slot after their spring season aired? I'm happy for TAR to air then. With DVR's it's easy to keep up with shows even in the summer. I have a few summer shows, and I'll happily watch TAR over any of those. TAR has been my favorite reality show since I caught the very last episode of the first season.

Even though season 32 hasn't aired yet, filming has begun this week on season 33. Amazing Race 33 is now filming - realityblurred As for the cast, the article spills this tidbit right in the headline: {Spoiler}One team is a Love Island couple

Definitely a good call, but how frustrating for the racers to have things put on hold like that, especially when you've taken a specific amount of time off work to do it. Going back to their regular lives after filming three episodes must be a real bummer.

Finally, a premiere date -- Wednesday, May 20th. ---------------------------------- CBS Sets Premiere For ‘The Amazing Race’ & Reveals Three-Hour ‘Survivor’ Season Finale - DeadlineBy Peter White April 13, 2020 9:30am CBS has revealed scheduling plans for the upcoming season of The Amazing Race and the season finale of Survivor. The broadcaster will air a three-hour season finale of Survivor: Winners at War, which is the 40th season of the reality competition series. The show, which filmed last summer in Fiji, features twenty returning winners from past Survivor seasons competing for a $2M prize. Following the 39-day battle, host Jeff Probst will crown the winner. During the finale, Probst will virtually connect by video with all 20 players to discuss the highlights of the season. It will air on Wednesday May 13 between 8pm and 11pm. Prior to the finale, CBS will air a two-hour penultimate episode on Wednesday May 6. A week later, on Wednesday May 20, CBS will debut the 32nd season of The Amazing Race. The show, which was filmed at the back end of 2019, will see 11 new teams compete in destinations across Trinidad and Tobago, France, Germany, Kazakhstan and Brazil. Host Phil Keoghan will kick off the show from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It comes after the 31st season of the show aired between April and June 2019. The show will assume its regular slot of Wednesday 8pm on May 27. This comes after the 33rd season of The Amazing Race was hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. Filming had started earlier this year in the UK before producers sent the teams home in February. Survivor was not in production as the outbreak took hold.

Starting Wednesdays at the end of May...Big Brother definitely isn't happening this summer, at least not on the usual schedule.
I love TAR, though, so bring it on!

The two shows are the only originals on the network's summer schedule, as 'The Amazing Race' is being held for later in the year.
CBS has added two unscripted series to its summer schedule — and removed the previously announced Amazing Race from the slate in order to have it on hand later in the year.
The new series are the James Corden-produced Game On, which debuts May 20, and Tough as Nails, hosted and executive produced by The Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan, premiering July 8. The 32nd running of The Amazing Race, previously scheduled for May 20, will debut at a later date. CBS will also be without summer staple Big Brother and the second season of Love Island, both of which are on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic.
CBS is holding The Amazing Race as a hedge against a possible dearth of new content later in the year. The Amazing Race has also show value as a utility player that can plug into most any time period on the network's schedule.
"These are two timely and entertaining series for summer,” said Noriko Kelley, executive vp program planning and scheduling at CBS. "Game On is funny, unpredictable and feel-good television, and Tough as Nails celebrates the hard-working heroes of America in a uniquely emotional and gritty real-world competition."
Game On is based on a British show called A League of Their Own, which Corden hosted. With this version hosted by Keegan-Michael Key, the show will pit teams led by tennis legend Venus Williams and recently unretired NFL star Rob Gronkowski in a series of over-the-top physical competitions and trivia battles. Players will include a rotating group of celebrities, comedians and athletes. Comedians Bobby Lee and Ian Karmel will be regular panelists.
Tough as Nails celebrates everyday Americans who roll up their sleeves and don’t think twice about working long, hard hours and getting their hands dirty in order to keep their country running. Competitors who consider the calluses on their hands a badge of honor will be tested for their strength, endurance, life skills and, most importantly, mental toughness in challenges that take place at real-world job sites.
Game On comes from Eye Productions Inc., Fulwell 73 and CPL Productions, a Red Arrow Studios company. Fulwell 73's Corden, Ben Winston and Emma Conway executive produce with CPL's David Taylor, Murray Boland and Danielle Lux. Gronwkowski, Keegan-Michael Key, Elle Key, Henry Penzi and Williams are also EPs.
Tough as Nails is produced by Raquel Productions in association with Tough House Productions. Phil Keoghan, Louise Keoghan and Anthony Carbone executive produce.

The season was filmed over a year ago, so there's nothing holding them back from showing it. Maybe they've just been afraid to let go of it, since it's a rare piece of new programming that doesn't involve people in Zoom windows with bad wi-fi connections...

There's no announcement but I read speculation that it will replace the Fall Wednesday slot of Survivor. It's in the can, Survivor isn't started.
ETA: Read this posted by MFW in the Survivor News thread.

I was so ready for that May 20th premiere For some reason they are more concerned with the Fall season lineup There's more money attached to the Fall season. It generally generates more ad revenue in normal times. But this year that is even more true because many of the businesses that had to close suspended their advertising while closed and shifted budgets to later in the year.

Cast looks great, I like Riley and Maddison (Volleyball players), Chee and Hung (married parents), Jerry & Frank (Father/son), and what's not to love about DeAngelo and Gary (laughing NFL guys). I mean you can't help but smile when you look at DeAngelo's big grin!
ETA: Oh, I forgot Will and James (models, boyfriends) and I swear handsome Ken dolls (blond and dark hair versions).

I’ve been thinking similar thoughts while watching...it’s definitely more fun to watch when the teams don’t help each other. A bit of a snooze fest watching each team wait and tell the next team what the unscrambled word/letters spell.
