Project Runway x Ashley Longshore - In this challenge the designers work with the latest art darling, Ashley Longshore. Her pop art, turned into one-of-a-kind prints, gives the runway some of the season's boldest looks.
Enjoy the show!

Wow. Another interesting week!
Brittany did a great job, and I understand why she won. I hated the yellow with that print, and the pleats with the straps everywhere; ugh. But she did a nice job with the 3-D butterflies.
I thought Dayoung should have won. I loved the cut around the waist, and the skirt was fun. Plus, she did another great modern style jacket. Loved her color choices over Brittany's as well.
As much as I like him, it was right that Marquise went home. Construction was bad on this, and that print was over whelming. Made the model look old and dumpy.
Victoria, Victoria... she needs to learn how to lose gracefully. Last week she was complaining that she felt bad because she was on top so often, but this week proved she can't even handle being on the bottom. Yes, she correctly blamed herself, but... got very snotty with other contestants. If she is going to be in the fashion business, she had better grow up a bit. (Her outfit looked poorly made, and she is becoming a 1-note designer. Same thing yet again. Perhaps next time she will LISTEN to Christian.)
Again, I like Geoffrey. He handles everything well, and he is really funny. His dress was ok, he made it look fun. I am glad he stayed in.
Nancy, another who didn't listen to Christian, and should have. She us using WAY too much fabric. (What is with the ears on the hat? I know young Japanese girls wear that.... looks pretty stupid.)
Sergio thought he should have won of course; loved it that he was only safe.
Delvin did a great job. And he smiled! He is another who has a great sense of humor when he lets it out. His model was curvy, but he created something that looked good on her.
I guess that is all I have to say. I pretty much agreed with who left and who won. Dayoung needs to take a multi vitamin.... she is a sickly one, isn't she?

Ok.... one more thing. Isn't fashion and art odd? I mean really..... if someone other that "a name" created those designs, do you think they would be considered so wonderful? The nipples, the penises, the words, the haphazard designs? I mean if I came up with the same thing, it would be considered cheap and trashy.... just sayin'.
I was at at art show in my town, and someone introduced themselves as "an artist". I couldn't help but think..... "You are a painter. I think it is my job (and others) to decide if you are an artist or not." And believe me, that person was NOT an artist. I had that going on in my mind as I watched the show tonight....

I like Dayoung's designs and I am sorry she didn't feel well. Maybe I am just mean-spirited, but I found her complaining about her health very annoying . I don't think this show is for her. Looks like she is sick again next week. So sorry Sergio got a pass this week. Would love to see him or Nancy go next week. As for Victoria, her outfits are beginning to look all the same. I found her super irritating. Sore loser for sure. I think the winning and losing designs were right on.Sorry to see Marquis go though...😟 Designers should pay attention to Christian!

Victoria is a very sore loser. I would love to see her make an outfit that doesn't have a cut out. I did like the Victoria helped Dayoung and that Dayoung gave her credit on the runway. I agree with the losing design. I have never heard of the guest judge before, but she seems fun. I hope she comes back in a future season.

We were somewhat deceived by the previews. We were led to think that we would get more of the same with Sergio but except for the small bit at the beginning when he insisted on explaining how to do something, we saw very little of him--not even his chat with Christian. I thought his dress looked beautifully made, but I know Brandon hates a "reveal" so I am not surprised the cocoon did not go over well. Glad we did not have to hear the political philosophy of it all.
Looks like we do have a new villain in Victoria......she treated everybody very badly and it looks like she is throwing a fit next week.
This season does not have a clear winner or even the top three....It looks like people are shifting among the three categories pretty regularly....makes for good TV.

Thank you! I had never heard of Longshore before last night, and now I hope I can forget about her. I wasn't impressed at all by her "art". It just looked tacky, garish, and vulgar to me. When they were standing in that cafe I started to feel ill, with all those clashing prints behind the designers. And for the record, I've never been that impressed by Andy Warhol, either. Some of his stuff looks like the things sold by street vendors in my downtown area.
I liked Dayoung's outfit the best, simply because she put that solid color behind the print so it didn't hurt your eyes.
Interesting that the other designers snubbed Sergio this week. Will it take him down a notch?
Oh Victoria. I liked you at first, but what's going on. Nancy was right; you've sent variations on the same outfit down the runway each week. You had the decency (faux modesty?) to feel badly last week. And this week?
Overall, was not impressed this week. Not with the guest judge, not with the challenge, not with most of the outfits.

The judges said last night that this is the second week in a row that Victoria has ignored the challenge, and they're right. In past seasons, there have been plenty of designers who have been sent home for not respecting the challenge - why isn't she? When she's hearing what they want from them and responding saying "That's nice, but i'm going to make what i want to" and it still turns out crappy - isn't that worse than a person trying to follow the rules and falling short?

Sergio is doing the same thing, though. However, I'm glad we didn't have to listen to his self-appointed diatribe this week in that he was safe. Not that I wanted him safe...just saying.
Disappointed that Nancy continues to design over-big coats (and wears them) as they do swallow the model. Perhaps in a couture challenge, but everyday?
Happy for the Brittany win as she was the only one who really GOT the artist except for Christian. I thought she would pee her pants when they were introduced. Very cleaver of her to take the design one step further with the 3-D butterflies.

I thought it was a good show last night. I was very happy I didn't have to listen to another self-righteous rant by Sergio.
Poor little, Dayoung. I suspect she may have some underlying medical problem. I loved that Victoria helped Dayoung and was happy that Dayoung told the judges about it but I also agree that Victoria was a very poor loser. Of all the prints, I liked Victorias' the best. She should have made a WOW garment.

I did not like Brittany's over-all design, but I loved the 3D butterfly aspect. I Knew I would like that as soon as she started talking about it so I was very hopeful. Do people wear things all spliced together like that IRL? I find it weird and not at all flattering. It just looks to me like they ran out of material and used what they had. Then she won.
I much preferred Dayoung's. It still had asymmetry and paired another fabric, but hers seemed like it was supposed to go together. The dark fabric (navy?) was the needed relief of that busy fabric. It's not something I'd want to wear, but I can see why others would. I cannot see why they liked Brittany's. Oh, I did like Delvin's as well. It was a happy outfit and it flattered his model.
I also agree with some of you, I definitely don't like the artist's work.
So glad we only had to see a quick explanation of Sergio's cause of the week and then we could mostly forget about him, other than when he was offering unsolicited advice to another designer.
Was it Nina that said she didn't recognize the garment as Victoria's? That didn't sound anymore believable to me than it did to Brandon. It was basically the same garment she's sent down the runway each week.

I enjoyed Ashley Longshore's prints and work as a judge. Art is supposed to be subjective; no one person can judge whether or not someone is an artist, you can only judge the feeling (or lack of) you feel when viewing their work. A lot of contemporary art leaves me cold and quite frankly I don't like the Impressionist period at all but it doesn't make it any less art.
I loved the top 3 and especially loved the fact that unlike Sergio last week Dayoung immediately credited Victoria for helping her in front of the judges. I loved her little outfit and wanted her to win but that honor went to Brittney who did a great job in capturing the artist's tongue in cheek style with her design. I laughed when Chelsey was asking Delvin about her look and Sergio (without anyone asking) meandered over to tell her about boning and she was like ..... While people were rather neutral to nice to Sergio in the beginning I'm noticing a certain coolness now and wonder what is going on behind the scenes.

I think if Victoria paired her print with black since it was part of the pattern, rather than the stark white, it would have been easier to work with and would have looked better. She seems to work a lot in black so that should have helped her. She just gave up and did nothing except tack some pieces together. I am guessing that the judges will be ( or should be) more cognizant that she is doing the same design every week.

I liked the episode. I'd never heard of the artist either, but I thought she had a fun personality and I think it reflects in her work. I LOVED how squeamish it made Brandon during the runway (which is the point of the work) -- especially when Ashley used the term "flooded my basement" -- Brandon should have known that phrase, since it was already turned into a meme by drag queen Ginger Minj on RuPaul's Drag Race several years ago. Ashley is from Alabama and Ginger is from Lake County Florida, so maybe it's a "Deep South" phrase. Brandon's lack of humor and inflexibility annoy me more and more each week. I'm over Victoria like I'm over Sergio. If you refuse to learn new things and adapt by being on this show, then you probably won't grow as a designer in the real world either, and your aesthetic will grow stale. Hopefully Nancy will learn from this week, since she seems to be in danger of heading down the same hole. This week's show was fun and unexpected... it managed to take my mind off the sad/ugly real world for 90 minutes.

I wonder if the judges put Sergio in the safe category just so they wouldn't have to listen to him. Back in the workroom, didn't he say something about how his "cocoon" was supposed to represent trans people being hidden? Yawn.
Sergio, Victoria, and Delvin have all ignored a challenge and yet are still around because of their talent. This is not a good look for the judges.

Oh Lord, I missed that quick explanation of the cocoon....so far we have heard about animal rights, migrant issues, something that I may have missed so the transgender issue would certainly be on his radar. These are all important issues but if I don't like you personally, I do not want to listen to anything that you espouse.
Brandon is a self-rightous, inflexible dolt, isn't he.

Yeah! I was not a fan of Victoria's snit last night. Both Ashley and Christian told her that she needed to use more of the print in her design, and she just ignored them and then threw a tantrum when the judges didn't think she was fabulous for doing the exact same design--just in different fabrics and in a way that totally ignored the challenge. What a baby! If she walks next week, I say, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." But she might be like high-strung Ken (who I grew to like by the end of his second season). He had a habit of losing it and walking out but coming back the next day. I was always kind of surprised that they let him come back.
I actually liked Sergio's dress. It still probably wasn't top three, but it would have been a lot closer without the cocoon. I'm very supportive of trans people and the importance of their being able to live a life congruent with who they are, and what Sergio did may have been conceptually interesting from the perspective of the trans experience (I can't say for sure, since I'm not trans). But maybe he should become a performance artist if he wants to do interesting things to make points (kinds of snarky and kind of serious here). What he's doing isn't really fashion and is getting in the way of his goals if he really does want to try to be in the top.
As for Dayoung, I'm not sure if she has a chronic health problem or if she's a person who doesn't eat when she under stress or nervous and is experiencing the consequences of that. Last week it seemed like she was coming down with something, since she seemed to have a fever and chills. And this week it may have still been part of that. But she also said that she has a hard time making herself stop to eat, because it feels like a waste of time, and she wants to get her projects done. Ironically, it's hard to get projects done when you have no energy from not eating. It will be interesting to see what happens next week. I hope she's OK.

My guess about Dayoung is that she’s not eating or sleeping much. She looks like she’s wasting away a bit more each week. I don’t see how she can last the season at the rate she’s going.

These are all important issues but if I don't like you personally, I do not want to listen to anything that you espouse. Brandon is a self-rightous, inflexible dolt, isn't he. It happened during the model fitting. It was a just a snippet, since they didn't focus on Sergio this week. Anyway, as his model walked around, he said something about the cocoon representing how trans people are oppressed and we need to let them break free. I have no problem with a designer advocating for whatever cause he/she wishes on their own time. But, oh heavens. The thought of having to listen to Sergio stand up there and pontificate about how his dress helps poor trans people by giving them a voice, etc. makes me want to go watch America's Got Talent. I am convinced that the judges put him in the middle so that they could give themselves a week off from having to listen to them.
I thought Geoffrey's dress was terrible, too. At first it just looked like a giant tent. Even after he put a belted it, it just looked like a tent with a belt.
