This Is Where the Battle Begins - With the old-school players living on Edge of Extinction, it’s merge time for the new-school castaways.
Enjoy the show!

Wow! Where is everyone? The merge happened. Tyson won the challenge that freed him from EOE. Denice and Jeremy won immunity and Wendell was told to join the group on EOE. Originally the plan had been to vote Denice off but she ruined the plan by winning immunity.

I came here to get my hour ahead spoilers, and kept checking back, but nothing 'till your post. I'm glad Wendell got sent to EOE. There are still a number of them I want to see gone. Way too cocky for my taste. How are they going to work this EOE thing? Is a new exilee going to come back every week? Are any more at all?

Of those left, firefighter Jeremy is my fav! My dad was a San Francisco firefighter, so Jeremy is family to me!
But I wish Rob had beat out Tyson to come back from EOE, because Rob is my all time fav! So close!

Voting Yul out last week was not a smart move on Wendell and Nick's part. On one of the recap shows (I think it was Rob Has a Podcast), they were saying that Sophie and others on the original Sele tribe were not going to be happy about them sabotaging the plan to stick with the original tribe alliance until deep in the game. And sure enough. I looked at the votes, and the only ones who didn't vote for Wendell were Michelle, Wendell, and Nick. That would seem to indicate that they burned up a lot of social capital by voting Yul out. I'm glad Denise won immunity. While it was no doubt satisfying to take out Sandra, making a big move like that certainly put a target on her back. Poor Sophie at the challenge. She looked like she had some major hypothermia going on there, though there were several who looked like they weren't far behind her. How miserable! That "photo-finish" in the challenge was pretty exciting Punkin. I had to cheer for Tyson, since he's a local guy; but I would have been happy to see Rob come back, too.

I couldn't believe how cold Sophie was, of the women left, she's my favourite to win. I think Nick looks like Richard Thomas( I believe I made that comparison the last time he played. ) Not a fan of Adam.

I was rooting for Rob to win as well. I like Tyson more this season than some of his previous ones so ok with him back if it couldn't be Rob. Happy to see Wendell go. I, too, am curious if and how more Edge people are coming back?

Oh good, I'm glad you all have questions too about Edge. I thought I missed something. And do we know anything about the fire tokens?

I was guessing that Edge would work the same as last time and one more person will come back in.
I've never really cared too much for Tyson, so I definitely wasn't rooting for him to come back in.
I am ambivalent about Adam, but I liked what he said when he helped vote Wendell out, that he knew it was between the two of them, did Wendell.
After the challenge, Tony said pretty much what I did about Sandra not coming back because she knew she wouldn't win that. I'm a little surprised she didn't stick it out for a couple more days, just to be on the jury, but she doesn't really need to do it to prove anything to anyone. I wonder how much of it was she also tired of being out in the elements from last season.

I'm not a huge Tyson fan but I'm so glad that it was him who won and not Rob. Yul probably wins that challenge if it werent for the advantages. I'm not sure i love the idea that everyone gets a fire token whenever they win immunity, it just makes everything so much more confusing for me lol.
Sophie is a huge contender to win this season! She was able to recognize all of the guys getting together, and she shot that down very quickly. I think Jeremy and Wendell's relationship was way too obvious they could have played that down alot better.

I assume this will be at Final 6 like it was in S38. The fact that Wendell is the 8th member of the jury right now is insane to me though. Come Finale Night there will be a 16 person jury.

How will they handle a Finale Night with California locked down? And doubtful there will be a Big Brother this season.

Glad Denise was able to get immunity. I really hate it when a player makes a good move that does not mean they are going to win the game. Wendell was so focused on her he let that drive his long game and I soooo glad he was sent to the Edge of Extinction.
While Tyson made it in, it was hard to hear but do the other Extinction players have a chance to get back into the game???

Really, damn! Just have them on video They can live stream it like everyone else. Yeah. I can't imagine that they would have us watch the entire season and then say, "Sorry. You'll have to wait several months to know the outcome. That would be anticlimactic and not good for the show.

Since filming the next season was put off they have plenty of time to figure out how to handle the finale. They aren't going to make the contestants wait months more for $2 million. They're capable of figuring out among themselves who won and word is likely to get out. The producers wouldn't want that.
Maybe there is a little precedent as of the last finale. I don't recall her name but Jeff prerecorded his interview of the woman who was so harassed.

The fire token advantage from EOE was so dumb. Yul didn't stand a chance at earning/buying the advantage, and he lasted longer in the game.

I thought I read some time ago that they wouldn't have an audience at the final but I don't know now where I read it. That would be sad, plus I'd love to see Boston Rob's family. I agree, they won't wait to have the final.

I agree that they'll have a Finale. After all, this is a TV show. Money in the bank for them. However, I think it will be a weird Finale. Definitely no audience. Definitely not with the whole group in the same room. Probably not with any of them in the same room. They do have a time slot to fill. These are set months, if not a year or more, in advance. It will probably be a lot of clips & filler. Way more than usual.
Unfortunately not much congratulations for the winner. Jeff will probably just say "The check is in the mail". I've been watching the whole season. I haven't done that in years, so I'll probably watch even if I don't care for the top 3 or so. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see what they do with this. Probably a bargain basement Finale.

Didn't the first finale (Rich, Rudy, et al) not air for several months after they had voted and returned? I remember having a procedure in the hospital the morning after the finale (August 2000). As I came out of the anesthesia, one of the doctors or nurses finished his conversation with "Rudy should have won." When I responded, they all laughed. The procedure was fine and a few days later my gall bladder was removed.
But they had rerun the entire first season during that summer before airing the finale.

The procedure was fine and a few days later my gall bladder was removed. But they had rerun the entire first season during that summer before airing the finale. Yes. They filmed it at the end of filming of the season. This was the last time they did this, because the winner had leaked out & even without the spoilers available today, it wasn't the surprise they wanted. This is why & when they began with the "live" Finales. What was weird about those early Finales was that they had the cast dress up in the same clothes they wore & muss themselves up to look as they did at the final tribal council in order to try to make the viewers believe that it really was taking place at that time. The problem was that in many cases the cast just didn't look like that anymore. Back then they were thin & gaunt & very well worn looking. The show didn't treat them as well during the show back then. Many of them were near starvation & had illnesses. It was pretty rough for them. One that stood out to me was Big Tom Buchanan from Season 3. He had lost a dramatic amount of weight & his clothes hung on him like a sack, but had put a lot back on. It was very clear that it wasn't the same day. The show soon gave up on the pretense that no one was buying anyhow, and began with the Finales we see today. They could have done this if they knew what was going to happen with the coronavirus, but at the time of filming no one had any idea of what was to come. By the time things got to this point, it was too late to film a big group Finale.
