I just watched it last night, because after reading so much about it, I just didn't have the patience for it before now. And I have to agree that Vanessa (and Nick) were NOT good hosts. In fact, I wondered if she was drunk or on something? I know she's always extra emotive, but after watching her interview with Josh/Jackie then coming back to the "live" she was different, and just "off." Maybe they had a few cocktails while waiting for the technical problems to be fixed, and that made her have that edge we saw. She was just relentless to Paul. A lot of people were commenting how she should not have been going on and on about who's having a baby and when, since there could be many (private) reasons the couples would not be. Okay, and even though we clearly don't see EVERYTHING and they all had to reiterate that, I actually went back to watch earlier in the season to try and see that girl Marshall went on a date with (Kacia?) after the season. (She was very pretty btw.) I ended up rewatching the Kwame and Micah drama, and no matter what he says, he was NOT cooling off on her when she broke up with him, he was devastated because he had been ready to propose early to her! He did say in that episode how his best date so far was with Chelsea, so I do believe he liked her. But he was definitely mad for Micah. He did dodge a bullet, but he would've taken Micah at the drop of a hat, I'm convinced. Nothing from what he tried to say at the reunion convinced me that he and Chelsea were stronger than his desire for Micah. Nope. I also do not believe Jackie has changed one bit. Bully for her that she and Josh are living together and supposedly happy; she's still a defensive and aggressive mess. In the pods, after rewatching some of that, she was acting so sweet and nice. I'd have felt completely duped if I were Marshall. He is much, much, much better off without her. I love how Bliss loves Zack and all his quirks. That's so interesting, Critical, about their coincidences - WOW!! Irina is another hot mess. Well, maybe not so hot. Just messy, but at least she tried to say the right things and apologized to people, on and off camera. I'll give her credit for that much. She also wanted to leave the show immediately after seeing him (telling us that no, it was not because of looks!), but sidestepped the issue of the contract and/or producers who wouldn't let her leave. I read they'd have to pay $50,000 back to the show if they left early w/o permission, so she likely thought she had to go to Mexico and continue. Too bad she was so ugly and mean about it all though. So Micah and Paul tried to date for a bit after the failed wedding! That was interesting. She is just super immature, I feel, so maybe someday she'll see how this was not the best show to go on at this stage in her life. Love Island, maybe?  She'd fit right in! Brett and Tiffany just seem so well matched. They're mature, respectful, and really seem to enjoy one another. I want that! ❤ |

I don’t have Netflix, so I haven’t watched this show, but I thought people might be interested to know that Reality Steve’s podcast this week is with Jeremy Hartwell and Nick Thompson from Season 2 of Love is Blind talking about behind the scenes stuff including inhumane working conditions that create a lot of physical and emotional stress. The clip I saw sounded pretty grim. I got the impression that this isn’t the only reality show where things are like that.

I don’t have Netflix, so I haven’t watched this show, but I thought people might be interested to know that Reality Steve’s podcast this week is with Jeremy Hartwell and Nick Thompson from Season 2 of Love is Blind talking about behind the scenes stuff including inhumane working conditions that create a lot of physical and emotional stress. The clip I saw sounded pretty grim. I got the impression that this isn’t the only reality show where things are like that. I just listened to it this afternoon and it was a good interview. What they do to those people is inexcusable. What they did to Danielle was horrifying. ALL reality series should provide access to therapists. The fact that Danielle was having a nervous breakdown in Mexico, asked for help and production did nothing is unacceptable. They should be offering mental health help to anyone who wants it AND marriage counseling to any of the couples who ask for it.
BTW, obviously, we know that Nick married Danielle on season 2, but Jeremy was one of the guys who got 5 minutes of screen time and was sent home. I don't think many viewers would recognize him, much less known him by name.
They did mention that they'd had participants from other reality shows reach out, so it's not just LiB and MAFS. One of the guys mentioned someone from a cooking show. From what I've heard, the contracts are fairly similar, as is the treatment of contestants on most reality shows.

Another interesting podcast to watch (which also includes some discussion of these issues) is this episode of Dear Shandy, Sharleen Joynt's podcast on relationships that she does with her husband Andy. Their guest Dr. Honda is a therapist who does "therapist reacts" podcasts about Love is Blind. The Psychology Of Reality TV Dating W/ Dr. Kirk Honda Aka @psychologyinseattle - Ep 219- Dear Shandy
They talk about a lot of things, but he does mention the psychological mistreatment of participants and suggests many of the same solutions that Reality Steve's guests are advocating for. |

I just started the new season.
Lydia--Puerto Rican upset that Izzy is not interested in her. She needs to dust herself off. A good thing could be around the corner, not on the show.
Poetry people--He asked necessary questions. I think he needs to listen to her answer, not what he wants her answer to be.
Still on first episode now

I stayed up way too late to watch the first four episodes on Saturday. I thought Lydia was overly dramatic about Izzy, but she seemed okay when she settled on Milton and was being a good friend to Aaliyah. Then all the stuff with Uche came out and Lydia's looking pretty two-faced. WHY would they not tell Aaliyah that they dated? Also, it was more than just going out on a few dates, by the sound of it. Aaliyah should have been given that information early on so she could make her own decision about it. I don't know that it was a great look to just leave, but she did what she had to do. They didn't give her any special consideration, so I guess she doesn't owe them anything. I wasn't expecting to like Stacy, but I do. I especially appreciate that she kept her feelings and relationship with Izzy low-key with the other ladies, knowing that several others had feelings for him. I thought that was classy. I don't know that she and Izzy are a good match, but I like her. She reminds me, physically, of Amanda Schull, the actress/dancer. When I look at the contestant profiles, it's crazy how many we pretty much never see (beware, there are couples spoilers at the bottom of that article, after Uche's profile).
There's always someone on these shows that makes me think, "Did they not realize this was all being recorded?" This season, it's Johnie. She tells Chris one thing and Izzy another and thinks, a) they won't talk to each other and b) they won't roll the footage when needed. She came off as really desperate and indecisive and NOT ready for a serious relationship. That was high school girl behavior.
I wouldn't say I'm bored this season, but I don't think it's going to be as successful as last season and maybe ANY previous season. It feels like not as many matches are being made.

I am disappointed in this season, and hope it tells TPTB that a reset is needed. I'm wondering if the Uche/Lyda thing was really a surprise to production. I don't think so. This began as an experiment that is worth doing. It has turned into just a drama filled mess. i had hopes for JP and Taylor, but out of the pods it sure went south. Milton and Lydia? In what world? I am hoping the differences between Izzy and Stacy can be worked out, I like them together. I thought the paper plate fight was stupid. She is Daddy's girl and that is a tough one. She has started to look really high maintenance. I hope it works out. Lydia needs professional help that she would let actually speak. The "spicy Puerto Rican" thing has been done before, and better. Johnie? I give Chris credit for giving her a chance. She also needs to talk to a professional about her issues. It's almost like she only knows how to date addicts. or wants to. Looking forward to the reunion show, oddly, to see where these folks are now. Not sure any will say I do.

Izzy is creeping me out. He can't seem to stop talking about Johnee, he can't let what happened in the pods alone! Same with Urche, he has a need to tell everyone about Lydia!

I couldn't believe the way Izzy spoke to Johnie then his mean chick Stacy chiming in. Yuck. Izzy was obviously bitter. Even though he dumped Johnie a man's ego never lies. Urche, another ego that doesn't lie. That nasty side was always there. Always acted holier than thou when he is the one that was always the cheater and liar. Keeping his ex in the house secret. Nope! |

I saw a meme that made me LOL. It was Taylor and the woman who got engaged to a guy named (I think) Carter - he's the big lumberjack-y looking guy. The girls are sitting side-by side, frowning and the text says something about wondering where your fiance was on January 6th 
Taylor's way better off without creepy JP. What a jerk. She, OTOH, looked so great at the reunion. I hope she meets someone who's worthy of her.
I can't help wondering if the couples who got engaged that weren't shown on the season would have been more interesting than the ones they showed.
Totally shocked that Milton and Lydia are still going strong after 18 months. Good for them. Who knew he'd turn out to be the most mature of the guys, while being the youngest one.
