Finale, Part 1 - Christian visits the remaining contestants at home as they furiously complete their final collections. Then it's back to the workroom to refine and revise. Even though New York Fashion Week is here, that doesn't mean everyone will show in the finale.
Enjoy the show!

I was a little pleased that Sergio's and Victoria's preview collections got torn apart by the judges. But they had plenty of criticism to go around for all four. For once, I'll be interested to see how they all can fix things before the show.

Sergio outdid himself with the importance of his collection---it will change humanity...Oh goodness he is going to change the world!!
What was he wearing? If his collection reminded CS( whom I just love this season) of the British dance hall, did he decide that he would dress as Sherlock Holmes with his cape and his driving gloves??? Really, it was a costume .. rather silly.
I do credit him with real thought about changing colors and texture in his collection to follow the change in the glacier.
Poor Geoffrey Mac. I think his emotional conditions have hurt him over his career...he just can't seem to get it together. Did he say that he did something for Disney which was part of the reason he did not have anything ready for CS ( along with his injury)? Good thing he can work fast as he is such a slow starter but when he organizes his thoughts, he must work like the devil.

Of the four collections, or what we saw of them, I liked Nancy's the best, and what they wanted her to fix seemed less drastic--not very difficult to remove a collar/headpiece or not include a handbag. Hers also seemed like it would be reasonably easy to adapt to things people could wear off the runway. Also really liked the fabric of that dress from which the judges wanted her to remove the collar/headpiece. It looked luxe, unusual, and still wearable.
And I did think it was funny when Victoria was told that she wasn't famous enough yet for anyone to want her name in big ol' letters on their purse.

All four received harsh criticism on some aspect of what was shown. Who will go to Fashion Week? As to all four going, I thought I saw head shakes during Karli's question.
I always like Nancy but would love to see more sleek from her. Sergio was pompous in hi Save the World stuff. I wonder how much influence his boyfriend has? Victoria's seemed cohesive, but boring. Poor Geoffrey. If he can't take the pressure...anyway, I do understand why he took a job during the time he should have been designing for PR, but get it together, man!
I wonder who and I wonder why.

I liked Nancy's collection but was shocked that she used that terrible 80's hair on the model who wore the pants suit. The pattern was so strong, the hair was a terrible distraction. It looked like Nancy has a gorgeous apartment in Philadelphis. I missed what she said to Brandon as to why that purse was inspired by him. Can somebody fill me in since he was shocked saying his parents were watching the show?
I was surprised that Geoffrey made the dress with the very innovative bra top so baggy. It just seemed natural to pair that interesting top with a sleek skirt so the top would really stand out for its originality.
I think Victoria should move into accessories---she seems to love purses and now hats...putting purses with looks where they add nothing. I did love when she was hit with the critique that her brand was not important enough to be splashed all over her looks.
I see no reason why all 4 should not show at Fashion Week. Everybody looked to have done interesting work. While there were much needed critiques of everybody's work....no one was a disaster or ordinary.

I saw Elaine Welteroth on the Kelly and Ryan show the other day (I never watch that show, but was channel surfing and happened to catch her.) She said the collections the Project Runway contestants show this year are extraordinary and very, very professional. She was gushing. So, they must have taken their criticisms to heart and pulled their collections together. I think all 4 will get the nod to move on to NY Fashion Week.

They had 5 months to get their collections together. The finale was filmed during Oscar week so fairly recent. I believe all 4 will show since if only 2 would show it would make for a very short show. With the 5 month break I doubt there were any "dummy" collections.

I really liked what Elaine said to him about how he changes the issue (through which he's changing the world) every time and about how if it's important to him to promote a cause with his work, it's better to pick just one cause and have it shine through in all of his work That seems like good advice. I agree that the changing colors concept is cool.

Sergio outdid himself with the importance of his collection---it will change humanity...Oh goodness he is going to change the world!! Right? It will "change humanity" Without that "cause" his collection still would have been pretty unoriginal. I liked the color palette, but there wasn't anything groundbreaking in the designs, IMO. I liked the last look he showed with the fringe, but we've seen that silhouette a million times. When Christian visited him and they were looking at that piece with the white fringe, Christian was talking about how it looked like (I think) a saloon girl. I thought it looked like a lampshade. The middle piece he showed - the sheer white one - had that same ruffle at the bottom that so many of his designs had this season. If it had a nightie underneath, you could put it on Eva Gabor in Green Acres
I disagreed with the judges about Nancy's dress with the cowl. IMO, if she'd had DD walk without that cowl, they would have called it boring and not original. The fabric was incredible, but without the cowl, it's a halter dress Overall, I liked Nancy's collection.
I was underwhelmed by Victoria's collection. The colors were blah and her branding? Please. If they eliminate anyone before Fashion Week, I think it should be her. At least Sergio's clothing is well made and the colors are good. The crocheted accessories were very "happy hands at home." Why not add in a big 'ole crocheted poncho and go Full Grandma?
I wanted Geoffrey's collection to be better. I like him so much, but the pieces seemed so unfocused to me. How is it that he JUST noticed that the "skirt arms" looked like penises? Even on a mannequin, that would be obvious. Also, why would you make a skirt like that in the first place? It wasn't innovative; it was just odd. I hope he stays in and shows at FW because I think he's very talented, but his collection needs some serious revising. All of his models are stunning and he made them look bland and shapeless.
I would have been out for blood if I was one of the other designers and Geoffrey's feathers were all over the work room.

I give Sergio credit for seeming to realize how "cocky" (as Victoria tried to put it) he's come across this past season....although then he goes on about climate change. Why not just show a cohesive collection without trying to fit it in a story. Or just mention it briefly if that's what really what inspired him, but then it should be all about the clothes. I too was disappointed in Geoffrey's showing. If he gets to show at FW, I hope he seriously ups his game and revises everything. Hoping for a Geoffrey or Nancy win (well, I guess I'm actually hoping for Victoria and Sergio NOT to win) at this point. Edited to add: at Victoria including her branding all over the place.

Sergios looks reminded me of going to Lord and Taylor and seeing the lingerie department and the mother of the bride department. It was dowdy!

I agree that Victoria's collection is really boring. I thought the CDFA guy was kind about her hats, which aren't very interesting to me. The weird thing about her "branding" was that I think she told Christian that it was a friend's logo and not her brand. It made no sense to me at all. She just seemed to think it was cool to have a logo on the clothes. I, too, hope that Geoffrey gets his act together, because he and Nancy are my favorites, and I'd like to see him have a good show. In the previews, it looks like he's falling apart with that whole "I want to go home!" thing. Here's hoping he gets it together after the meltdown and does something wonderful. Ditto what Critical said about the feathers! If I were Nancy, I'd especially be irritated, since her clothes were mostly darker shades. It wasn't really fair that she had to be doing all of the sweeping and vacuuming to clean up the feathers.

I guess I have goodwill about the final 4 because I liked all 4 collections.
I thought it was very kind of Nancy to admit that while Sergio doesn't come across very great that he has a big heart and is kind to the other designers.
Loved seeing Victoria's little family.
Nancy had a great studio space!
Can't say I blame Geoffrey for taking that Disney gig, but it really put him at a disadvantage on his PR collection. Unlike the others who showed their best work, he showed the pieces he wasn't sure about and wanted feedback on. Hope that doesn't end up biting him.
At this point, my fav collection was Nancy's. Everyone had issues with their collections but with some tweaking they will look great. Everyone worked hard and I'm hoping they all get to show for fashion week.

I’m going to sit alone in my corner and say that I liked Sergio’s the best. Yes I rolled my eyes at his issue of the week but I thought all the pieces were beautiful.
Victoria’s tan colour was meh but I liked the sparkly jumpsuit, I don’t care what Elaine says. The many logos were too much though I don’t know how she’s going to get rid of them.
Nancy’s final dress was nice but without the addition it did look plain. I liked her pantsuit as well. The first outfit was ok.
I wanted to like Geoffrey’s more. When he was talking to Christian it sounded interesting but the huge jackets and floppy bits...no.
I think they should all show. I’ve never liked them cutting a designer after the months at home working on the final collection.

I think all will go forward, but I wasn't crazy about any of the collections. I liked Sergios dark dress but not the other two... especially the weird nightgown. I think they will make transformations and I think Geoffery will pull it out. I hope he wins. I am not a fan of any of the designers except Geoffery.

All I can say is that I hope all 4 of them get to show at NYFW because reading everyone’s comments here makes me realize our differences in what we like/dislike in the designer’s collections.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I liked Victoria’s collection the best. I also thought the branding was pretty smart, albeit she needs to edit it down quite a bit….smaller font, minimal contrast. Her garment with the hoodie was my favorite of all the looks, but the judges thought it looked cheap and ill-fitted.
Sergio’s garments were too old-fashioned looking to me and I agree with the ‘lampshade’ and ‘saloon girl’ references.
In Nancy’s collection I liked the dress DD wore minus the tamale wrapper. Simple. Elegant. Yes, we’ve seen it a million times before, but still. I loved the well-tailored middle garment minus the 1970s hairstyle.
Poor Geoffrey. He seems to have been going through a lot of stuff,…break-up, financial woes…during the months he had to create. He just couldn’t stay focused. He’s my favorite of the remaining designers, but I didn’t care for any of his 3 looks. I’m not a ‘puffy jacket’ kind a guy, and the garment his male model wore wasn’t aesthetically pleasing. I hope Geoffrey pulls himself together. I would love to see him show at NYFW.

I hope that they all 4 get to show at FW because selfishly, I want to see all 4 collections. I did not care for two of the collections at all, but liked pieces from the two I didn't care for.
The two that I felt weren't as strong: Sergio....oh my. It's like the wild west meets Frozen. I loved the third preview look, the fringed gown. It was really nice and looked high end. However the other two dresses he showed, I question whether or not they are modern. Yuck. I think the fringe was overdone. I loved Victoria's jumpsuit. I don't care what the judges said, I would rock that jumpsuit and jacket anytime. She can ship that badboy to me in my size any day.
The two that I liked: Surprise of the episode-I liked Nancy's collection a lot. However, that printed suit she showed in the preview? I think it would have been much stronger with the magenta liquid fabric as the top. Putting that solid under the jacket would have make the print pop. The styling is a bit off too. I did love the large collar on Nancy's dress, too. I loved Geoffrey's purple puffer coat. When I saw the outfit, I knew it had to be made for Thijin. She looked incredible in the jacket. I would have left the dress with the extra sleeves under it and maybe cut off the extra appendages at the bottom. Geoffrey's was probably the most modern of the four.
Can't wait to see who's in and who's out!
