That was interesting.
Glad to see both Will and Troy go.
Naomi had some interesting comments.
Surprised that Ester did not win this round.
Seven left and off to Tokyo.

I have to admit I'm getting a little bit frustrated with this show. If this is a DESIGN show as opposed to also requiring contestants to know how to construct and sew garments don't have assignments where they are required to sew then! That puts many of them at a unfair disadvantage.
I loved Naomi's comment to Troy "When the dust settles the tailors are left." It's a real shame that he didn't rise to the occasion.
Will, on the other hand, had taste issues. Not too chuffed to see him go.
Absolutely LOVED Sander's, Esther's, and Johnny's outfits. Johnny's outfit looked granny when he was making it but looked fab on the model.
I'm still liking the Heidi and Tim shorts; they are a nice way to get involved in the city they are in and a nice breather from the sewing room. Since a lot of (good) modeling depends a lot on balance it did not surprise me that Heidi would be good at fencing.
Looking forward to Tokyo!

I fast forward through the third jousting scene. I didn't even want to see one jousting scene. No you could have shown me Paris dogs. I would have liked that. The winning jacket with something big flowing out the back--I guess that is for an extra dressy occasion. Sabato sews more than the 3rd episode was letting on. Will-- What was wrong about his episode 4 outfit was that he paired narrow on the top with narrow on the bottom. It looked weird. JI Won always has a sour expression. Is she terrified? I am not sure. Harlow collection--very over priced. Nicole Richie looks good in anything because she is so thin. She is not a designer

Nicole was also a judge on the NBC design show where retail stores were the buyers pushing designers through the competition.
After the show I went to PR on BravoGo and watched that coutoure show. With Heidi and Tim saying how they chose the best of the best, I wanted to see the comparison of designs and, IMO, PR won.

Per the sewing/design thing, I said the same thing in the thread for Epi 3. It's not fair to tell a designer who can't sew, "Don't worry, we'll take care of it for you" and then suddenly tell them "Sew!"
I felt sorry for Troy, but the judges were right to send him packing. They gave him an extra chance and he just didn't do well enough. I wonder how Tim felt, since he was also a professor at Parsons all those years ago? I thought that was fascinating how Heidi still wanted to send him packing in the last epi after the other judges changed their minds. Just goes to show that under her friendly persona there's a will of steel. Man, I wouldn't want to get on her bad list.
OTOH, I love these shorts with her and Tim, too. That was too funny when the dog wandered into their caricature scene. And the fencing was cute, too. When Heidi first suited up I thought maybe she would quote a line from a movie. I would have been tempted to say "Luke, I am your father!" or something from a movie with a sword fight. I hope Tim apologized for beating that poor little girl.

Why would he do that? It was an official bout and out of hundreds that he had been his only win.

Well he did apologize to her in the en-scene.

I really want to like this show, but I don't. I like the designers, and the clothes are OK, but there's something missing. There's just no "joie de vivre!" It's so flat and unengaging.
Even though I like the designers, I don't feel very caught up in their successes and failures, and I don't find myself waiting on pins and needles (ha ha good phrase for a sewing show) for the next episode. I'll probably keep watching, but it is NOT must see TV. I like Project Runway a lot more, and I think the designers are just as good regardless of what Tim and Heidi say about these people being a cut above. Some of them are, but not very many.
My favorite thing about the show is probably Esther's jewelry! I'm coveting it in a major way!

It just feels weird that a sport would allow an adult to compete with a child. I mean, what other sport does that? It's one thing when you're goofing around with your kids, but a serious competition? I'd be embarrassed to even compete, and I'd probably try and let the child win. That's just me, though.
Yeah, I have to confess I don't like this show as much I had hoped I would. I find myself watching mainly for the shots of the city in the background. It just feels like Tim and Heidi were like, "So, PR didn't want us back? We'll show them! We'll do a fashion show that's so OTT that they'll be sorry!" Does that make sense? I'll stick around, though, since there's not much else to watch.

I'm going to jump in with those who are disappointed with this new show. I had high hopes for it! There are some good parts, like having them make more than one look per challenge, so we see more fashion, but there are so many parts I dislike. The seamstress thing is the worst: that they only get sewing help at night. I understand that successful designers have seamstresses that work for them, but first they're probably available on demand, and second, this is a competition. It's a timed challenge, so it's not the same as working at a design house with a full staff. And as it's been said before, the judges are criticizing the sewing -- so it makes no sense!
Heidi is really getting on my nerves, too. She's acting pretty full of herself, beyond confident to almost cocky, and I don't care for it. Not liking her this time around. While I love Tim and think he's a very nice person, I skip all the sight-seeing scenes, or whatever they're doing that has nothing to do with the show. To me, she just wants to show off. And her outfits are a nightmare. Whenever she tells a contestant now that she'd wear their look, I cringe, thinking then it must be pretty bad! I used to really like her on PR, but I guess she's got something to prove with this show and is amplifying things.

I know. For all my grumbling, I look forward to it each Friday, as well. After WFH all week and staring at my walls, it's nice to see all that travel scenery. (sigh) And it's great to see Tim again. Several years ago my cousin had a chance to meet him and she said he was just as nice in person as he was on TV. And I will say one thing. The contestants might be kind of bland--I miss fiery Nancy!--but that works both ways. At least so we haven't had a Sergio or Victoria.
